About Jared Richard

I am Jared Richard. I have spent majority of my life in Scott, Louisiana. I obtained my Bachelor's Degree from McNeese State in Lake Charles. I enjoy cooking cajun food, enjoying wine, travel and spending time with family and friends. I am very passionate about the Louisiana & Cajun culture as you will see in The Castle. I am a firm believer in keeping old traditions alive and preserving old homes and buildings. I hope you get the opportunity to stay at The Castle and I always enjoy meeting our guest if time allows.

What makes this house unique

The home is a perfect twist of historic structure with modern fixings. It's carefully decorated with unique pieces that connect to the Louisiana Cajun culture. It was used for the filming of the GMC Sierra commercial in 2016!

Also check out our other VRBO vacation stay - Paul's Studio located in downtown Scott at The Old Bank of Scott where I currently reside after an extensive remodel.

Beautiful home with charm and character. Enjoyable for both adults and children. Close to city life.

  • 5 of 5

This home has everything you can imagine provided for you. Far above expectation. Great location in the country, but close to city living. The back patio is one of the greatest features for entertaining, waking up to in the morning, and relaxing on during the afternoon/evening hours. This beautiful home is comfortable for honeymoons, family vacations, weekend getaways, or possibly a great place to stay during a business trip. The charm in this house is incredible, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay this past week.

The House Was Faboulous

  • 4 of 5

This is exactly what I needed. The house was very nice. Rural atmosphere.

everything we needed was at our finger tips. I was however disappointed that the house was 2 hours away from our event. This was a very serious error on VRBO not the owner.

Perfect Cajun Country Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had the best weekend at The Castle. We got in late on Friday night, and we went straight to dinner at Saint Street Inn, which is about 15 minutes away from the house. The service and atmosphere was great, and I was very impressed with the seasonal menu -- the stuffed quail was excellent. On Saturday morning, we went into Lafayette to the farmer's market, and we had a wonderful time--great breads, homemade jams, kombucha, and bar-b-que. Plus, there is a beautiful park you can walk through after you finish with the market. In the afternoon, we went kayaking on Lake Martin, which is about 35 minutes away from the house -- very relaxing. Saturday night we ate at Social and went to the Fright Trail, which was a lot of fun and very well done. Best of all, we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere the Castle provided. Very quiet, perfectly decorated, great back porch, and nice kitchen for cooking! We felt right at home, and we will certainly be back.

An enjoyable place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

The authenticity of this old Acadian home blended with the modern conveniencies made this vacation very memorable. It was like stepping back into a lifestyle of yesterday. We have never stayed any place that was so fully stocked. We especially loved sitting on the back porch listening to the rain on the tin roof. I highly recommend this place.

Relaxing time

  • 4 of 5

The moment you open the door you know your somewhere special.unfortunatly we didn't get to do the exploring we had wanted to due to hurricane Harvey, but what a lovely location to sit back and recharge your batteries.

We spent a lot of the time on the back deck watching the rain and enjoying the company of the neighbors cats .

Our last evening the sun came out and we got on our bikes and rode to uncle T's oyster bar well worth the ride.
