About the property

Sunset View Of North Lake Leelanau; lots of sleeping room.

This remodeled charming cottage has all that you need to enjoy the fantastic North Lake Leelanau with your family. All told, there is a bedroom with a twin bunk bed, a second with a queen bed, a bedroom with a double bed, and the two sleeping lofts (one with a double/twin bed bunk and a twin bunk bed, the other with a queen, a single twin, and a crib) -- that is up to 14 people and an infant/toddler! We have a large dining room with an ample table to accommodate a large family gathering and a good sized deck and front yard with a wonderful view of the lake.

The kitchen includes a refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, a new KitchenAid gas stove/convection oven, coffee maker, toaster, and blender. We have table service for 16 people included in the dishes. We have our large gas grill ready for use as well.

There are two baths, one with a shower. There is an excellent cedar outdoor shower that is very invigorating and spacious and also private. We also have a new front-loading stackable washing machine and dryer that include steam features.

The backyard is large and has room for several vehicles to park. A dock and a buoy is available for use with the rental if desired to dock your own boat or a rental (both a launch and rentals are available near by).

The village of Lake Leelanau is a short drive by boat or car from the house, and the wonders of Leelanau County are available. Have a home base to check out historic Fish Town in Leland or the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Dining and shopping options in Suttons Bay and Traverse City are small driving distances from the house. If you're into the wine scene, we have a great central location for all of the vineyards in the area.

There are several trails and natural areas to enjoy in Leelanau County with bikes or hiking.

All in all, we have a great location within the County to enjoy on its own or to jump off to other adventures. We hope to host you!

About Rob Stow

We both grew up in the Traverse City/Leelanau County area. We love it here and work here during the school year but work at an arts camp for several weeks during the summer.

Rob Stow purchased this house in 2014

Why Rob Stow chose Lake Leelanau

We bought this house because we wanted to enjoy the terrific communities of Leelanau County and live on one of the best lakes in the world. We are raising our kids here; we have traveled all over the world but chose to settle here, where our families and our favorite places are. We love that we have the opportunity to raise our family in an area with so much natural beauty and great community.

What makes this house unique

The lake property and the views that go with it made us fall in love. Our kids immediately responded to the water and the fun they can have at the house. The views are fantastic, the neighborhood is quiet and welcoming.

Great time upnorth!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house for a week to be with our out of state adult kids. The house was wonderful, clean and specious. Loved the big dining table, we were able to sit together meals. Also, the large outdoor table was great for meals while watching the sunsets. The outdoor shower was nice, especially when coming off the lake. The owners were very attentive when there was a bad storm and we lost power in the house. Would love to stay again!

One of the best vacations ever.

  • 5 of 5

My fiancee and two other couples rented this home from 7/4/15 - 7/11/15. It was the perfect place for a relaxing vacation. The home was recently renovated. The pictures on the website do not do this home justice. One of the best parts of the renovation was the outdoor shower.

Rob was a great host. When a bathroom issue arose that needed to be fixed he was at the house himself attempting to fix it. After several hours of hard work on his part he called in a plumber. The bathroom was ready to use again by 9pm that night.

The water on the lake is so clear you can see to the bottom. There are plenty of sand bars that are waist height to float in or just jump in to be refreshed. The neighbors around the house were also great. Sunsets on the water will take your breath away. Several of my party chartered a boat on Lake Michigan with the neighbors and caught dinner one night. The house is in a great location for anything you would like to do in other towns. Suttons Bay and Glen Harbor were two of my favorites. Traverse City is also close enough to eat, shop, or enjoy the Cherry Festival. If you are from a big city read the police blotter in the local newspaper, the Leelanau Enterprise. That alone will make you want to move there.

The only negative my group would give would be the quality of the mattresses. It is either we are spoiled due to sleeping at home on temper pedics or the mattresses need to be replaced. This was a very minor issue and truly the only one we had during our stay.

This was one of the best vacations I, my fiancee, or anyone in our group has ever had. It was very relaxing and we wish we could have stayed another week or forever. If you are looking for a great house with great owners in a great location rent this house. We would definitely stay here again.
