We have stayed at Bears Retreat many times and enjoy coming back every time. The house is very nice and clean. The view from the front windows and deck is spectacular.
The cabin was perfect for our large family. lt was even more beautiful than the pictures show! Everyone from the age of 2 years old to 69 years old loved their time here. Hoping to return next year. Thanks!
Nestled in the middle of the mountain, this house was very accommodating! Kids age ranges 18 mos. to 16 yrs. old and there was something for everyone!! The kitchen has EVERYTHING you can ask for! We go to Raystown every year and have at least 14 with us and everyone was able to sleep comfortably. We rented a pontoon boat for with slide at 7 Points Marina - which was alarmingly expensive we left with a bill of $1,000. Didn't realize the gas and oil would be so much money!! This has NO reflection on the owners of this place though!!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Bears Retreat. We had a wonderful time reconnecting! The young grandchildren loved playing together with their cousins who they don't get to see very often. We enjoyed the hot tub too! Excellent therapy for aching muscles!
Overall, the place was clean. However, the carpets were in need of shampooing as there were a number of large soiled areas on the carpets when we arrived. I also wish there would have been written directions for operating the TV/DVD/ game box (lower level). We could have called but hated to bother anyone. Besides we had enough of other activities.
The location was close to activities at the Raystown Lake Resort which made it very convenient for us!
Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us!
It fit all of our family needs for sleeping and the kitchen was wonderfully equipped. Our only concern was the instability of the deck railing to the right of the hot tub. We will definitely return to your home if we come to Lake Raystown. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.
Our extended family group had great time at Bear's Retreat. We took kayaks to Shy Beaver, hit the water park and hiked in Trough Creek Park. The road up to the house is quite steep but we all made it. It was great having Internet access. The kitchen is well equipped and we made good use of it. The hot tub was a huge after-dark hit. The house is very clean and well maintained. All three generations of our family loved it.
The only issue we had was the parking ticket we received down at the Shy Beaver boat ramp. We parked in the grass along with 25 other vehicles and we all received a ticket. So if you bring your boat get there early because the parking fills up fast. We learned that that boat ramp is the busses on the lake.
The home and location was great.
