Perfect spot for a quick getaway!
My husband and I stayed here for a three-day hiking trip and loved it. This is a great little cabin with just enough space for two (maybe three) people. The kitchen was well equipped - we cooked breakfast every morning, packed lunches for our hikes and grilled stuff for dinner at the cabin two of the three nights. Located close enough to good hiking spots, not too far from grocery stores, restaurants and gas stations, yet removed enough from the hustle and bustle of local towns to make it feel remote. We lucked out and happened to hit the week when the Blue Ridge Mountains were at peak color for the autumn season, so the mountain view from the back deck was gorgeous. We are already planning a return trip for next year!
Relaxing and Beautiful
My husband, son and I stayed here for three nights while we explored Mt. Mitchell and its surrounding areas. This location is relaxing and beautiful. If you are looking for a place to get away from your everyday routine and stress this is the place for you. The cabin was clean and stocked with kitchenware and bedding. The view from the back deck is breath taking. The pool was a big hit with the family after we returned from our days' hikes. The cabin is right across from the pool and club house.
One tip is to make sure you get all of your grocery needs taken care of before arriving at your cabin. There is no quick run to the store (We loved this). The grocery store is about 45 minutes away. We were ready due to Mike's excellent notes and directions.
A wonderful stay!
A great experience all around. We went predominantly to wind down and enjoy some of the beautiful hikes and scenery. Brenda, who runs the office could not have been more friendly and helpful and Mike was very prompt and informative in his responses to me. Initially I had concerns about the lack of A/C, but even with temps in the high 80`s in mid July the cabin was comfortable with the aid of fans. The pool was especially great to come back to after a long hike. I would thoroughly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet relaxing vacation.
Quiet peaceful and cozy. The perfect respite from busy work life.
Far enough off the beaten track, but not remote enough to be uncomfortable. We went in the summer, which afforded cool mountain nights with windows open, warm pleasant days. So many day trip activities you could take a month seeing them all.
A cozy vacation experience in a beautiful setting
First, I'd like to thank Mike Rima for opening Robin 2 to us on such short notice. His cabin, situated in the beautiful setting of Little Alpine Village, is the perfect getaway for a long weekend in the mountains. It's something we've done before and a habit we'd like to continue.
Robin 2 was well provisioned with firewood and supplies in the pantry. The view on the back deck was magnificent. The weather was alternately sunny, cool and wet, which is just what we wanted: perfect fireplace weather. Our only complaint is that the weekend went by way too fast.
The WIFI signal was great. We didn't watch TV, so we can't say anything about that. Why would anyone want to watch television in such a beautiful setting anyway? There is simply too much else to do to worry about such accommodations, but they're present. I understand that recent infrastructure projects have made significant improvements in this area, and that more are on the way this year.
There is a lot to do in the surrounding area. Hiking trails abound, so come prepared to breathe the exhilarating alpine-scented air as you navigate rocky steps under canopies of old-growth forest and brush up against boulders that rolled into their current positions several millennia ago. Bring a walking stick! You'll need it sometimes to keep your balance on the trails, but this place is paradise.
There are plenty of places to pick up groceries close enough at hand that you can drive in and stock up. We recommend Ingles, but there is also a Food Lion that provides more than adequate supplies. There are restaurants very close to the cabin and dotted throughout the Pisgah National Forest. That is part of the delight of discovery. Oh, and if you like golf, you're in for a real treat at Little Alpine Village.
The best part of all is waking up and watching the sun rise over the mountains. Wow! What a beautiful sight, and what a wonderful experience for a couple that wants nothing more than a few days in a remote setting to enjoy nature and one another. Great memories! Fantastic times!
The property was as nice as advertised, in fact, better because we did not realize we could sit on the deck, listening to the birds and squirrels, in the evening and watch the sunset shadow move up the side of Mt. Mitchell (which is only about 3 miles away as the crow flies). Also, access to the Blue Ridge Parkway is only 3 or 4 miles away. Robin 2 is well stocked with stuff you need. When we first arrived there was a problem with the internet password but Mike helped get that sorted out quickly. The place is ideal for a retired couple (like us) or for a younger couple too. We stayed 7 nights and enjoyed the autumn colors.
Mt. Mitchell, which is the highest peak East of the Mississippi, is 30 minutes away.
