We first bought at Snowshoe in 1998 so we could have a place to stay for skiing but as we soon found out the summers here are even better. The mountain biking is phenomenal, the on mountain events are a blast and endless sights to see in the surrounding area will keep you busy for a whole summer. If you haven't been to Snowshoe in the summer you don't know what your missing. Get Here!
John & Sherri Agler and Ed & Terri Fogel purchased this hotel in 2007
Love to ski at Snowshoe. Only 5 hours from our home in Ohio. Snowshoe is the largest ski resort in the Mid-Atlantic and we are directly on the slopes. With the most vertical feet of any resort in the area.
'Snowshoe secret' Don't forget to buy your 15/16 season passes At $329.00 you only need to ski 5 midseason days and it's paid for. At the end of last ski season you could get the following year's pass for $209.00 and use it for the month of March and the next year.
John was a wonderful host. He always responded to any questions I had and in a timely manner. He even informed us of a ski rental discount. The condo was the perfect location with a fantastic view of the Soaring Eagle Lift and slopes. Everything was conveniently located from ski rentals to ski shops, even a bar for after skiing. We never used the shuttle bus but it was making rounds regularly right beside the condo building. The condo was just the right size for 2-3 people. The fold out couch with an air mattress was one of the most comfortable mattresses I've ever slept on. We cooked in most of the week and found the kitchen to be well equipped. The condo does stay warm but it was never a problem. During our week, we never turned the heat on at all. Maybe the occasional use of the oven helped. If we ever got a little on the warm side, we simply opened the window a little and it quickly cooled down. Pillows were extremely comfy as well. When the cleaning service dropped by mid-week, we were pleasantly surprised to have a full set of clean towels provided. It was quiet, peaceful, convenient and a perfect location. We would look forward to staying in this unit again.
Great place to say, very close to the sopes, great view looking right at the Soaring Eagle Lift. Nice clean just what you need to spend all day on the slopes, catch the shuttle to the village for some dinner and come back and catch some ZZZs. Also John is very informative with communication as well as quick to respond...
This is the second year we have booked this property. We stayed a week in January & a week in February. Internet service is great as the room has its own modem. Comfortable bed in bedroom & the sleeper sofa contained an air mattress built in that worked great for our son. Room has all amenities. Homeowners are great to work with! Top of the world complex is very dated. It would be great if they could do a few upgrades most importantly better lighting in the hallways & laundry room upgrades (only one washer & dryer on floor that worked). The individual property itself had been upgraded & was great! We will probably book same room again next year.
Thanks so much for making this an easy transaction. We will be back next year!
I really liked your view of the slope! Nice flooring choices which give the hall and den separation and a bigger feel. The only recommendation I have is to update both mattresses and all the pillows. I tried the bedroom mattress the 1st night and had an all night struggle to not roll down the slope to the middle. The 2nd night was better on the sofa, but some of the air channels have merged, creating big bubbles. The air mattress is a great idea for the sofa bed, we have never seen that before.
Thanks again and we'll be in touch for next season.
This was only our 3rd visit to Snowshoe. On our 2 prior visits we have rented very spacious houses with 3 and even 4 other families, and we paid much more for them. This was the first visit in which it was just our family of 4, so we didn't quite know what to expect. Our first impression was that the condo was a bit small, most likely because we were use to the spacious, more expensive, multi-family homes. However, after talking to, and visiting with, some other friends that were staying in Rimfire and Allegheny Springs, it became clear that this condo was of similar size as most other 1 bedroom condos on the mountain. Given that we were really only in the condo to sleep and rest, the size was really not an issue.
The slope-side location is really the best feature of this condo. Down the elevator, around the corner, out the door and you were right on the snow. It made it really easy to stop in for a break or lunch or whatever you needed. We really enjoyed being so close to the slopes.
The only real oddity was the temperature of the condo (although I think it was a building wide issue). We never used the heat the entire time we were there even though the outside temperature dropped into the teens. Luckily, we could open the large window to cool the place down, so it wasn't too much of an issue.
We enjoyed being at Top of the World versus staying in the Village. We used the shuttle to get to the Village for dinner for 2 of the 3 nights we were there. We never waited longer than 5 minutes and the ride itself was even shorter.
The only negative I can really add was that the entire building seems like its in need of an update. It just seemed old. The condo itself was fine and the updated appliances worked well and were pleasant to use.
To summarize, we really enjoyed our stay. Given how much research we did before we booked this condo, I think you would be hard pressed to find a condo that is larger, more convenient, or more "new" at this price point. We paid significantly less for 3 nights here than our friends who paid for just 2 nights in the Village. Great location, great price, and very responsive owners who answered all of my random questions.
Thanks for letting us stay and you may hear from us again next year!
Everything was perfect! We got in late, simply walked up to the room and got right in. The pictures dont do it justice. We had to walk about 10 steps out of the main door to get to the runs. Zero complaints and would definitely stay again. Highly recommended for anyone on the fence on where to stay...this is the place to go!
