R&R, fishing and a safari-like experience on pristine property!

My sisters and I traveled from California and Connecticut to meet for a long overdue reunion with other family members coming in from Florida and Alabama. We had a total of 9 people and were able to function quite comfortably in this home. Owner Craig Hawkins was friendly, helpful and great with communication before, during and after our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. His daughter Becky stopped by and introduced herself and his son Jake showed us around the grounds and introduced us to the animals. The house is spacious and decorated with rustic cabin flair to set the mood of a great hunting lodge. An extraordinary collection of game adorns the shelves, mantles and walls of the home. You can't help but marvel at the beauty of the majestic animals surrounding you while also admiring the master craftsmanship of their taxidermy. The front porch is wide and inviting with Cracker Barrel-style rocking chairs. We hung around for hours on the porch, deep in conversation with cocktails, appetizers, country music and a scenic view overlooking the property. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and every single kitchen item you need to cook or bake with, which was great. The bank of industrial refrigerators was huge! There were several chest style freezers, an upright freezer and even an ice maker. We cooked together as a family in the large, clean, industrial size kitchen. All our meals were eaten at one of the two large dining tables. It was a pleasant surprise to receive farm fresh eggs delivered by Jake one afternoon during our stay! The bedrooms all have their own en suite bathrooms. They were all well appointed and provided all the room and amenities everyone needed for privacy. Everyone slept well and relaxed every day. We fell in love with all the exotic game on the ranch. Charlie the camel was especially friendly! Seeing an actual Kangaroo and petting a Zebra were once in a lifetime experiences for all. The newly born goats were adorable! We had a fun time fishing in the beautiful pond. My sister was "hooked" after she caught her first fish! We used the paddle boat and kayaked around the peaceful lake area. We also rode around the meticulously kept grounds on the golf cart provided with the rental. It was very scenic, peaceful and iconic Alabama. We truly enjoyed this house and hope to return for future reunions. Thank you for the hospitality and great stay

Hawkins is always a family favorite!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time that my family has stayed at Hawkins Ridge for a family reunion. It is a wonderful, quiet place, surrounded by trees and the sounds of nature. That is, until we start a game of kickball, baseball or nerf wars! LOL The large kitchen and eating area is perfect for all to gather. We love to go to the lake and swim, fish, paddle boat and spend time in the water. Overall a fantastic venue for peace and quiet, with the amenities to enjoy as much laughter and fun as we can stand. Mr. Hawkins and is family are always so accommodating and make sure their guests are well taken care of. THANK YOU!

Great Turkey Hunt

  • 5 of 5

My son(13) and I just had a great turkey hunt at Hawkins Ridge. The guides and staff were excellent. We really enjoyed the food and accommodations. Both my son and I had good action and harvested turkeys.

This is definitely and good to place to stay and to go hunting.

My Hunt

  • 5 of 5

Ireally enjoyed my Hunt with Hawkins Lodge. The lodge is very nice and the Staff was second to none. Everyone was very friendly and professional. They provide maid service every day, which was outstanding. The food was great. Craig Hawkins is the Owner and is as friendly as they come. The guides Gary, Jeremy, and Kevin were awesome. I saw deer almost Everytime I hunted, from does to an eight point to a monster buck. They have stars and blinds for individuals that have disabilities. I really enjoyed that this was a free range Hunt and that I had every opportunity to tag out. I can't wait to go hunting here again!!!

Great Place for a Family Get-Together

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful place for families with children to come together & hang out. We were a group of 20. Our young children enjoyed the playground and often begged an adult to come play with them. There were grapevines full of perfectly ripe scuppernong & muscadine grapes that we were encouraged by Craig Hawkins to freely enjoy. We walked around & visited all the wild animals (which was very entertaining!) but sometimes we just rode the golf cart. Jake even brought his delightful little goat "Red" to meet us. There were lots of turkeys & we even bought 2 from Becky to bring home with us. My 6-year-old nephew asked me about the 2 turkeys in the cage on the back of our truck & I told him they were Alabama turkeys that were about to become Georgia turkeys. He said, "I bet they hate to leave as much as I do." That about summed up the opinion of all of us--we all were sad to leave. We had swum in the lake, picnicked, caught lots of nice big fish, kayaked, ate, shopped, shot pool & talked & visited. We all had a mighty fine time here. One afternoon we drove over to Lumpkin, GA to see Providence Canyon State Park & that was awesome too--it's only 38 miles away. We recommend that you go if you can. One family enjoys geocaching & we were all excited when they found a cache at the state park. The weather was so nice. The lodge was comfortable & we enjoyed our visit so much. Look forward to going back!

Wonderful backdrop for a large family gathering!

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 12 thoroughly enjoyed this setting for our annual summer retreat. This is a unique setting offering roomy accommodations for 7 adults and 5 children ranging in age from 20 months to 16 years. The kitchen offered a large refrigerator, convection oven, microwave, freezer, stove and oven and all of the pots and pans needed to deliver meals for a large group. We occupied ourselves with volley ball, bad mitten, corn hole, games and puzzles. Our guests were thoughtful and considerate inviting us to join them for an amazing fireworks display and in generally making us feel very welcome. We were especially grateful when one of our ladies had an infected bug bite and the owners called a medical friend who advised us on local medical facility. The town was close by so we could replenish our supplies easily. The animals and playground were an added asset. Our only criticism would be the heat, as it did get a bit warm while using that oven. And the expansiveness of the facility.

Alabama friendly in every way.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind review. I apologize for the heat but we do have a commercial exhaust fan over the stove. If I did not explain that to you I am sorry. The exhaust fan and the central air condition has been keeping the kitchen cool.
