Ireally enjoyed my Hunt with Hawkins Lodge. The lodge is very nice and the Staff was second to none. Everyone was very friendly and professional. They provide maid service every day, which was outstanding. The food was great. Craig Hawkins is the Owner and is as friendly as they come. The guides Gary, Jeremy, and Kevin were awesome. I saw deer almost Everytime I hunted, from does to an eight point to a monster buck. They have stars and blinds for individuals that have disabilities. I really enjoyed that this was a free range Hunt and that I had every opportunity to tag out. I can't wait to go hunting here again!!!
This is a wonderful place for families with children to come together & hang out. We were a group of 20. Our young children enjoyed the playground and often begged an adult to come play with them. There were grapevines full of perfectly ripe scuppernong & muscadine grapes that we were encouraged by Craig Hawkins to freely enjoy. We walked around & visited all the wild animals (which was very entertaining!) but sometimes we just rode the golf cart. Jake even brought his delightful little goat "Red" to meet us. There were lots of turkeys & we even bought 2 from Becky to bring home with us. My 6-year-old nephew asked me about the 2 turkeys in the cage on the back of our truck & I told him they were Alabama turkeys that were about to become Georgia turkeys. He said, "I bet they hate to leave as much as I do." That about summed up the opinion of all of us--we all were sad to leave. We had swum in the lake, picnicked, caught lots of nice big fish, kayaked, ate, shopped, shot pool & talked & visited. We all had a mighty fine time here. One afternoon we drove over to Lumpkin, GA to see Providence Canyon State Park & that was awesome too--it's only 38 miles away. We recommend that you go if you can. One family enjoys geocaching & we were all excited when they found a cache at the state park. The weather was so nice. The lodge was comfortable & we enjoyed our visit so much. Look forward to going back!
Our family of 12 thoroughly enjoyed this setting for our annual summer retreat. This is a unique setting offering roomy accommodations for 7 adults and 5 children ranging in age from 20 months to 16 years. The kitchen offered a large refrigerator, convection oven, microwave, freezer, stove and oven and all of the pots and pans needed to deliver meals for a large group. We occupied ourselves with volley ball, bad mitten, corn hole, games and puzzles. Our guests were thoughtful and considerate inviting us to join them for an amazing fireworks display and in generally making us feel very welcome. We were especially grateful when one of our ladies had an infected bug bite and the owners called a medical friend who advised us on local medical facility. The town was close by so we could replenish our supplies easily. The animals and playground were an added asset. Our only criticism would be the heat, as it did get a bit warm while using that oven. And the expansiveness of the facility.
Alabama friendly in every way.
The Hawkins Lodge was definitely one of the best places we have ever had the pleasure of enjoying during a family vacation. We were worried, at first, that it would be awkward because the Hawkins live on the property. We thought that maybe our personal space would be invaded, but let me tell you , that was definitely not the case at all. The Hawkins did their thing and we did ours and the only time they came into our space is when we asked them to. Their son Jake was very friendly and always had a smile on his face and he even gave us a catfish that he caught out on lake Eufala. The private lake on the property is stocked full of shellcracker, brim, and bass. There wasn't a day where we didn't catch at lest fifty fish. By the end of the second day we were throwing fish back because we already had plenty for a big fish fry. The kids spent lots of time in the kayaks, boats, and the paddle boat as did the adults. during the heat of the day we all jumped in the lake and did some swimming. The kitchen and dining area are very big. Every meal there was at least three of us cooking and we never got in each others way. There's gas and charcoal grills on the back patio for those of you like me who love to barbecue. The front porch is covered from one end to the other and my parents spent a lot of time sitting out there in the rocking chairs. The little kids enjoyed the playground and getting to look at the exotic animals on the property. Many of them had never seen a zebra or a camel or kangaroo and buffalo, and they all found it fantastic that there is reindeer on the property. The pool table made for some fun nights as did the card table and the big living room. There's a bathroom in every room so there was never anyone waiting in line to use the facilities. If you have found this property and had questions about renting it.. DON'T WAIT AROUND!!!! RESERVE IT NOW!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!! Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins for your hospitality. We will definitely be back. Tell Jake we will see him in the summer of 2018. And tell Gary that us Texans said ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!
Best vacation EVER!!! My husband and I were looking for a large place to rent, on or near a lake, that would accommodate our family spread out across the southeast. When we found Hawkins Ridge Lodge, it sounded too good to be true - seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, on 400 private acres with a 20 acre spring-fed lake...all I could hope for was that I was reading the information correctly and that it would be at least clean. I can only say it was more wonderful than any of us could have imagined. Mr. Hawkins and his family were kind, generous with their time, and gave us a place we could truly relax and reconnect with each other. We have already discussed going back next summer.
I just can't say enough about the property and the people at Hawkins Ridge. We rented the facility for 2 weeks to accommodate getting a large family there. Some days we entertained only 3 couples. Other days we filled all 7 bedrooms. The commercial kitchen was perfect, as was the large dining room. At our largest meal, we served 19 in comfort. Just imagine trying to do that at a beach house. This property gave our Grandchildren a place to swim, canoe, fish, or just run and play on the huge front lawn while the adults enjoyed the front porch rockers . Our family is music oriented and I even had room to take my keyboard for family sing-a-longs. As if the property wasn't enough, we were treated with guided tours by the owner's son, an awesome young man who really knew his way around the lodge and it's animal life. Hawkins Ridge is the greatest.
