This funky Government Camp vacation rental is just the cutest little cabin in the woods; a perfect vacation spot for your next excursion to the Mt. Hood area. With its retro ski-lodge theme, you'll feel more like you've booked a stay in the Alps! Part of the Government Camp Loop, this home offers amazing access to the beautiful and wild outdoors, and brings you ample space for a large group of your loved ones.
Your adorable Government Camp cabin rental is ready for you and your favorite people to kick back and relax, or prepare for an epic outdoor adventure. There's Wi-Fi to check snow reports and hiking trail conditions, and for the night time, a flat screen TV with a DVD player. Did we mention the wood-burning stove for extra coziness during the cold winter nights? The living room leads out to your amazing deck with spectacular views.
The full-kitchen is snug, but will surprise you with all it has to offer: all the necessary appliances, and even a few extras like a blender and a coffee maker. Get the whole family involved by sitting them at the window-seats to chop and grate and stir.
This is a three-level home, with three bedrooms plus a loft. There is a king and a queen bed and four twin beds - plenty of space for all nine of your guests (ten, if you don't mind a tight squeeze). Enjoy access to the shared laundry room with the nearby unit, for cleaning up after that mud fight you "accidentally" got into at Trillium Lake.
Mt. Hood National Forest is ready for your exploration: skiing - both alpine and nordic; snowshoeing; hiking, biking, and cross-country running. Or take it a little slower and admire the wildflowers or watch for wildlife and birds. Enjoy Government Camp's local eateries and breweries. Any season, with your family or your friends, this little Mt. Hood chalet is a great spot to enjoy the mountains in all their splendor.
Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.
Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.
Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!
Great location, quick walk to town and wonderful views of the mountain and as well as all of the activity through town. We thought the house looked so quaint and cute in the pictures but to be honest we were pretty disappointed.
This place is dirty and needs a very thorough cleaning. There is mildew on the bathroom ceiling, dead flies behind the dressers, stains on most of the duvet covers , all of the plates in the cabinet were dirty with caked on food, the refrigerator is old and missing on of the large drawers, there is no can opener, no spatula, dull knives, a missing cover for the crockpot (we planned a meal around it), a big safety concern -- the top bunk is missing its rail so no kids could use it, there is no curtain in the top master room which makes it annoyingly bright at 6am, one of the bedroom's claims to be a queen but measured a full, there are also random old & dusty things in the closets (lamps, wires, musty blankets, old ski clothes). The biggest inconvenience was that the dryer was broken. Unfortunately we found this out after we did a load of laundry. We called Vacasa and due to the timing/busy New Year holiday they could not get anyone up to fix it. They offered to reimburse us the money if we went in town to use the laundromat. Vacasa was able to locate a can opener and couple shovels that were missing so we could shovel the walk/stairs.
Also, the deck is torn down so it probably makes sense to chance the house description since that is no longer a selling feature. And as a courtesy, I would recommend a mention in the house description that no wood is provided for the stove. Not a huge deal but would have been a nice heads up so that we could have prepared better.
The kitchen is small but workable. Bedrooms warm up quickly with their own thermostats and the loft is a nice addition to the overall space. There is no main table and the one pictured in the photos was outside in the shed covered in ski wax, there is also an obnoxiously large television hanging above one of the couches-- which could be distracting when you are trying to watch a movie.
This is not the most expensive house at the mountain...I get it, but there seems to be a general lack of care for this place. A check list by housekeeping could alleviate some of these issues.
I have rented from both VRBO and Vacasa before with out any incidents. I'm just surprised by state of this house given the reviews. It definitely needs some love.
We spent our Thanksgiving here and couldn't have been happier. It's not luxurious, but full of fun, eclectic decor. It was completely comfortable and within walking distance to the charming town of Government Camp. It's perfect for skiers and families that need a little more room - very spacious. We had everything that we needed. The management was responsive when I had a question and I would definitely come back and stay here again.
My husband, 4 yr old daughter, and I stayed in the upper chalet for a weekend getaway during off season. Be sure to read all of the reviews to get a good picture of this place. It is a cute place with lots of potential, but be prepared for lots of imperfections. It was definitely functional and did what we needed it too, but everything is pretty worn and could use a good deep cleaning. If you are looking for an inexpensive convenient place for a group to stay so you can ski or just explore, then this place is perfect. If you are looking for a comfy getaway, you might want to consider some of the other rentals in the area. The location was fantastic, and we overall really enjoyed our trip!
House is interestingly appointed but works very well. Beds are good quality
If you have the full 8 or 10 guests sharing is required, there is only one bathroom.
Vacasa keeps the house tidy, lots of clean towels and good quality sheets.
The small kitchen works well for a couple of people to prepare dinners but be ready to organize a dishwashing crew = no dishwasher
Not fancy but it was conveniently located for the price. Watch out for loose steps.
Although the house needs all around cleaning and updates, it's a great locations and great price for the size! It could use a whole new updated kitchen for those families that like to cook. We would Stay again with some updates!
