About the property

Loft In Paradise

Come revive in this modern A-Frame home overlooking Pine Creek! Nestled in a beautiful gorge, this open, modern three bedroom home sits up on the mountainside overlooking the tranquil Pine Creek and adjacent 57 miles of the Rail Trail. The A-Frame structure provides a large expanse of windows looking out onto the spectacular creek view and passing wildlife including deer, turkey, black bears, and bald eagles. The main floor supports an open floor plan with adjoining kitchen, dining, and living room. Two large private bedrooms and a bathroom also occupy the main floor. A beautiful wooden staircase in the middle of the main floor leads up to a large, open master bedroom loft. Each bedroom has a queen bed, with additional space in each for air mattresses as needed. The Pine Creek area offers many outdoor activities including fishing, fly-fishing, hunting, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, biking, hiking, and skiing. Williamsport, home of Little League Baseball, and Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon are both within a 35-mile drive. If you are looking for a retreat following a Penn State football game, the university is 65 miles away. There are many nearby taverns for a hassle-free dinner out, and a couple of general stores with fly-fishing supplies and guide services.

About Carrie and Dave

We are both Penn State alums and continue to live in State College, Pa with our family. We have been coming to the Pine Creek for many years to camp and play. We fell in love with this house and continue to enjoy many peaceful weekends here. We look forward to having you enjoy the 'Loft' as much as we do!

Great spot for a weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

Friends and I enjoyed a long weekend at this home in Cammal, PA. The Loft is quiet and peaceful. A great retreat from the hustle and bustle of life. The house was perfect for our group of 7, with 5 comfortable queen beds, and plenty of room to add two queen size air mattresses. The kitchen is indeed fully stocked, with plenty of dishes, pots, pans and utensils. The seating at the table/counter was perfect. We enjoyed dining outside on the deck as well as making use of the fire pit. The house is fully stocked with books, games and a variety of videos. We The driveway is a little tricky to find, but we were able to manage it in both an SUV as well as a sedan. We made use of the Pinecreek Outfitters for a bike shuttle per the recommendation of Carrie and Dave. They were great as well. We hope to return for another visit in a different season!

Hiking/wine/fire pit....and ladybugs

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay and Carrie and Dave were very responsive to all of my questions. The house has everything you need, even shampoo/conditioner/bodywash. We left a salad dressing in the fridge and it looks like everyone who has stayed there before did as well so you definitely don't need to bring that either. The beds were all very comfortable and they were all at least queen sized. The house was very clean and well appointed.

There is a lovely walking trail across the road along the river but it was a little buggy because we walked it in the early evening. The house itself had a lot of lady bugs and milkweed bugs (and huge praying mantisses!) on the outside but that seemed like a new thing and probably temporary. We really didn't mind them too much. We lit a fire in the fire pit on the second night and watched for meteors. We actually took the trip for star gazing and the field of view of the sky was decent. There is a flood light across the street so we hid behind a little garage building to get the best view which was fine.

Overall we had a really great time and we would stay there again.

Great weekend

  • 5 of 5

The House was meticulously maintained with enormous attention to detail. It was very clean and had a great selection of DVD's,books, and board games. We played monopoly with our kids and had a blast! We used the fire pit to make smores, and ate out on the deck table.

I'm very particular about cleanliness, the Loft was very clean with terrific linens.

We hiked the Golden Eagle Trail( it's a 10 mile loop that took us 6+ hours)!

My teenagers loved the loft to sleep and hang out in. My husband and I loved the back bedroom!

We are looking forward to coming back!

Exceeded Our Expectations

  • 5 of 5

This property is absolutely gorgeous. Not only is the house decorated beautifully and well maintained, the views are even grander than the pictures show. The kitchen was fully stocked with appliances and dishes and the game options were plentiful. We enjoyed mornings on the deck and nights playing games at the dining room table overlooking the mountains as the sun went down. During a walk down to the creek, we were able to see (and take pictures of) a gorgeous bald eagle. A trip to Hyner View State Park was well worth the ride; the scenery is breathtaking. We look forward to staying here again to experience what other seasons have to offer!

Thank you for offering such a beautiful home to stay in, Carrie and Dave!

Comfortable, well-equipped home.

  • 4 of 5

Lovely home with nice outdoor area. 'Loved the decor. Close to rails to trails and pine creek. Actually, it would have been perfect with better creek access. Beds were comfortable with quality linens in bed and bath. Well-equipped kitchen. No cable TV, but great selection of DVD's. It was actually nice not to have a TV and the kids (15yo and 12yo) didn't seem to mind. We stayed up late playing poker with plastic chips....great fun for all.
