Being creative and independent individuals, we moved to San Francisco over 30 years ago. We're artists and have enjoyed making our home one of our many creative projects. We take great pleasure in gardening, cooking, and all the wonderful cultural and outdoor activities San Francisco and our special neighborhood has to offer.

Jim and David's property is really lovely, and was perfect for our visit to SF! It's in a very convenient location, close to public transport, Whole Foods, bars and restaurants. The house itself is great - in particular the garden and upstairs living room/kitchen - and had everything we needed for our stay.
Jim and David are great hosts, and were in regular contact before our stay as well as meeting us at the apartment for a quick tour to get us settled.
I would highly recommend this property!
I come to San Francisco every year for a week long conference. I usually try to stay near the Moscone Center, but I've been finding myself staying farther and farther away each year. This year I was lucky to find this cottage. It's not close to the Moscone Center, but only two short blocks to the MUNI and a 9 minute train ride. It was perfect. It actually took me less time to get to the conference with much less walking.
It was an added bonus to be able to get away from the hectic conference each night to a great cottage in a nice quiet neighborhood. I was able to unwind every evening and start the day refreshed every morning.
Close to great restaurants just a block away on Haight, a short walk to Safeway and Whole Foods....
Like I said ...perfect
We are frequent visitors to SF, staying in neighborhoods all over the city as we consider where we might retire. We had an exceptionally wonderful visit to the Lower Haight and stay in this wonderful condo. We enjoyed the many restaurant and dining options, which range from a sausage place where you go to the bar next door to eat and order beer, so one of the City's top ramen restaurants where the lines are long by 6 PM (we arrived at 5:30 and were seated immediately). The patio/garden was truly an oasis for us. We sat outside for a couple of hours the night we arrived enjoying a bottle of wine and the babbling water sound from the small fountain buried inside an explosion of flowering plants. Friends came over our second day in the condo and we spent a couple of hours outside talking before dinner and another couple of hours after dinner.
When the weather turned cold for a couple of days, the upper floor living area was a nice, intimate spot for sharing glasses of wine with friends -- we hosted friends 4 times during our 7 day stay -- in cozy atmosphere full of interesting art objects and personal touches provided by our hosts.
One of the best aspects of the location is the proximity to all the major Metro lines. They all pass within two blocks of the condo, which means it is possible to get on the Metro and be to most areas of town in 10-15 minutes, far faster than driving and parking. I highly recommend the Muni phone app, which allows you to buy and use tickets on your phone. The Muni fares are for 90 minutes, which we generally found sufficient to get to your destination and back if that was our plan. For instance, we went to the Saturday farmer's market at the Ferry building, arriving in 10 minutes, spending an hour walking around and noshing a bit, and were still able to catch the Metro back to the neighborhood on the original fare. Lyft and Uber cars are everywhere in this area, sometimes across the street at the coffee shop, and the fares are very inexpensive because the location is right in the middle of everywhere you are likely to want to go.
On this trip we also discovered SF is a beach town. On all our visits, we never really bothered with the beach, but the Judah line is a short ride to a beach community that rivals the funkiness of a Santa Cruz with Golden Gate Park on your flank. We especially enjoyed the Pacific Coast Trail hike to the Golden Gate Bridge.
The condo is "compact and efficient." Perfect for this couple.
Oh my gosh the minute we walked in to Jim & David's place we felt at home. They were helpful to us from the first contact, and their house just sealed the deal. This place is so centrally located you would never need a car. Using Lyft and Tranisit got us everywhere. And if you needed a car GetAround or other share car programs are nearby. The home is so tranquil in this bustling city. Perfect place to come home after a long sight seeing day. And plenty of places to eat within walking distance. It just doesn't get any better. And they supplied coffee beans too!!!!
A really great location, great space, and incredible garden and plantings surrounding the house. This property was as advertised and did not disappoint. The best feature was its location. In the immediate area are interesting shops, houses, and restaurants with one of the great San Francisco coffee houses, Café Du Soleil, right across the street. Another option for breakfast or lunch only 2+ blocks away was Duboce Park Café. For dinner, one of San Francisco’s great restaurants, Zuni Café was a short walk away on Market Street. Several interesting areas were within easy walking distance: Hayes Street, the Castro, Filmore Street in Pacific Heights, and South of Market. Also, the Muni and Bart are only two blocks away. I was able to be in the Union Square area in only 20 minutes using the MUNI. The space, particularly the garden area and the upstairs living areas, was terrific. I got a lot of work done in those areas when not exploring the city. Finally, the hosts, David and Jim were very thoughtful and available when needed. My only disappointment and “heads up” is that the Apple TV is for movies and is not a TV. Make other arrangements for your major TV needs if you have some.
Nice owners, clean flat. (The full canister of fresh coffee beans was very appreciated.) Quiet neighbors, always felt safe and secure. Kitchen was easy to use and cook (awesome has stove!), food shops and pharmacy close by for most things needed. Great location, never felt far from anything. Never needed taxi service (Sorry, Uber!) You'll love the convenience. And the little cafe on the corner was a nice way to start the mornings (very good espressos).
I recommend this property very highly!! Thank you, Jim, for making SF even more special!
Located in the heart of San Francisco's Lower Haight neighborhood this charming urban garden oasis, and what neighbors like to refer to as the 'Country Cottage', has all the amenities a city dweller could ask for. Public transportation, restaurants and cafes, grocery stores, art galleries, bars, parks, hiking and gyms are all within walking distance. Museums, world class shopping, live theatre, beaches, and all the major tourist attractions are also easily accessible by public transportation located right out your front door. The F Line on Market St. will take you to Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, and downtown within 10 to 15 minutes. The famous Castro District, Haight St., Mission District and Civic Center Plaza are within easy walking distance as well. You could not be more perfectly situated to enjoy this fine city by the bay.
If you like hiking the area has one of the most wonderful hikes to the top of Buena Vista Park near by. Once at the top you'll experience breathtaking views of Golden Gate Bridge, surrounding neighborhoods, downtown and the bay. But bring a lunch because there's a wonderful green park at the top perfect for sunning or a picnic.
If you're into fitness San Francisco is a biking town with the famous 'Wiggle' bike route just a block away. There are also two gyms within walking distance on Market St., 24 Hour Fitness and SF Fitness. Both top-rated facilities with all the amenities and personal trainers on staff.
For dining there are dozens of first class restaurants just steps away. Literally anything the heart could desire for even the most discerning palette. Enjoy Asian, Indian, Mexican, California cuisine, sea food, burgers or pizza. Or stay at home and order delivery. Fine French deserts, pastries and coffees are also available at Café Soleil just across the street.
And the best part is after a day of sightseeing you can come home to relax in your private mediation garden, with a glass of chilled wine next to a warm fire.
