About the property

Very Short Walk To Trout Creek Rec Ctr, Playground, Restaurant/Bar & Small Store

Although you wouldn't know it, our condo is 'next door' to the Trout Creek Rec Ctr (with its year round pool(s), hot tubs, steam room, sauna, work out/weights room, etc), the only local convenience/deli/coffee store in Tahoe Donner, and the Lodge restaurant/Pub/Golf Clubhouse/Pro shop. It's a perfect spot if some guests want to venture out by car, yet others want to hang around 'home.' Condo is set way back from the road so is nice and quiet, and overlooks the 18th hole through filtering, tall pine trees.

Cozy 2-bed, 1 1/2 bath 'end' condo with parking. It's more like a townhouse with only one adjoining wall. Queen bed in both bedrooms. Small sleeping loft above kitchen/dining room suitable for older children and agile adults only. 2 decks with a tree-filtered view of the 18th green. Warm gas fireplace. Baseboard heaters in each room. Wood-beamed ceilings: vaulted upstairs. Quiet location at back of complex. Cable TV, DVD/VCR, and WiFi. Kitchen has everything we think you'll need. Laundry Room in complex.

Many dates available, possibly at short notice. We may also be interested in a vacation home swap anywhere!

Tahoe Donner is a wonderful mountain community in the North Lake Tahoe Truckee region of the Sierras, and offers an amazing variety of recreational facilities -- some for members and guests (you!) only. With your 'guest card' ($12 pp per day, or $8 pp if physically with a member) you gain access to the private HOA amenities. Children under 7 - no charge. Take a look as there is 'everything' seasonally available: private beach on Donner Lake, cross-country and downhill skiing, pools, hot tubs, sauna, steam room, massage, classes, ping pong, tennis, horseback riding, mountain and road biking, golf, nature walks, stunning hiking trails ... and the list goes on! To us, it's like a 5-star resort.

10 minutes drive from beautiful and interesting downtown old Truckee. Plenty of shops and restaurants to peruse. Lake Tahoe shores at Tahoe City is a pretty 15 mile drive down Hwy 89 (which parallels the Truckee River.) Very easy access to Hwy 80. Half an hour or less to Reno, NV.

20 minutes or so drive to skiing at Squaw, Alpine, Northstar and Sugar Bowl, downhill, and Royal Gorge XC.

No smoking or pets.

About Wendy

We are a family of four who have been going to Tahoe every winter to ski. Now that we have a place of our own we have fallen in love with the Tahoe area in the spring/summer/fall as well. It truly is a beautiful, magical place any time of the year.

Wendy purchased this condo in 2013

Why Wendy chose Truckee

We met one another at Squaw Valley one morning before setting off to the ski slopes at Squaw Valley. My husband proposed on the spot where we met! All four of us now have many lovely memories of this whole region - skiing, sledding, snowman building, boating, hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, river rafting, sitting on the deck reading a book, playing board games, and the list goes on and on.

What makes this condo unique

We stayed at a friend's house in Tahoe Donner and funnily enough, had never been to TD before. We were so impressed with the Tahoe Donner amenities and its wide-open spaces. After looking at many different houses and condos, we stumbled across, in our view, this perfectly located condo and snapped it up. The location just cannot be beat for the conveniences, and we have lovely tree views out the back and it's quiet. When looking out the living room large window, it's like tree-camping, but without the tents and all that hassle! In the winter, we have easy access to the main road, Northwoods, which is probably the first one the city snowplows. It's fun to see the chipmunks, rabbits and birds play around right outside our windows as well as hear the sound of a golf ball being hit in the distance during summer.

Great location and comfortable accommodations

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Wendy’s condo, and we enjoyed another wonderful stay. The condo is clean, quiet, and comfortable; the location is perfect - short walk to Trout Creek Rec Center, The Lodge, and Z Market, and a short drive to all of the other TD amenities. The condo is on the golf course, and our young kids loved “hiking” along the cart path, and playing with the many games available in the condo.

Wendy is very responsive and a pleasure to interact with.

We’ll be back!

Family fun in Truckee

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time staying at this condo for summer fun. The place was perfect for our family of 4 (kids age 4 and 7). It was in a beautiful location very close to a small store and the lovely pool. We walked there daily. It was also a short drive from many restaurants and a lovely lake with a beach and lots of free parking. Close enough to Tahoe to enjoy the area, but really there is no need to leave Truckee at all. We will definitely plan to visit again. The only drawback was that it is close enough to an event venue that music was on late one night and we couldn't do anything about it. Thanks for sharing your wonderful spot with us!

Owner's Response: Hi Debra, We're so glad you and your young family enjoyed your stay at our condo. I'm also pleased that we managed to return your daughters' jackets to them! On some summer nights, the Lodge hosts weddings and the noise of the ceremony and music can carry over. They have to turn the music off at 10 pm prompt. Sorry for that inconvenience.

Owner's Response: We're so pleased you had a wonderful time. We never tire in seeing the beauty of the Truckee area and so enjoy hiking in Tahoe Donner, or taking a walk (or bike) along the new path that leads you to the historical downtown area.

Too much nightlife for a cabin in the woods

  • 3 of 5

The condo was clean and comfortable. Many amenities were convenient, maybe too convenient. In an attempt to be festive, or maybe for private parties, a DJ in the clubhouse by the pool blasted sad oldies throughout the neighborhood from 7 to 10 on Friday and Saturday nights. We left early so we wouldn't have to hear the noise Sunday. No music schedule is posted on the Tahoe Donner website, perhaps you should check with the owners about music schedules if you want a peaceful stay in the mountains.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice comments on our condo and the Tahoe Donner amenities. We are sorry your stay was disturbed, on both Friday and Saturday night, which is unusual. On some Summer nights, The Lodge caters for parties, outdoor weddings mostly, and they don't publish a schedule. On a hot night, with the rear condo doors and windows open, the outdoors event noise does drift over. We too have heard the oldies music from 7 - 10 pm on occasion. Amplified music needs to stop at 10 p.m. per Tahoe Donner noise ordinance regulations, as it becomes "quiet time" throughout the whole of Tahoe Donner, and The Lodge does adhere to that "on the dot."
