2 Bed 2 bath home with large loft/extra bed area. 1,400 sq ft.
New to the Turks and Caicos rental market and nestled amid the rich, natural, flora of the secluded private residential neighborhood of Grace Bay Gardens in the heart of Grace Bay, Taino Cottage is a 1,400 sq ft family-friendly, beautifully furnished and spacious 2 bedroom villa rental.
Taino meaning 'peaceful' was the name given to the indigenous peoples who first inhabited the Turks and Caicos and this villa certainly lives up to its name.
The villa is well situated in the heart of the Grace Bay area within walking distance of World Famous Grace Bay Beach, with quick and easy access to many fine restaurants and bars, shopping and golf course. The Kite boarders haven Long Bay Beach is also very close.
The villa has a master bedroom with en suite bath, a guest bedroom with two twin beds and a loft with pull -out futon making it comfortable for up to six persons. There is a full-size pool table in the games loft and many available board games for the kids.
Filled with beautiful paintings created by the owner the house also has available TV, DVD/CD player, a cell phone (PAYG), and high-speed internet. A washing machine and charcoal BBQ.
Please note that this house is passively cooled by Caribbean trade winds and does not have air conditioning. We would also like people to know that the Turks and Caicos Islands are a relatively safe country by Caribbean standards; however, some petty crime does occur. Guests should practice sensible safety precautions when traveling to the TCI, as they should anywhere.

A dream come true!
Our six-week stay at Taino (10/7-11/18) was our 5th trip to Provo and the first one where we didn't stay on the beach. (A car is needed but we've always rented one anyway.) Without a doubt this was the dream of a lifetime come true!
The owners, Kathleen and Simon Wood, were simply terrific! Prior to trip either of them quickly answered the many questions we had. Then we watched with some trepidation as Hurricane Irma devastated so much in the Caribbean including TCI. They were quick to fill us on on the state of Taino (which sustained no real damage except to the landscaping.) Then Maria hit but fortunately did little to Provo but yet again did much damage to Grand Turk and Salt Cay. So we decided to proceed with our plans.
Simon, an architect, designed Taino, which is one of about 10 or so homes on the Garden Loop of Grace Bay Gardens. (It is more or less behind the palm nursery and Coco Bistro if you know the island so the location is great.) It really is a place of "peace"; you can feel. It is simple but the use of space is efficient and "homey". Sitting in the living room is like sitting on a screened porch. Simply lovely! Master bedroom is en-suite and perfect. The second bedroom is adjacent to the full bath and all our guests needed. There is no AC (which admittedly made for some warm nights) but each bedroom has a ceiling fan and there are four other ceiling fans in the common space/kitchen and one in the upper level where there is a futon (as well as a pool table!) The kitchen had all you could want (except sharp knives!). Given the length of our stay we cooked many dinners and always had breakfast before hitting the beaches. We also used the small Webber grill for cooking steaks or lobster on different occasions. There is a patio table and chairs but I have suggested to the owners that they consider upgrading it. There is a "community" pool which is more than adequate and we were the only ones using it during our entire stay (although we went to the beach more of the time.) It is right across the street from the property...a walk of less than 100 feet. The property has a number of beach chairs we used at the pool and also took with us to the beach.
Probably the biggest issue we had was the number of dogs in the Loop neighborhood. Their barking seemed incessant! I realize there is not much that the owners can about this but it was an irritant.
If you're considering Taino, do it!
Mark and Pam were dream guests. Our budget-friendly cottage is intended to accommodate average income people who want to enjoy the Turks and Caicos. We rely on constructive feedback, both good and bad, to improve our guest experience. Pam and Mark were very communicative with us, allowing us to provide them with the service that was best for them. We aim to please, so we are always delighted when guests let us know what they want.
Great Location and Affordable Home
We had a great time spending the week at your cottage. The home is conveniently located to the beach, grocery store, restaurants and stores. The home owners were very quick to communicate which was helpful. Look forward to returning. Thanks again.
Very cute and cozy...enjoyed our stay!
Me and 2 of my friends spent 3 nights at Taino. This was my 5th time on the island, so rented a car and was very familiar with the beaches and restaurants. The location is PERFECT! Close to everything...grocery store, restaurants, beach....but definitely rent a car.
