Why James Mckenzie chose Georgia

I built this home as a retirement home. It's the most peaceful place i know. But has a lot of fast pace actives just a few miles away.

What makes this cottage unique

Salt water fisherman's paradise, Bird watching actives in every direction. Quite peaceful walk to an amazing sunrise. Beautiful marsh view sunset.

Incredibly Beautiful & Well Maintained!

  • 5 of 5

Our recent stay at this property near Darien, GA was one of our best experiences ever. It was quiet and off the main roads -- but close enough to towns and attractions to provide us with many options and sites to see during the days. The home was so beautiful and had everything our family needed. All we had to bring was or food. It is modern and spacious and extremely comfortable. The owners were accommodating and offered good advice on things to do.

The home itself offers three spacious bedrooms with a king suite upstairs, and two additional bedrooms downstairs (one with a queen bed and one with a full). My wife and I enjoyed early morning coffee outside on the rear deck and evenings talks as we watched the sun set over the trees and the marsh in the back yard.

We had so much fun fishing and shopping and sightseeing that we have decided to make this home a regular part of our annual vacation experiences. We are already making plans to return soon.

Well kept, clean home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week and loved the country atmosphere. James was responsive to any questions we had. We would recommend this home if you want to just get away from everything but yet you are close enough to day trips to Brunswick and Savannah.

Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home, it was clean and well equipped, we felt right at home .We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets from the amazing deck. I wish the weather was cooler so we could of opened up the french doors. It also has another deck, which has a grill on it. The house had everything we needed, and then some. Although it was just the 2 of us and we only used the master bedroom , I did notice the 2 other bedrooms were just as nice and they also had tv's in them. We didn't get the opportunity to meet James but he was very easy to work with and responsive to our emails.

Although it was secluded and away from it all, it was in the perfect location for many day trips.

I would recommend going to Skippers Fish Camp for dinner, although the whole area has delicious fresh local shrimp. There is a little store in Darien called Turnip Greens, they sell fresh local fruits and vegetables, I will say I purchased the best watermelon I have ever eaten there. We went to Sapelo Island. You have to go to Sapelo Island Vistors Center to arrange your tour, it's very close to the cottage. It takes about 4 hours including the ferry ride which is the only way to get there.Other day tips included Savannah, St. Simmons Island, and Brunswick.

We would love to stay here again. We thank you for being pet friendly and not taking advantage of us like some rentals try to with outrageous pet fees and deposits
