About the property

3700 sq ft. home -7 bedrooms, 3 full baths (1 with whirlpool bathtub)

The floor plan is simple and open, sunlight animates the interior and accentuates its openness, blurring the distinction between inside and out. Large expansive windows and glass doors give this home a feeling of abundance, allowing enormous amounts of natural light to shine through.

Get in touch with nature by letting the outside into the house through breathtaking ocean and mountain views, sunlight and wide-open windows and doorways that let fresh air rush in. This house boasts covered patios, courtyards, and roof decks making the indoor-outdoor transition perfect for casual living. The 8-foot tall, all glass, French doors expand the main living space out to the sunny east-facing back terrace. Flowering rose vines spilling across the yard to the outdoor fireplace enables a living room without roof or walls.

Though the gourmet kitchen is well suited to cooking, its finely crafted cabinetry creates the perfect setting for lively conversation. When tired, retire to one of the 6 gently-colored bedrooms on the main floor and retreat from a noisy world.

Walk up the open staircase, brightly lit from the glass doors above, and discover not only a roof deck with ocean views, but a stupendous separate living space overflowing with light and the sounds and smells of the ocean in front.

A generous master suite puts some space between the parent’s quarters and the children’s (or another couple’s). Lie in bed and watch as the mountains to the south change color with the setting sun or watch the sun rise to the east over the back bay.

About Tina Jo Stephens

Dawn Stephens (on the left) was born in Burbank, California, the heart of the San Fernando Valley. Nature outings for the city dwelling family were their weekend camping trips to the beach until they purchased a 10 acre mountain ranch when Dawn was in the 5th grade.

“I always loved the beach but when we bought the ranch, I fell in love with the mountains too.' Now, I have finally have both.

Dawn spent the next 20 years off and on in school culminating in a PhD from UC Berkeley in Sport Psychology which led her to an academic career as a professor at the University of Iowa. After 13 wonderful years of teaching, research and running a doctoral program, Dawn returned to the Pacific Ocean on a spring break trip to Baja California, Mexico and fell in love with the area. Four months later she purchased a small beach house where she retired a year and a half later. Her aging parents joined her south of the border to live out their days gazing out into the waves.

Tina Jo (on right) was born and raised in Chicago Illinois. She grew up in a traditional Italian family in a close knit neighborhood where everyone kept an eye on everyone else’s kids and the children ran freely throughout the neighborhood.

Tina Jo’s childhood home was surrounded by her mother’s prized rose bushes with a huge organic vegetable garden taking up half the family’s backyard. Like most Italian households there was always a pot of gravy (that’s what ‘real’ Italians called tomato sauce according to her Mom) or soup on the stove for the many visitors that would pass through. The kitchen was the center of everything of family life in our house!

Growing up in the kitchen, it’s no wonder that today Tina Jo is a highly respected Gourmet Raw Vegan Chef, Author, Speaker and Coach. She holds a certification in Plant-based Nutrition from Cornell University and is a graduate of the renowned Living Light Culinary Institute.

Tina Jo Stephens purchased this house in 2005

Guestbook comments from the owner

I took my family and mother to this wonderful oasis for Christmas last year. There were only 5 of us so we had more than ample room. We love basking in the sun on the balcony's and listening to the ocean waves. My mother loved rocking in the rockers and enjoying the peace and serenity. The house is decorated so cozy and has all the essentials making us feel right at home. Tina Jo and Dawn lovely hosts and were able to assist or help us with any questions or concerns with the house and the Punta Banda area. We loved this vacation and will be back to stay with them again, and again!

Fantastic House, great hosts

  • 5 of 5

Casa de amor is a very large and comfortable house, which was perfect for our large group. We had around 25 people so we rented this house and the house across the street so we had direct access to the beach. The house is fully equipped with everything you you will need in the kitchen and bedrooms. Our hosts were very nice and helpful as well. I highly recommend this house for large groups.

Beautiful home with lots of extras, close to La Bufadora

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Casa de Amor for my birthday with a group of 12 friends. There was more than enough room for all of us and it was a very comfortable stay for everyone. This house is perfect for groups. It's just down the street from La Bufadora and about a 20 minute drive to town. They also have horses available for you to ride and kayaks available for rent. I was told by a local that these horses are rescues, which makes this place even that much better, in my opinion (kudos to you ladies!). There are upper and lower patios with incredible views to relax and an outdoor grill downstairs. We also had a local come by each morning to sell us homemade tamales for $1 each... BONUS!

These ladies have great taste! The home is beautifully designed and well stocked. It's very spacious with two living areas and a large kitchen. There are amazing views from every room and the home is located right across from the beach.

Thanks, Tina Jo and Dawn... I'll be back!

Comfortable house

  • 1 of 5

There is no address to the house and directions given are horrible. The house is comfortable with a bunch of negatives. Bathroom doors are glass and offer no privacy. You can't use very much water and showers do not work; the water is either too cold or too hot, nothing in the middle. Communication with the owner was a disaster. Kept calling and never return a call.

Deposit has not been returned even though their contract specifies 14 days and it has been 3.5 weeks since my stay. I would definitely not stay at this house again.

Owner's Response: I do believe Sergio we went above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. The difficulty began soon after we ask about the number of guest staying in our home. You where abusive with your language and down right rude! In all the years working with VRBO, I have NEVER had to threaten a guest with police action!! In fact, I have never had such outrageously horrific experience with a guest...ever!

Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Its was a comfortable home the only thing i recommend to bring on your own is an iron and blow dryer everything else was ok we requested a broom and extra trash bags as we wanted to clean a little after ourselves being that there was alot of trash there were 7of us in one home. It can be messy it was a little diffucult trying to get hot water but once you got it its easier to maneuver. We had some technicalities with the water but it was fixed right away when we rang the owners. They Are very nice, the rooms were clean restrooms and the linens also and we had more then enough towels too. Quick access to the beach to.
