Peacefull and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My family and me enjoyed our stay very much. The property layout was perfect for an evening of fishing and cooking out. Ms Dickey was a wonderful host, she gave us useful information to prepare for our stay. I loved the decor of the home and the yard landscaping was just as nice. We will definitely be staying again in the future.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to have you and your family. The best time of the year to stay at the Arroyo is between October and December. The air is cool, the fishing is great, and nothing better than a nap in the hammock and coffee on the deck watching for the early morning Dolphin swim. Hope to see you again soon.

Relaxing time

  • 5 of 5

Had an amazing time. Honestly wish I could've stayed longer. Luckily the weather was amazing so no problems when out fishing or grilling except the mosquitos (bring lots of repellent) came out during the early morning and evening but for the most part can't complain. The home itself was nice and cozy, scenery was just as beautiful, and was lucky enough to see some dolphins swim by. All in all me and my friends had a great time and we can see ourselves coming back in the near future.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much. Please come stay again soon. This is the perfect time of year to be at the Arroyo. The air is crisp and fishing is good too. Perfect time for a cup of coffee on the deck.

It was very difficult to access.

  • 2 of 5

We've been visiting and staying in different cabins/ lodges along the Arroyo for several years now. Unlike all the other places, this place was VERY difficult to access with a F-350 long bed due to the overgrown vegitation along the drive way (mesquite- weeds-cactus) and with a 19' bay boat with a tower. We had to utilize ground guides to get get up to the house. Once at the house, the "circular" drive was was hardly accesible, again due to the over grown vegitation and low hanging branches. We hardly had a place to park with a boat because we also had to share the driveway with the neighbors. We ended up having to reverse all the way back out to the black top, which was approximately 100-150 yards of winding overgrown driveway and not very easy to do. Not to mention the scratches both my truck and my buddy's boat sustained. The only way we found it feasible to park and not block the neighbors drive was to drive in reverse from the black top, all the way back to the house and unhook the boat and trailer, parking the truck next to it. This was a lot of work, especially backing the boat up the driveway.

Once in the house we had to sweep the soiled floors as there was chips and bugs along the cabinetry overhang. There was also dead roaches in the bathroom floor, as well as in the main bedroom. I differ in saying it sleeps 7. The place barely had enough bed space for Three teenaged boys and to adults.

The back yard was the best feature this place had to offer. We didn't get to spend much time out there as we had a lot of time wasted waiting at the park ramp because we had to trailer the boat back and fourth from the dock to the rental. The "boat slip" at the dock was too narrow for the boat and the house was much further from the bay than what we anticipated. BIG negative!

Needless to say that a second stay at this place will NOT be happening. I wish the description of this place would have better described the distance from the place to the park ramps and the distance from the stores/ baitshops.

This place is in dire need of a good cleaning, insecticide, and trimming back of the brush along the driveway. My trucks paint and my buddy's boat paid the price for poor maintenance along the driveway and the stay was less than "relaxing". I Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking to bayfish out of a boat. Yes, smiley can drive from his house to the back dock of this place to pick you up, but inwouldn't recommend bringing your own to this place

Owner's Response: I am in tears over your bad experience on my property. I do work very hard myself as the owner to make sure my property is very clean, sanitized and maintained in and out. I do all the work myself , I do not allow anyone to take my place to guarantee your stay is perfect. I am so sorry your stay was not a happy one. Please know that I do work very hard to make all my quest happy.

The property was gorgeous with the gardens.

  • 4 of 5

We spent our 23rd Anniversary on the river. It was an amazing experience. Beautiful property, comfortable beds. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. We had a blast fishing off the dock at night. The only thing missing was a way to get in & out of the water.. I would recommend this property to anyone..
