About Rick Knight & Amy Cooper

Rick is dedicated to serving his Real Estate clients' needs while enjoying an active life biking, running, swimming and hiking in the beauty of Mt. Shasta. Amy is founding Director of the Shasta Yoga Institute and had been a major inspiration and provider of Yoga studies for the community, which involves a teacher training, retreats, specialty workshops and daily classes with a variety of teachers.

"We moved to Mount Shasta from the Bay Area in 2003 but bought this cabin in 1996 due to the fact that we loved coming up to visit for winter skiing and summer swimming... and had the vision that we wanted more..."

Rick and Amy spend their free time enjoying trail running, hiking, swimming, back country skiing, road and mountain biking the north country.

Rick Knight & Amy Cooper purchased this house in 1996

Why Rick Knight & Amy Cooper chose Mount Shasta

It is secluded but close to all of the great things Mt Shasta has to offer. The large, old trees offer shade and privacy and a great feeling of the larger forest surrounds the area. It is well built and easy to heat but has a spacious loft feeling .

What makes this house unique

This place is beautiful and serene... It is in a natural setting, close to town but in the woods!

It's location offers great walking right out the door on a safe dead-end road with great neighbors, which is kid and dog friendly. Please feel free to ask Amy or Rick about the area as we have 30 plus years of visiting, vacationing, living and working and adventuring in the community.

Please feel free to call on us to help you plan your trip.

Great Place in Mt. Shasta Summer or Winter

  • 5 of 5

Clean, spacious for a couple. Has floor mattress for additional guests. Private, lovely setting in pines. Couple of miles to beautiful Lake Siskiyou for summer fun ( I swam there in late August, nice temperature). Great mtn. biking and hikes including hikes on PCT. In winter, both downhill and XC skiing within 20 minutes or so at a small, affordable family friendly ski area. We have stayed here twice in the winter, once in summer. Adequate heating and cooling. Highly recommend. We will be back this winter - think snow!

Great Hosts and Private Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Rick and Amy were very responsive. They even offered to extend my stay when I thought I was snowbound...even offered to send someone to shovel me out! The place was perfect for me and the pups. Lots of privacy, but close enough to town and great hiking!

Wonderful Mountain Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time back and not much had changed, but everthing was still in wonderful condition. There are neighbors around, but it's very well situated so it is very private. Room for our daughter downstairs on the futons and my wife and I up in the loft room on the comfy King bed. Seems to be a small ant problem in the bathroom after taking a shower, but nothing to bad or caused us to worry about. The only improvement I could ask for is maybe a few more forks in the supply of silverware! otherwise, this once again was a wonderful experience.

Lovely cottage on Mt. Shasta outskirts

  • 5 of 5

This is a bright, open, generously windowed and private cottage, very clean, tucked into pine forest just outside Mt. Shasta, with the charming feel of a treehouse. It offers a well-stocked kitchen that easily allows cooking dinner feasts, which we did daily, with dining space that comfortably accommodates a family. The upstairs bedroom offers banks of windows on two sides, looking out into the trees. And the first floor allowed our family, from 3 years to 70+, to enjoy socializing and private time. This is an excellent choice for families with children.

Clean, cute, and functional

Great size for a family of 3. Easy kitchen to work in. The home had every supply we needed, and was just minutes away from downtown. We would definitely stay again.

Quiet base for family excursions

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at this quiet loft/cabin. It was perfect for a family of four and our dog. It was perfect for staging our excursions to Mt. Shasta Ski Park, Bunny Flat, and Shasta Nordic Park. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The décor was very tranquil. Our hosts were very attentive to our needs before we got there. The place was clean and cozy. My wife and I loved the reading chair while the kids loved the HD TV and futons. We plan on staying here again and recommend it to others.
