About Bob & Ginger Sykes

Bob & Ginger Sykes are refugees (retirees) from 30 years in corporate life. They bought this 60 acre former rural amusement park and decided to create a farm like the one owned by Bob's great uncle in Indiana. With no previous farm experience they have learned much by way of the trial & error method. We decided to give others, particularly children, the opportunity to have the same experiences Bob had as a kid visiting his great uncle's farm.

Bob & Ginger Sykes purchased this house in 2005

Why Bob & Ginger Sykes chose North Carolina

As a former rural amusement park, horse boarding and bull riding facility there were some unique amenities in place and we could quickly share our farm journey with others.

Great house, great time, very child friendly!

  • 5 of 5

My 2 1/2 year old grandson said on the last day "why are we leaving?" I was wondering the same thing. Great people, great location, and a very fun 3 day getaway. Farmer Asher and Grandpa ( along with the rest of the gang ) will be back!

Owner's Response: We certainly enjoyed having your family stay with us. Watching Farmer Asher drive grandpa around was funny. We look forward to seeing you next October when the leaves turn.

Lovely Property and Quality Time With the Owners

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying at Turtle Mist. My husband and I are playing with the idea of purchasing a homestead and talking and Bob and Ginger gave us good insight into the life of a farmer. They spent several hours sharing their experiences and advice. We were able to watch them process chickens and milk their dairy goat. Their animal handler, Matthew, was very nice and let us see the animals up close while Bob and Ginger were at the farmer's market. The guest house was cute, clean, and stocked with the essentials. We enjoyed our stay and now are itching to have a place of our own.

Wish i could put 10 Stars!!

  • 5 of 5

The house itself is beautiful, very well maintained and very clean. The land the property is on is not too close to the farm and not too far away from it either. Bob and Ginger are amazing. They are very friendly and have thought of everything to make your stay more pleasurable and welcoming. They are also just good people. They provide you with a tour of the farm and allow you to participate in activities with the animals. This was my first experience renting a home oppose to staying in luxury hotels and this was a sincere pleasure.

Turtle Mist Farm's guest house is a perfect place for experiencing total relaxation.

For those of you who rent vacation homes you are in for a rare glimpse of paradise on earth

plus southern hospitality at its best at Turtle Mist Farm.

While visiting in September, we fished, played with the dogs, visited the farm animals and

rocked on the porch. We can hardly wait to return. Hats off to Bob and Ginger Sykes!

We toured the beautiful property. Everything needed for a delightful stay was provided, even fishing poles and tackle. Serene but not remote. Felt secure on the property. My elderly family did well and would like to come back.
