Two Bedroom Oceanfront Condo Sleeps 5
'Simply Perfect' is how our first guests described their experience at La Casa de Rosario. We are committed to ensuring it remains so for all our guests. Centrally located on Madera beach, Rosario was fully renovated and updated, newly furnished and freshly decorated in 2014. The condo has a secure ground level entrance and an elevated, panoramic view of the beach, ocean and pool (one flight down from the unit). It has two bedrooms - king- and queen sized beds, respectively - each with an ocean view, and a spacious living / dining area that is entirely open to the ocean; 1100 square feet overall. In addition to its window opening on the bay, the second bedroom has double french doors that can be opened to the front part of the living area and the view of the bay beyond, giving the room added airiness (for the bedroom hammock) or expanding the living area. Originally designed in the classic Mexican style, the condo is entirely refreshed. The sea breeze and silent ceiling fans constantly freshen the living space which offers a hammock and lounge chairs, a comfortable banquette and wonderful day bed facing the water. Each bedroom is fully contained, private and comfortable with an air conditioner that is rarely needed, but always available.
The condominium has a 3 piece bathroom (with shower) full kitchen with microwave, four burner gas cook-top, convection / toaster oven plus an electric barbecue – fully equipped with small appliances and utensils for those who like to cook. It has a flat screen TV, wireless high-speed internet and a private telephone line. All local landline calls are included in the rental which also includes on-site security, maid service two days per week plus all bed linens, bath towels, utensils, dishware, cookware, cutlery and purified water.
Location and accessibility define the uniqueness of this property. A 15 minute walk to the south is La Ropa beach, and a 10 minute walk north along the seawall brings you to the town site with daily fish and produce markets, restaurant boardwalk, shops, cafes and bars. A full groceries / clothing / liquor and hardware store is a 25 minute walk or short cab ride away. The property is surrounded by a host of dining spots ranging from traditional Mexican to international cuisine. Half a block east is an open Mexican grill with a wonderful cooking school. A few steps south is a small grocery store, across the road from the Aura Del Mar hotel – once a lavish hacienda – with a lovely patio bar overlooking the bay and ocean beyond. To the left of the property, a gentle flight of stairs brings you to the beach where a drink or snack at La Palapa café will afford you shady lounge chairs for your day at the beach, and the Bistro Del Mar will offer you fine dining and excellent service in its charming open-air setting at the water’s edge. Water tours, massages, fishing trips and water craft / sports rentals are readily and comfortably available on the beach. If you would like more information or detail on the condo and Zihuajanero in general, we have a full, illustrated guest guide we're happy to send you.

About Chris Kelly
We, Chris and Deb, live in Vancouver, B.C. where we’ve raised two children – now young adults – and several cats and dogs while working for over 30 years as educators / administrators / university instructors. Since retiring six years ago, wonderful new doors have been opened for us, not the least of which has been our discovery of Mexico and Zihuatanejo.
Chris Kelly purchased this Condo in 2014
Why Chris Kelly chose Playa Madera
It was a bleak, wet January in 2013 when we decided to run away to somewhere warm and sunny. We’d never been to Mexico, though had wanted to, and close friends / travelling partners had just returned from Zihua with the most alluring pictures and stories, so, we chose this as our run-away destination. Booking 3 weeks late in the season meant we had to book 3 week-long stays, each of which offered its own perspective on the bay and its neighbourhoods; the south slope of La Ropa beach, the middle of Madera beach, then the north end of La Ropa. It was during our time in Bahia Suites on Madera beach that we became truly smitten with this unique place, its owners and tenants, its welcoming Mexican neighbourhood and its beautiful location. Though never intending to own property outside of Canada, after some months of research and conversations with other owners of Mexican properties, we returned to Bahia Suites and lived for the month of November in the condo we subsequently purchased in January 2014.

Beautiful days, tropical nights. 🌴Accommodations were more than expected .......Would definitely return! Carmen and her staff were fabulous. “Bent over backwards”...
Wonderful view with everything needed for a terrific vacation
We really enjoyed our stay in Casa de Rosario. The owners
provided the most complete and useful information package
that we have ever encountered. The kitchen was functional
and the beds were comfortable with nice soft pillows. The ever
changing view of sea and cruising boats was entertaining.
