About Rick Knight & Amy Cooper

Rick is dedicated to serving his Real Estate clients' needs while enjoying an active life biking, running, swimming and hiking in the beauty of Mt. Shasta. Amy is founding Director of the Shasta Yoga Institute and had been a major inspiration and provider of Yoga studies for the community, which involves a teacher training, retreats, specialty workshops and daily classes with a variety of teachers.

"We moved to Mount Shasta from the Bay Area in 2003 but bought this cabin in 1996 due to the fact that we loved coming up to visit for winter skiing and summer swimming... and had the vision that we wanted more..."

Rick and Amy spend their free time enjoying trail running, hiking, swimming, back country skiing, road and mountain biking the north country.

Rick Knight & Amy Cooper purchased this house in 1996

Why Rick Knight & Amy Cooper chose Shasta Cascade

It is secluded but close to all of the great things Mt Shasta has to offer. The large, old trees offer shade and privacy and a great feeling of the larger forest surrounds the area. It is well built and easy to heat but has a spacious loft feeling .

What makes this house unique

This place is beautiful and serene... It is in a natural setting, close to town but in the woods!

It's location offers great walking right out the door on a safe dead-end road with great neighbors, which is kid and dog friendly. Please feel free to ask Amy or Rick about the area as we have 30 plus years of visiting, vacationing, living and working and adventuring in the community.

Please feel free to call on us to help you plan your trip.

A lovely house, in a beautiful secluded neighborhood.

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for my wife, 7 year old daughter and I. Access was very easy to get to, but sill had a placement that left us feeling very secluded in the snowy woods. The house itself was very nice and clean and had nice futons that our Daughter loved sleeping on. The DVD player didn't work with the fancy large screen TV, but after futzing with it we let it go and just watched Netflix thru the Roku ... However don't tease us with that big basket of DVDs you left there!!! All in all an excellent retreat, we will stay here again.

We enjoyed the cottage and all the extra fine kitchen wear.

  • 4 of 5

Would rather not see the TV as the center piece of the living room. Very clean and comfortable. Having a wood burning stove would give a bit more of a cabin feel but the heaters worked well and we were nice and warm on some very cold nights.

Excellent place to stay

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for good getaway place, then this is it. The kitchen if fully stocked with cooking utensils that we were able to good meals every day. The house is very well cleaned, maintained, and decorated. There were board games for us to have game night instead of watching television. The location gives you that feeling of being in the woods.

The owners provided numerous pamphlets of nearby attractions for us to reference and which came in handy. The owners are very friendly and recommended their favorite restaurants.

My daughter has already recommended this house to her friends and I would do the same.

No complaints.

  • 5 of 5

Clean, comfy, convenient. Great central location to Mt. Shasta, McCloud, Dunsmuir, lakes, forests, everything. Nice to be able to cook and feel like you're at home. Very quiet area, felt like we were staying miles away from everything. The area is very nice. We were also able to take a taxi into town one night which we recommend if you want to have some drinks. Will recommend to friends that would travel through here.

Mt Shasta Magic

  • 5 of 5

A welcome and rejuvenating home. We saw deer walk by one morning. Close enough town, yet far enough away to be surrounded by gorgeous pine trees.

Had a fantastic couple of days to recharge and enjoy.

Adequate with reservations

  • 3 of 5

The overall impression was good. The unit had an extensive kitchen equipment, and was clean, had washer and dryer ,which was a big plus. The bedroom and bathroom was also clean. The location to Mt Shasta town and all recreational activities were great.Rick has to spend a little time and money on this unit. The kitchen's hot water faucet handle was missing, just the stem is there, and it has been like this for a long time. In the bathroom the hot and cold water faucets operate in different directions and the cold water faucet comes off in your hand.Rick in answering one of the previous reviews said that he had just installed an air conditioning unit. This unit is located in a cupboard above the washer and dryer and is not operational.Fortunately we stayed here at the end of September and we didn't need it.However during the summer month it becomes a necessity .

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review on our rental property. We plan to take care of those small faucet issues now that the schedule has lightened up after a back-to-back busy summer! Due to the change of season and weather we removed the air-conditioning unit mid September. We are replacing two of the upstairs windows so they open and allow for more airflow through the bedroom. The air conditioning unit is available to be installed at anytime, we just need to be contacted.
