About Cheryl and David Patten
We are natives of Massachusetts and New York - sports team allegiance not withstanding- and lived for nearly 30 years in the D.C. metro region. We chose to move to Marblehead to enjoy all that this lovely town has to offer. It is our pleasure to welcome guests visiting the area.
Cheryl and David Patten purchased this Apartment in 2013
Why Cheryl and David Patten chose Marblehead
Our house was originally constructed in 1763 to serve as the home and shop for a well know cabinet maker in his day. Later, in 1795, the home was purchased by a sea captain who provided for his family during the heyday of Marblehead's cod fishing industry. We purchased the home with the intent to maintain this piece of American history and to share it with visitors to the area. We embarked on a series of renovations, starting with the apartment, and continue to make improvements to the home so that it continues to shine for another 250+ years.
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment is a few short steps up from the street and is a fully private unit. We reside in rest of the house above and are on hand to answer any questions. It has been completely updated and features all the modern amenities to make your stay comfortable while retaining the distinctive charm of its colonial roots. From our location, you can walk everywhere in Marblehead and we are a short drive to Salem, Rockport and Glouster. Boston is accessible via car, commuter train, seasonal ferry (Salem) or Metro (Revere).

Had a wonderful experience and an enjoyable time in Marblehead. David and Cheryl were very accommodating and their apartment was very charming. Could not have asked for a better location and the apartment was as advertised. Definitely am going to comeback!
Great location an overall great apt
Unit is very close to many shops and restaurants and everything felt new in the apartment. Bathroom and Kitchen were great and the fireplace was a big plus (it was one of the coldest weekends of the year when we visited). We also really appreciated being able to have our dog with us.
Thank you! We may stay again!
Thank you Cheryl and Dave for such a beautiful stay in your home! Everything was perfect! Warm and inviting and so cozy, as well as SPOTLESS! Sitting by the fireplace at night was our favorite part of the weekend and getting to see the full moon from the deck was the icing on the cake! Morning coffee watching the sun come up was another favorite, so serene. The bed was so comfortable, those pillows! Like sleeping on a cloud! Thank you also for the recommendation to The Landing Restaurant. Lobster was delish as well as their Espresso martinis! Can't wait to return for another stay in your home! Thank you again!
We had a great girls weekend! The apartment was beautiful and the location couldn't have been better. Thank you Cheryl!!
The location was perfect, the house was nice and clean. I would recommend this listing.
Our family of 4 (2 adults, 13 yo, 12 yo) enjoyed our stay in Marblehead. Old Town is the PERFECT place to relax, while being in a prime location to visit Boston and Salem! Would have preferred 2 couches in the living room, so the 1 bedroom would have been private. The Wifi didn't work for us, and the air didn't seem to work very well either. However, we didn't need the wifi, and the weather was cool enough to not need the AC either. I was a little nervous upon pulling up to the house as it is in need of exterior repairs, but the inside was recently updated and very clean. All in all it was a great rental, with a great price range for this absolutely breathtaking area!
