Loved the Hummingbird Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Probably the nicest place we have stayed. Clean, comfortable, quiet and pretty. So nice to have a large sofa so all had comfortable seating. The kitchen was amazingly stocked with plates, silverware, pans, coffee makers & much more. We had never stayed in a place that had everything! Made for a wonderful Thanksgiving. Looking forward to our next trip!

Perfect relaxation

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the Hummingbird. We will definitely be back for more. The house is just as comfortable as being at home. The kitchen and bathrooms are clean and well equipped. This is the most quiet cabin we have enjoyed in our 20+ years of staying in Maggie Valley. No loud neighbors, no barking dogs or rowdy children. Just pleasant birds and an occasional squirrel or chipmunk to greet you in the morning. This cabin is affordably priced and worth every cent. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

it was everything described and more! the view was excellent especially the hummingbirds! It really lives up to the name because we saw hummingbirds on the porch the whole time we were there. Maggie Valley had everything to offer each day and we enjoyed the " Wheels Through Time" museum. The house was clean, inviting and comfortable. We loved it! Would go back again.

Our family loved our time at the Hummingbird Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to Maggie Valley and our family includes a 9 year old boy and a Lab puppy. Our older sons and their wives joined us for a few days as well. There was plenty of room for everybody and the cabin was extremely clean and well-maintained. The cabin was well-equipped, and it seems that they thought of everything a family might need. We grilled a few nights and found that they had everything we needed, including old newspaper to start the charcoal. We never ate out once because the kitchen was perfect for making family meals. The cabin had central air, which we used for a few hours during the middle of the day, but we mostly left the windows open to enjoy the mountain breezes. Another great feature of the cabin is that it is located near a running stream. Even though you don't have access to the stream, it is very relaxing to hear it in the background. The cabin is located within the Maggie Valley country club, however, you definitely have enough privacy as the cabins are not side by side, and each one is nestled in the woods. The location is only 5 minutes, or less, from town. There are also two small parks along Jonathan Creek located at the entrances to the country club which were great fun for our boy and our lab. The only thing pet owners should know is that there is not really a fenced yard for your pet. As with many Maggie Valley cabins, this one is perched on the side of a mountain. Our dog hung out on the large deck and we tied her out to the fence where she had a little strip of grassy area. It wasn't too much of a problem for us, as we took her down to the parks, and out on hikes daily. The highlights of our outings included the Soco Falls and the Water Rock Knob visitor's center on the Blue ridge Parkway, as both are less than 20 minutes from the cabin. The scenery in the area is breathtaking! It was such a treat for us to escape from the heat of the deep south and experience the cool refreshing mountain climate. My older kids drove into Asheville for shopping and lunch (only 30 minutes away). My husband and son also did white water rafting in Bryson City, about an hour away. On our last day, we discovered Waynesville, just 10 minutes east. It has a cute little historic downtown with pubs and unusual shops. If you go there, be sure and visit the Mast General Store. We can't wait to visit the area again! The Hummingbird Retreat really brought a sense of peace to our family and we highly recommend it to everybody.
