Beautiful setting but interior lacking.
When I first arrived at the cabin, I was delighted. The surroundings were beautiful and the size was perfect for my needs. The property was also nicely furnished. Unfortunately, as soon as I settled in a concern emerged. There was a very strong odor of mold/mildew. I could not breathe well in the enclosed space. I opened all the windows, but I still developed an allergic reaction to the interior of the cabin. I became quite congested and had difficulty breathing. At the end of day two, there was so much humidity in the cabin that the towels and sheets were moist - perhaps due to inclement weather we were experiencing in the area. (I ended up having to take them to my daughter's house to launder and dry.) I could not sleep in the bedroom because the smell of the mold/mildew was stronger there, forcing me to sleep on the couch. I later discovered mold/mildew in the cabin. I also noticed that previous vacuuming had not been efficiently employed, which may have contributed to the odor. When I attempted to run the heat, the smell was overwhelming and I could not use it without also keeping the windows opened. I had rented the cabin for ten days; unfortunately, I could not stay there the entire time due to the circumstances and ended up staying with my daughter and son-in-law. I attempted to contact the owner by text, but was unable to reach him. I am sorry to write this review as the owner had been flexible with my reservation when I had to delay my arrival and departure by one day. But I would caution anyone with breathing or allergy issues about renting this property without first getting assurances from the owner that the furniture, carpet, walls and interior had been completely fumigated and cleaned. This was a most unpleasant and expensive experience for me.
I’m sorry this renter had this experience. I had no idea until I read her review. If she would have contacted me when she first noticed a problem I could have moved her to another unit. Before she arrived we communicated very well with emails through VRBO. I even accommodated her on moving back the dates by a day because she had a meeting and could not arrive when planned. After she arrived I never heard from her again.
There have been many rental properties in this area that have had these issues with high humidity and dampness this year due to all of the rain/storms that went through the North Carolina area. Actually quite unusual. We have already taken care of the issue that she was concerned about. We have had many reviews that have been very positive and my wife and I are very responsive to our guests needs. If they let us know about issues we handle them immediately. We had a renter that checked out two days before this renter came in and they had no complaints. Even the cleaning crew said everything seemed normal.
Cute, cozy and clean.
This was perfect for a couple quiet getaway.
Nice cabin, very quiet place with gorgeous view all around.
Best place in this Universe for those who wants to get out of industrial world, hike, meditate and think about life spending time with family and friends. Nice and clean. Would love to be back )
Very cute little place. Wonderful for relaxing!
Lovely spot with the swimming pool right in front, before the mountain views. The back porch view was dense forest (I am sure it will be different in the fall and winter).
If you care to look at the mountains only, the cabins on the opposite street are better. But the forest side is on a slightly higher rung, and offers instant access to the swimming pool, shuffle-board 'court', and the club house.
Close access to Blue Ridge Parkway and many attractions.
Overall had a beautiful stay.
ONLY ONE TINY LITTLE ISSUE: ANTS - nothing one pest control treatment will not fix!
Lack of a dishwasher can be an issue for a longer stay!
Thanks Mike and Rima - You have a Gem!
Perfect spot for a quick getaway!
My husband and I stayed here for a three-day hiking trip and loved it. This is a great little cabin with just enough space for two (maybe three) people. The kitchen was well equipped - we cooked breakfast every morning, packed lunches for our hikes and grilled stuff for dinner at the cabin two of the three nights. Located close enough to good hiking spots, not too far from grocery stores, restaurants and gas stations, yet removed enough from the hustle and bustle of local towns to make it feel remote. We lucked out and happened to hit the week when the Blue Ridge Mountains were at peak color for the autumn season, so the mountain view from the back deck was gorgeous. We are already planning a return trip for next year!
A wonderful stay!
A great experience all around. We went predominantly to wind down and enjoy some of the beautiful hikes and scenery. Brenda, who runs the office could not have been more friendly and helpful and Mike was very prompt and informative in his responses to me. Initially I had concerns about the lack of A/C, but even with temps in the high 80`s in mid July the cabin was comfortable with the aid of fans. The pool was especially great to come back to after a long hike. I would thoroughly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet relaxing vacation.
Mt. Mitchell, which is the highest peak East of the Mississippi, is 30 minutes away.
