10/10 would stay again

  • 5 of 5

Places like this are few and far between. As another reviewer wrote, the real gem is what is outside, although the house is nice too. The children had room to run. Fishing, boat, & trail. We even got to see two bear around the pond. Thank you Jeff & Carol.

The property was beautiful! The kids had a great time fishing and catching salamanders in the pond. There was plenty of wildlife- deer, turkeys, owls, and even a black bear who made a visit to cool off in the pond! Would love to visit again in the future!

Second trip to Cabin Run, hidden paradise, we will return

  • 5 of 5

This is the second year that my wife and I, and several of our closest friends, have stayed at Cabin Run. There is so much to say about this magical location. For us the Summer Solstice is a time to escape and celebrate summer time and our friends, and Cabin Run has been the best place for us to do just that.

The accommodations are more than comfortable, clean, and well looked after. If you want all the modern bells and whistles, loads of technology and to stay connected, this probably isn't the best place for you. If you want to step away from it all, leave your cell phone off (most of us didn't have reception, but there is a landline), and enjoy quality time with the people in your life, well, then this is the place.

The kitchen was fully stocked with anything we could need equipment wise to make meals, and as usual we over prepared and often had double of what we needed. The beds were very comfortable and clean. If you want lots of room for privacy and your own space, this house is also great for that, or you can enjoy the wonderful communal spaces.

The real gem here is the outside space. The pond is truly incredible for swimming, and hanging out. Two years in a row we enjoyed sunny, warm weather. The first year we didn't have a dog with us, but now our little canine friend joined us and she was so excited with all the space to run, and to bark at us as we swam the day away. The nearby hiking trail was also loved by several of our friends. The open yard space was great for frisbee with friends and our pup.

Carol has always been amazing, great at providing us with information, keeping in touch if needed, and both years we were welcome with a lovely note and cookies, plus this year Frosty Paw's for our pup.

We plan to come back for the same weekend next year. I know there is also much to see in the local area, and maybe one day we will explore more, but for us this is a perfect retreat to spend time with those we love. We all agree that this is our summer spot, and while we have tried other places, this is the real natural (yet comfortable) escape we all (young professionals ranging from their mid 20s to mid 40s) need. Thank you again Carol and Jeff, we hope to return for a long time to come!

Great Getaway for 6 Adults

  • 4 of 5

A beautiful location with great proximity to the PA Grand Canyon and Cherry Springs State Park. It had everything we needed to cook in the kitchen and we loved relaxing on the back porch. Exactly what we were looking for and had plenty of space for 6 adults and 3 dogs. The rustic and secluded feel you would want for a weekend with family in the woods.

We just returned from our second stay at Mountain Pond and vowed to return once more. So private, so serene, with a pond for the dogs and trails right out the back door. The state parks are readily accessible, too. It's clean and comfortable. Enjoy!
