'Simply Perfect' Glorious Location and View, Two-Bedroom Ocean/Beach Front Condo

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,140 sq. ft.
Property type condo

About the property

Two Bedroom Oceanfront Condo Sleeps 5

'Simply Perfect' is how our first guests described their experience at La Casa de Rosario. We are committed to ensuring it remains so for all our guests. Centrally located on Madera beach, Rosario was fully renovated and updated, newly furnished and freshly decorated in 2014. The condo has a ground level entrance and an elevated, panoramic view of the beach, ocean and pool (one flight down from the unit). It has two bedrooms - king- and queen sized beds, respectively - each with an ocean view, and a spacious living / dining area that is entirely open to the ocean; 1100 square feet overall. In addition to its window opening on the bay, the second bedroom has double french doors that can be opened to the front part of the living area and the view of the bay beyond, giving the room added airiness (for the bedroom hammock) or expanding the living area. Originally designed in the classic Mexican style, the condo is entirely refreshed. The sea breeze and silent ceiling fans constantly freshen the living space which offers a hammock and lounge chairs, a comfortable banquette and wonderful day bed facing the water. Each bedroom is fully contained, private and comfortable with an air conditioner that is rarely needed, but always available.

The condominium has a 3 piece bathroom (with shower) full kitchen with microwave, four burner gas cook-top, convection / toaster oven plus an electric barbecue – fully equipped with small appliances and utensils for those who like to cook. It has a flat screen TV, wireless high-speed internet and a private telephone line. All local landline calls are included in the rental which also includes on-site security, maid service two days per week plus all bed linens, bath towels, utensils, dishware, cookware, cutlery and purified water.

Location and accessibility define the uniqueness of this property. A 15 minute walk to the south is La Ropa beach, and a 10 minute walk north along the seawall brings you to the town site with daily fish and produce markets, restaurant boardwalk, shops, cafes and bars. A full groceries / clothing / liquor and hardware store is a 25 minute walk or short cab ride away. The property is surrounded by a host of dining spots ranging from traditional Mexican to international cuisine. Half a block east is an open Mexican grill with a wonderful cooking school. A few steps south is a small grocery store, across the road from the Aura Del Mar hotel – once a lavish hacienda – with a lovely patio bar overlooking the bay and ocean beyond. To the left of the property, a gentle flight of stairs brings you to the beach where a drink or snack at La Palapa café will afford you shady lounge chairs for your day at the beach, and the Bistro Del Mar will offer you fine dining and excellent service in its charming open-air setting at the water’s edge. Water tours, massages, fishing trips and water craft / sports rentals are readily and comfortably available on the beach. If you would like more information or detail on the condo and Zihuajanero in general, we have a full, illustrated guest guide we're happy to send you.

About Chris Kelly

We, Chris and Deb, live in Vancouver, B.C. where we’ve raised two children – now young adults – and several cats and dogs while working for over 30 years as educators / administrators / university instructors. Since retiring six years ago, wonderful new doors have been opened for us, not the least of which has been our discovery of Mexico and Zihuatanejo.

Chris Kelly purchased this condo in 2014

Why Chris Kelly chose Zihuatanejo

It was a bleak, wet January in 2013 when we decided to run away to somewhere warm and sunny. We’d never been to Mexico, though had wanted to, and close friends / travelling partners had just returned from Zihua with the most alluring pictures and stories, so, we chose this as our run-away destination. Booking 3 weeks late in the season meant we had to book 3 week-long stays, each of which offered its own perspective on the bay and its neighbourhoods; the south slope of La Ropa beach, the middle of Madera beach, then the north end of La Ropa. It was during our time in Bahia Suites on Madera beach that we became truly smitten with this unique place, its owners and tenants, its welcoming Mexican neighbourhood and its beautiful location. Though never intending to own property outside of Canada, after some months of research and conversations with other owners of Mexican properties, we returned to Bahia Suites and lived for the month of November in the condo we subsequently purchased in January 2014.

What makes this condo unique

A spectacular location with easy access to everything of interest or need, comfort, charm, a welcoming, easy-going community, relaxed and friendly fellow travellers, and wonderful food.

Amazing Zihuatanejo Bay views, close to all.

