Our family has been visiting Yosemite National Park and Bass Lake for over 25 years. With endless recreational possibilities, we have made this part of the world our home away from home, and would love to share our newly renovated home with all who are interested in staying in this wonderland of the high Sierras!
Bass Lake provides all kinds water sports fun with rentals available. It is also a gateway to Yosemite and many other attractions.
After a day of venturing in Yosemite National Park or Bass Lake, you can feel right at home hiking, or water recreation, relaxation on the outside lake view deck is extremely relaxing and enjoyable with plenty of seating, BBQ, outside beverage refrigerators, and serve through window to the kitchen area.
Our experience was FANTASTIC from the moment we found the property online, to the day we (sadly) locked the front door and said goodbye. The owner was very responsive to our questions and all of our needs were met. There are grocery and misc. stores are a short drive, but one still feels away from it all. We stocked the kitchen and barely wanted to leave the place. Upon pulling up, the home exceeded our expectations. It was clean, spacious, comfortable and offered everything one might need- but not a thing more. Not clutter!! This location allowed us to enjoy an outdoor adventure with all of the creature comforts to come home to at the end of a long day. The hot tub is amazing. Staying here gave us something we could never have experienced at a hotel, quality alone time with each other only. Nice sized kitchen with clean cookware, indoor and outdoor dining areas, huge closed in yard and big cozy seating area for gathering and movies. This was the perfect space for our family gathering- couples, singles and children all happy and comfortable! While we were in the area we had 2 great days boating as Bass Lake, rode the Sugar Pine Railroad under a super moon and spent 2 days exploring Yosemite. I frankly would have been content to spend much of my time relaxing on the couch, watching movies and in the hot tub.
We just spent three nights at this amazing log cabin near Bass Lake. It was such a beautiful place to stay at, with every facility available. We stayed there with our five kids and were so comfortable at this spotlessly clean home. We enjoyed fishing on Bass Lake which is just a short car ride away and drove in to Mariposa and Yosemite for some stunning hikes. Coming home to this retreat at the end of a long day was a dream. We highly recommend this fabulous cabin!
Golden Trout Retreat really has the best of both worlds, located just 15 minutes to the South Gate Entrance to the incomparable Yosemite National Park, and just 10 minutes to Bass Lake, named by Sunset Magazine as one of 'The West's Best Lakes'!
Heading to Yosemite for the day, within a 15-minute car ride from Golden Trout Retreat, you’ll arrive at the Yosemite’s South Gate Ranger Station. This is also home to Mariposa Grove, California’s Giant Redwood Trees, the oldest living things in the world. From here you can park at the shuttle bus parking area and catch a short two-mile shuttle ride to the grove. From Mariposa Grove heading further into the Park, you’ll arrive at Wawona Golf course the first regulation golf course in the Sierra Nevada that opened in 1918. If a round of golf isn’t on your agenda for the day, then head on to the incomparable Yosemite Valley, not just a great valley, but a shrine to human foresight, the strength of granite, the power of glaciers, the persistence of life, and the tranquility of the High Sierra. Truly one of earths gems. First protected in 1864, Yosemite National Park is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more.
But before you head down to the valley you may want to head up to Glacier Point on Glacier Point Road. At an elevation 7,200 feet at night you fell as though you can touch the stars, an amazing location the see meteor showers! But during the day the breathtaking views of Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, Nevada and Vernal Falls will be with you forever.
