We enjoyed our stay! The house is well stocked and clean. The owner did check in to make sure everything was ok. We utilized the cooking area and fire pit outside almost every night. Although we did not have children with us I would say this place is very kid friendly. We brought our pets with us and they stayed leashed. The pets enjoyed their stay too! There is a convenient walkway halfway down to the lake. The view of the lake is beautiful. We saw deer every morning from the front porch. It is very quiet and peaceful. There is a marina about 20 minutes from the cabin where we rented a boat for the day. The lake is breathtaking. We also went to see the bridal veil waterfall. A must see if you haven’t been there. Everyone is pleasant in the area. The views are extraordinary. I definitely recommend this cabin for anyone wanting a family friendly vacation. I will definitely be back.
Very nice and comfortable house. Beds were very comfortable and deck and patio were great.
Enjoyed staying here. Everything was clean, comfortable, and cozy. Nicely decorated and the deck and patio were great to just hang out and relax. Very quiet and peaceful place. Would definitely recommend.
The "woodsy" atmosphere and nearness to the lake made for a relaxing stay for my family. We were only a couple of miles from the Dam Site Park where we could put in our boat. All the windows and the back porch area made us feel we were surrounded by nature. The only minor criticism I have is that we could find no washcloths.
Thank you for staying with us.
There is a boat launch and swimming area (sand beach) approx. 1.2 miles away from the house at the end of Old Hwy 25. No need to drive across the dam to Dam Site Park.
The house features a covered Front Porch overlooking the lake shore which is only 300 feet away.
The house sits on a private 2.5 acres lot with mature trees. A walkway with stairs / path lead to the lake shore past an outside seating area just below the house.
There is a ample supply of wash clothes and towels under the sink in the hall way bathroom and on the shelves in the master bath.
If you can not find an item please do not hesitate to contact us.
Clean, Quite, Comfortable. Loved it!
Upon arrival, our 3yo immediately fell in love with the "bridge" from the driveway to the entrance of the house. It's just a small elevated section of decking, but he loved crossing the "bridge" every time we went into the house. The kitchen and living room area are open, very nice. Although we did not use them, the barstools at the kitchen counter would be great. Each bedroom has a comfortable bed and overhead fan...a must given the AR summer heat. The bathtub in the guest bathroom was a plus for our family with little kids. Had we been travling without kids, we would definitely have utilized the outdoor cooking and sitting areas more! The trek down to the water was nicely cleared and pretty easy. There are large rocks at water's edge that make sitting very easy. The house is conveniently located less than 10min drive from the marina, making a boat rental pretty easy. My two suggestions for a smoother stay would be to have the property entrance better marked with the address and to have electrical outlet covers installed for those traveling with kids!
Memorial Day Getaway
The cabin was very nice. There were 6 of us and we were very comfortable. Outside was even better with the huge deck and then the grill level. We wished some of the trees were gone to have a better view, but it was a great place to stay.
Wonderful lakeside cabin
Visiting relatives and decided to opt for cabin instead of hotel. Great choice and super wonderful cabin. Very clean and quite!
GREERS FERRY LAKE: Greers Ferry Lake is an outdoor paradise, popular for water sports, boating, cliff diving, camping, hiking, fishing, wood biking, motocross and four-wheeling. The area extends from Ozark foothills to the edge of the delta and includes two beautiful lakes, the Little Red River, some of the most beautiful caverns, springs, and waterfalls in the world as well as lots of trails for hiking, motorcycling and four-wheeling.
FISIHING: Anglers can fish for largemouth bass, white bass hybrids, walleye and trout all in the same day. Greers Ferry Lake holds the world record for walleye and hybrid striper. And the Little Red River holds the record for German brown trout. The lake and river are stocked with every game fish native to the state is stocked by the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission.
BOATING: The lake is 40,000 acres of deep sparkling clear water and fun. There's plenty of room so boaters, sail boaters, water-skiers, house boaters, scuba divers and the party barges seldom cross paths. Launch your boat for free 2 minutes away next to the sandy beach at the bottom of Old Highway 25 operated by the Corps of Engineers There’s no dock at the house, but you can pull up to the shore, anchor your boat and walk from the boat to the house throughout your stay. The path up to the house is gently sloped and easily walkable.
NATURE TRAILS: Nature trails abound. In fact all you have to do is walk down to the lake and follow the shoreline for the easiest most enjoyable hike. There are developed trails all over the area and an especially nice one winding up Sugar Loaf Mountain, an island in the lake west of the house, which affords breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding countryside from its summit which is 500 feet above the surface area of the lake.
BLANCHARD CAVERN SPRINGS: Breathtaking caverns and gorgeous springs and waterfalls are about an hour's drive north. Take a tour of the cave to beat the heat in the summer. The cave stays a comfortable 58 degrees Fahrenheit year-round. The cave is often called the “living cave” because its constantly changing and growing. The main room is the size of three football fields and has a 100 foot ceiling. Be sure to check out the springs and waterfalls while you are there.
BRIDAL VEIL WATER FALLS: An hour southeast are some of the prettiest waterfalls in the area. Bridal Veil Falls are named for their similarity to a bride's veil. So, don't fret if the rain keeps you from boating. Just hop in your car and check out these gems. You can park so close that you can be at the top of the falls within a couple minutes and reach the bottom a few minutes later. If you like to rock hop, follow the stream south and take a left at the first fork to find the second set of falls.
BUFFALO RIVER: 1 1/2 hour northwest is the best canoeing, kayaking, and floating in the region. The Buffalo river is simply unsurpassed in beauty. The completely pristine natural (undammed) river runs 150 miles past 500 foot tall sandstone and limestone bluffs. Almost all of it is managed by the National Park Service. You can rent a float or canoe at any outfitters and experience the most relaxing day of your life. Buffalo River Outfitters on Hwy 65
GOLF: The golf courses are gorgeous and challenging. Tannenbaum Resort Golf, Mountain Ranch Golf Course , Lost Creek Golf Club, Indian Hills Golf Club , Red Apple Inn Golf Club
FLEA MARKET AND ANTIQUE STORES: If you like antiquing and flea markets you will be in heaven. There are dozens of shops to discover literally in any direction you choose to drive. Of course, Hwy 65 between Branson and Conway offers the most popular spots, but don't miss my favorite - Tumbling Shoals Flea Market near Heber Springs. Open every day but Tuesday, only 5 minutes from the cabin.
RESTAURANTS: Good selection of family type dining 10 to 15 minutes away in Heber Springs. Upscale dining at Red Apple Inn on Eden Isle. Jansens on the lake can be reach by boat after a nice ride across the lake. Weekend brunch there is our favorite
HORSE BACK RIDING: Red River Riding Stables are 30 minutes away from the house toward Fairfield Bay. The owner is Steve Swenson. Steve built the huge old fashioned stables. They offer guided 45 and 90 minute trail rides overlooking the Little Red River.
CARDBOARD BOAT RACES The world championship cardboard boat races are held on Sandy Beach Greers Ferry Lake in Heber Springs the weekend of July 28th. This event is a blast. The boats are creative, funny, and amazing.