Casa del Rosario in the Bahia Suites is a great spot to totally relax. Because, unless you care to fish or snorkel or shop, watching the boats in the bay and folks frolicking on the beach is how you will enjoy spending your time. The nicely decorated, reasonably priced, clean, fully equipped 2 br 1ba unit is perfect for one or two couples. Ceiling fans and sea breezes made our mid May trip enjoyable even though it was warm (85+ f) and humid. We loved the family run "El Arrayan" Restaurant which is right around the corner. Very creative menu in a fun atmosphere. The Super market has everything you could possibly need. Andres (our unit taxi driver) and Carmen (the concierge) were delightfully helpful. We fished two days (inshore) with Adolfo and his son on "Dos Hermanos".

We caught a number of fun-to-catch but not-to-eat fish, but the boat ride was enjoyable and we knew this was not the best time of year for game fishing (try June thru September). An early morning snorkel trip to Manzanillo beach was great with lots of tropical fish in clear water.Weekends will find lots of activity along the Malecon (beachfront walkway) but the week days are lovely and quiet. Unlike many Mexican tourist destinations, there was no time share pressure and vendors cheerfully walked away when you said "no gracias" we would definitely return to this charming village on the beach.

Zihuatenajo Paradise

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place to stay. The incredible calm you feel looking at the view of the ocean from basically anywhere in this well equipped and very comfortable condo. A short walk to La Ropa beach for an early morning sunrise greeting. An equally not too long a hike to town makes this location great. Many restaurants close by and a well stocked local store within two minutes was also appreciated. A hammock on hand to lollygag about in was a well used option also. Great handbook with many hints and information right there for us was also appreciated. We will be going back for sure!

Home Sweet Home in Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! My husband and I stayed here with our two boys (ages 6 & 11) for 3 weeks and could not have been happier. The condo is beautiful, clean and perfectly appointed. The kitchen is fully stocked...there wasn't a thing we were missing (and we did our fair share of cooking). The bedrooms are large and air conditioned. The bathroom is small, but completely remodeled and functional. And the VIEW...not enough words to describe the beauty. The condo has a perfect location at Playa Madera- beach access is steps away and the town center is a short walk or even shorter taxi ride. Beach towels, extra sunscreen, boogie boards and a beach umbrella are icing on the condo-cake!

The condo comes with it's very own fairy-godmother: Carmen the property manager! She is so wonderfully knowledgable about not only the condo, but just about anything you may need or want while vacationing in Zihuatanejo. And we used Andres (as recommended by the owner) as our exclusive tour guide and taxi driver. He is kind, honest and speaks english well. And best of all, he's a very safe driver! We went on his tour of historical Zihuatanejo, the archaeological zone, a tile factory where the boys got to make their own clay tiles, and ended at the beach in Barra de Potosi. It was one of our favorite days and very reasonably priced. We highly recommend taking a tour with Andres!

Chris Kelly (the owner) was very accommodating and easy to work with. He responded quickly via email and was very fair with his extended stay rates. He even had a safety fence installed on the railing of the condo to ensure the well-being of our 6 year old. The condo/travelers guidebook he has produced and shares with vacationers is priceless and full of valuable information. In it you will find restaurant reviews and locations, helpful hints about shopping, the best way to get from the airport to the condo, and so much more! I wish more VRBO owners would include a detailed and specialized travel guide!

The condo really provided a wonderful home-base for our extended stay. Whether short or long, if you are planning a stay in Zihuatanejo, rent this condo! You will not be disappointed! Definitely on our top 3 for favorite vacation rentals.

Yes--"simply perfect"!

We don't want to repeat all of the glowing comments in prior reviews, so please look at those, too! Let us just emphasize that our own photos look exactly like those in the HomeAway site. We could have happily sat on the balcony and soaked in the salt air and spectacular vistas with a marguerita or Corona days on end. Thankfully, we ventured out to the three closest beaches (Madera, La Ropa, and Las Gatas) on different days and took advantage of the deep knowledge of the area imparted by Andres Rios, the tour guide recommended by the owners. Andres had us all day exploring neighborhoods, beaches, tile makers, and archeological sites. The 20-plus page guide provided by the owners was invaluable and much more extensive than any I have seen in many previous HomeAway stays. Do pay attention to the restaurant recommendations (and DO NOT miss Lety's, tucked away at the end of the municipal strip). Just know that, during the summer (low) season a few of these are not always open. Summer season had its advantages, too--we never spoke to another norte americano until our last day. A true getaway. Stay here!

Perfect...exactly what we needed

  • 5 of 5

The view is so beautiful we had to tear ourselves away to leave every time! Closer to town than all the hotels on la madera. Pool was clean and with its own stunning view. Carmen, the property manager was sweet and helpful. Zihua is a slow paced town, and this apartment complements that pace perfectly. Thanks!
