Farmfield Plantation is a 54 acre equestrian estate built on a former cottonfield and surrounded by magnificent horse farms and pine woods, only 10 minutes from historic downtown Aiken. The main facility is a steel-framed barn in the traditional style, housing 24 horses on the barn level and a luxury, furnished 3 bedroom apartment on the second level. Both the barn and the barn apartment are fully equipped for short and long term stays by horse and rider. We can accommodate both singles and groups of up to 6 with their horses and our minimum stay is 2 nights. Our rate is $150 per night and $20 per night per horse. Horses may be kept in the stalls or turned out in one of our 6 board-fenced, watered paddocks. There is unlimited use of the Grand Prix/Polo field and we can arrange riding or polo lessons for new riders. For the experienced rider, we can arrange a hack in the 2,000 acre Hitchcock Woods or a day cap with one of the area's four foxhunts. This beautiful and very private farm is a perfect getaway for horse and rider looking to escape the northern winter or get a feel for southern country living before making a decision to relocate. The owner is also a licensed realtor and developer of small horse farms for relocating baby boomers and can answer all your questions in this regard. (Please note that modified terms apply to the peak winter season of January through March when the minimum stay is 3 months with a minimum rental of 12 stalls)

About Owner Alex Tyrteos
The owner is a former international investment banker turned real estate developer in Greenwich Ct. The family moved to Aiken and converted a former cotton field into Farmfield Plantation. In addition to operating a rental business, the owner is a licensed realtor and a developer of small farms in the Aiken area.
Owner Alex Tyrteos purchased this Estate in 2007
Why Owner Alex Tyrteos chose Aiken County
Farmfield Plantation, while only a 10 minute drive from historic downtown Aiken, is in a scenic part of Aiken's Route 302 horse corridor, surrounded by magnificent polo and hunter-jumper properties. Surrounded by centennial pine trees and hardwoods, it offers great tranquillity for horse and rider. Located within minutes of the property are four major 3 Day Eventer venues (Jumping Branch, Sporting Days, Paradise and Full Gallop) and two major polo clubs (Aiken and New Bridge). The visitor is guaranteed to see high-level competition in both the eventing and polo disciplines during most of the year. There are also 5 local fox hunts in a variety of country that offer day caps and rental mounts for visitors.
What makes this Estate unique
The Tyrteos family wanted to make Farmfield Plantation a haven of tranquillity and relaxation for the visitor seeking a break from the hustle and bustle and cold winters of the North. The first class commercial barn and its amenities, including the luxury 3 bedroom apartment offer the visitor a functional base for any horse activity in this center of equestrian sports. The owner's timber frame farm house gives the property a great country feel, completing the nostalgic feel of an earlier, less complicated time.

Peaceful, restful location
My husband, our beloved springer spaniel and I enjoyed the long Thanksgiving weekend in this serene setting. it was close enough to some family and friends for easy visiting. Owner was very helpful and cordial. We will look forward to returning in the future.

A wonderful get away in the middle of Horse Country. We stayed for our Aiken Soccer Tournament. It was great for 5 Adults and 3 teenage girls. It was very comfortable and the owners were very accommodating. The apartment was very clean and modern. Buddy, the dog, was very happy he could come along too. There was plenty of room for all to be comfortable and made a great place to commune and talk after a long HOT day on the soccer field. We will be back next year! Thank's Alex for a great stay and being so flexible.

Great getaway and stay for a great price. We throughly enjoyed our stay. Great interior, plenty of space, and provided all amenities. We brought our own internet connection and only 5-10 mins from anything you would need such as grocery, food, mall, etc.
Aiken is midway between the Charleston shore and the southern tip of the Appalachians, both of which can be reached with a 2 hour drive. Charleston and Savannah are well preserved historic towns that tell the story of the Old South and offer beautiful sandy beaches that can be enjoyed from May to September. The mountains provide the opportunity to drive the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, rent a log cabin with a view and ski the Wolf Ridge Resort from December to March.
