About Kelly Curry/ Lon Miller
My Name is Kelly Curry and I am a internationally known professional mural artist. I travel around the US and Central America painting large building murals. You can see my work on Rt. 12 between the bridge and Alexandria Bay across from the car dealership. Also down the road in Clayton NY is home to more than half a dozen murals painted by me. You can drive through the towns and see almost all of them by car. In Alexandria Bay you can see more of my work at the Cornwall brothers museum and in surrounding areas like Syracuse NY at the Erie Canal Museum and in Columbus Circle on the Catholic Diocese buildings.
Kelly Curry/ Lon Miller purchased this House in 2012
Why Kelly Curry/ Lon Miller chose Redwood
I bought this property because this is where my family first arrived from Ireland in 1850's.When my ancestor was 20 years old he came to log the area and he lived in Goose Bay. In 1963 my mother met my father here in Goose bay where she and her friends had rented a cottage for a short vacation. I felt like buying the home was really my life coming full circle, coming back to my roots.
What makes this House unique
A great view, by day river, sun and sky. By night stars and moon. Few things are more relaxing than sitting out on the deck on a sunny morning enjoying a cup of coffee or tea looking at the calm water of Goose Bay and the St. Lawrence river. You often see wildlife close up such as loons, ducks, geese and herons, osprey and jumping fish, and in the spring giant carp that look like mermaids when they breach the surface. Lots of turtles too!

Great location, very pretty area. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Thank you, we hope to see you again some time!
Peaceful, comfortable and beautiful. Just what we needed.
Lon was very welcoming and explained everything we needed to know before turning the property over to us for the weekend. The house was clean and comfortable. The layout makes it easy to gather with family and relax. Our boys had fun playing soccer in the yard and everyone enjoyed s’mores around the bonfire. The view of the bay and river beyond is beautiful. We were treated to gorgeous sunsets and sunrises. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.
Thank you Robin, always glad to share the beautiful fall sunrises and sunsets at our home, hope the fresh carrots were a welcome addition to your husband's jambalaya!
My family and I rented for a weekend to attend a wedding and it was perfect- quiet, beautiful and comfortable. The view of the bay from the deck was pretty and the boys enjoyed fishing from the dock.
The house is in a great location, 10 minutes from Alex Bay and about 20 minutes from Clayton, where we needed to be.
Everything was clean and there was more than enough room for all 8 of us!
Idyllic serene location - Perfection!
I apologize for the delay in writing our review. Health related issues took my attention when we returned home from our stay.
My family and I had the most marvelous time, and we all wish we could go back tomorrow! Kelly's home is lovely. It's spacious, the location is perfect, and only a short drive to Alex Bay and the grocery store, the sunsets were out of this world, and being able to pick fresh organic produce from Kelly's garden was a unique and wonderful gift.
Kelly was at the house for our arrival, and showed us everything we needed to know, and she even picked vegetables from the garden for us. It takes a lot of trust to open your home to others, so we were sure to leave everything just as it was presented for us. The house was clean, and overall well equipped with almost anything you will need to prepare and cook your meals.
We do have a few suggestions. There were seven of us, but not enough bowls - as is salad bowls, or bowls you'd use for oatmeal for instance. There were only three. Also, for the meat eaters in my family, there were only a few steak knives. And, I think you might need a vegetable peeler, because we couldn't fine one.
There weren't enough large sized towels for everyone. My adult kids had towels that didn't wrap around their bodies. Not to nitpick, but a few more adult sized towels would be great, and maybe a stack of fluffier wash cloths.
The pullout Sleeper had a sheet for the mattress, but not a top sheet. She did bring a pillow from home, otherwise, we didn't find any extra pillows for that bed.
The overhead light in the yellow bedroom was blown out, and we didn't find any light bulbs in the house to change them. I don't know, do people take that kind of stuff?
Lastly, we couldn't get the key to lock the door. I realize your home is is off the beaten path, and on a private drive, but it bothered my kids that the door didn't lock.
Honestly though, it was a wonderful time away with our children, and we loved every minute of it! The large grill was utilized every night, and we made a fire in the fire pit one night with wood we bought down at the store. So great!
You have a real gem, and thank you for sharing your home! We appreciate it. I'm hoping we can return next year, because it was just what the doctor ordered!
Thank you again Kelly. You rock!
Thank you for review and suggestions. We do try to keep up with towels, and in the beginning of renting a few years ago, we used to buy large beach type towels of good quality. Unfortunately towels are the only things that go missing and over time i have bought the less expensive ones to avoid feeling bad when i find them gone. I will address this for next year, because ultimately i want my guests to be comfortable. We do check our stock of utensils each time we do a turn over and we replace as needed, we did notice some bowls missing but we had a few bowls for soup that we thought would work. I am sorry about that, next year we will stock extra! I wish you had called or texted at first sign of a missing item or a need we could have fixed. We respond immediately, and we would have been happy to fix the issue. I do believe the lock was becoming faulty and difficult to work with the key. It has been changed. You were wonderful guests and i do hope you return next year, but please hurry because we only have a few weeks left! Again, i appreciate you taking the time to write a review, and we will be implementing your suggestions.
Beautiful, secluded waterfront property on Goose Bay
All the amenities and sunset over Goose Bay. Large, private dock is perfect for any size boat. Property is at the end of lane and is secluded with open area for yard games and large fire ring. Lovely garden for fresh veggies. Open kitchen dining living room area with 3 bedrooms and 1 sunroom with pullout couch is cozy as well. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.
Thank you very much! I am glad you enjoyed your vacation! Thank you for taking good care of our home.
Pictures don't do it justice
The place was beautiful. The pictures didn't do it justice. My group had a wonderful and quite weekend. Kelly the owner was absolutely fantastic and very accommodating. She truly made her home feel like our own for our short stay. Couldn't have asked for a better stay.
Boldt Castle is just one of two large gilded age castle's in the area, and after it's 20-something year restoration it is beyond magnificent! A must see, tour boats run daily to both locations. Also there are several state parks most within 15 minutes of the home, one is a roughly 20 minute (very scenic, relaxing) walk away. One of my favorite places to take my family is the local drive-in movie theater, open 7 days a week and offers the newest movies released (changing every week) the same great movies you'd see in the regular theater for a fraction of the price, and a great way to make your vacation one the kids will never forget, located 5 minutes away by car. The river is also well known for it's variety of shipwrecks for those who are coming up to do some diving. And of course there's the fishing. If that's why your coming up here I need not explain how wonderful the area is for fishing, for those who are thinking about bringing a pole, the 1000 island region is known as one of the best fishing destinations in the entire country and it's reputation is well deserved!