We enjoyed swimming in the sea and the pool. The service
in Bahia Suites was friendly and accommodating. If in Zihua
again we would definately try to stay here as the location is
close to a beach but also walking distance to town.
Nowhere better than the balcony
We just returned from two weeks in La Casa de Rosario, the suite name for Chris Kelly's unit in Bahia Suites. The location is stunning as the living area is open to Zihuatanejo Bay and you can hear the surf all day long. Carmen, the building manager, met us when we arrived and showed us the unit. She gave us a tour of other units in the building including the two penthouses. She also gave us tips on places to go like Las Gatos where we took a water taxi from the centro pier. The building overlooks the beach although you have to walk down 92 easily negotiated steps to get to it. Once on the beach, the servers from the restaurant of your choice bring an umbrella and lounge chairs where you can stay all day or for just a few hours. The unit itself is spacious and has two bedrooms facing the bay. Chris left a comprehensive guide for us listing restaurants, maps and things to do. The pool is one level down from the unit and every morning it was practically our own private pool. The guests who stay in the building are either owners or regulars and we met many pleasant people. There are many small restaurants just down the steep hill in front of the building. We usually ate on the sidewalk tables or just in front of the restaurant. The centro is a ten minute walk over a footbridge where we found markets, fishermen, restaurants and retail shops. We enjoyed returning to the casa after our walks to cool off. The unit has five ceiling fans and two air conditioners and the bedroom cools down nicely after a few minutes. We have already booked with Chris for next year and are excited to return after our experience at this fabulous place!
Breathtaking views and a quaint condo makes for the perfect getaway!
The first thing that we were greeted with as we walked through the front door was the warm rush of ocean air through the entirely open-air kitchen and living area of this condo. At first I was caught off guard, but very quickly fell in love with the openness this provided! The rooms close off and have air conditioning (which worked perfectly) if you need to cool off a little. But being able to come out in the morning to the crashing waves and watch the sunrise was so magnificent! This condo is extremely well stocked and maintained. The pool area, while small compared to some, was ample, even over the extremely busy holiday season. Town is only a 10-15 min walk, giving you easy access to all the fabulous restaurants Zihua has to offer. And the beach is right at the bottom of the stairs outside the condo with access to beachfront restaurants, massages, boogie boards, paddle boarding etc. We usually stay in Ixtapa but decided to try something different. This condo made us fall in love with Zihua and we may never stay in Ixtapa again.........
This property was perfect for us. We loved the open air in the living space and the air conditioning in the bedroom at night was required at this time of year. 92 stair steps to the beach where the many beach restaurants served delicious and inexpensive meals. 1 hour good massages for 200 pesos were right there! I have stayed at many fancy condos and hotels in Ixtapa, I prefer this authentic real and humble Mexico experience!
We have stayed in this building a few times before but never in this unit. Love, Love, Love the location!! You can walk absolutely anywhere in town in less than 20 minutes. La Casa de Rosario is street level ( a blessing after walking up the hill) and has a fantastic view. It was terribly hot while we were there in October and the air-conditioning was a godsend. Beds are extremely comfy, water pressure in the shower is strong, l beach towels are plentiful and Carmen is there to help with whatever you need. Pool and grounds are kept extremely clean. Was nice to have a local phone for restaurant or massage reservations. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with Chris and Deb and we hope to return to Zihua - and this unit again soon.
This property is perfectly located for easy access to all the features and amenities of the bay, beaches, and townsite. La Ropa beach is a 15 minute walk to the south. The townsite - with restaurant boardwalk, daily fish and produce markets and multiple shops and cafes - is a 10 minute walk north along the beach and seawall. There is a confectionery store half a block from the property and a full groceries / wine and spirits / clothing / hardware outlet is a 25 minute walk or brief cab ride away. The property is surrounded by several cafes and restaurants - ranging from traditional Mexican to international cuisine. Behind the property is a classic Mexican open-air grill which also features a wonderful cooking school. To the left is Aura Del Mar hotel - formerly a lavish hacienda - with a patio bar featuring a panoramic view of the bay. At the foot of the steps to the beach, La Palapa cafe will offer you shady lounge chairs for your day at the beach and a few steps away the Bistro Del Mar offers fine dining and excellent service. Tours, fishing trips, water craft and massages are easily and comfortably available along the beachfront.