There were a few bugs, but not a big deal at all....most of the house was screens instead of glass windows so a few bugs are to be expected... Every morning we woke up and immediately opened the windows and was just excited and amazed by how beautiful the trees are while sitting in the living room. Could sit there all day. Having no a/c was not a big deal at all...the fans and the breeze were more than enough.
The place was clean, however there was some residual shower products left behind from a previous guest...would have preferred to not have seen someone's sponge in the shower.
Other than that...this place was worth it! Beautiful home and definitely recommended!
Beautiful cottage, close walk to beach
We stayed here march 17th-25th 2017, there was 5 of us and first impressions were great. Based on other reviews we were a little skeptical, people said the house was dirty, dead bugs, dogs barking, etc. we had no problems! There was no dead bugs in the house, house was very clean, came with fresh towels and linens and yes there are dogs that bark (that's what dogs do) but they only bark when you walk by a home down the road, not all the time. And yes, there are little lizards everywhere outside the house (it's a tropical island, again, what do you expect). There is no AC (says there isn't) but you don't even need it! The weather is perfect 80 during day, 75 at night with plenty of ceiling fans.
Such an amazing yard that goes around the whole house, full of lush trees, shrubs and flowers. In a private little residential neighborhood, just the perfect kind privacy we were looking for, (we're not hotel people) Once we got into the house it's very spaceous compared to the outside look of it. We opened the "storm windows" and immediately got sunshine and a nice view and breeze from the "sunroom-esqe" living room. This house could sleep 7 very comfortably. Washer and you dry your clothes on a clothes line (loved that).
We walked and biked everywhere, about a 10 minute walk/5 minute bike to the beach and where also everything is (dining, ice cream, grocery store, rentals). My suggestion is to rent bikes either all week or at least a day or two... Fair priced with a deposit you get back. Definitely check out snorkeling (wanted to snuba but couldn't with water conditions), fish fry, da conch shack, Coco bistro... if you're party people go to jimmy dive bar, be wary of creepy jimmy and failing toilets) but you'll thank me later for the laughs).
Did have a hard time finding it with a taxi from airport.. doesn't show up on some gps. So any future people tell your taxi driver to bring you to Coco Bistro, take a right there, go straight for .2 miles, turn right, turn right then bare left and it's the second house on the left. (1 minute drive from Coco)
All in all, we will absolutely be coming back to Turks and Caicos, and when we do, this is the only house we will be staying in. LOVED IT! Thanks Simon and Katherine!
Good location near everything, quaint cottage
This cottage is close to the beach (although we never walked or rode bikes, I suppose that you could...), near all types of shopping and dining. The house is exactly as described here and was a great fit for our group of 2 adults and 2 children. Pros - location, having lots of space (as opposed to a hotel room), big kitchen with everything and great grocery stores nearby, beautiful screen room surrounded by lush trees and bushes, owners were great to deal with and made some great recommendations for dinner, house is well worth the money. Cons - there are a lot of barking dogs nearby and the pool has no chairs.
Things that we really enjoyed in the area: ice cream place near the Salt Mills with the large cow out front (didn't get the name), Snuba excursion with Jodi (must try for people that enjoy snorkeling), snorkeling from the beach at Bight's Reef, breakfast, lunch and Pina Colada's at Somewhere on the beach, dinner at Caicos Cafe, parasailing, riding horses in the ocean with Provo Ponies. Wonderful trip! Can't wait to go back :)
Fabulous Time. I cant wait to be back!
It was my first time to Turk & Caicos and ‘’what an absolute delight!’’ The beaches were the best I've ever seen – pure paradise. The water was a deep turquoise blue with shades of light green too….and the perfect temperature.
I spent a week at Taino Cottage – a wonderful home tucked away from the crowds. I loved this place from the moment I first drove down the driveway… Its a peaceful, private cottage with a shady mature garden - beautiful trees, lush plants and bright Bougainvillea everywhere. It really felt like ‘’a home away from home’’ - comfortable, super clean and very well maintained. I also loved the island breeze that constantly flowed through the villa. It kept the rooms cool and fresh. My highlight was the outdoor patio where I had breakfast every morning under the leafy trees – a quiet & peaceful setting.
The beach & restaurants were only 5 minutes away, so everything was very close and easy to access. Nightly entertainment was great and the island food was delicious!
I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Taino Cottage is a special home, and I will definitely book here again
I pray that you enjoy the villa, the island, and the sunshine as much as I did!
