good value for the price

The condo is just steps to the beach and it is well equipped for the most part. My husband and I stayed, with two day visitors on Saturday. Only 3 patio chairs - if you state it sleeps four people, you should probably have 4 chairs on the deck. The king bed was very comfortable. One lamp in bedroom missing a shade. The other shade had big water stains on it (both replaced by Wyndham maintenance at end of our stay - worker to the door and said he thought rental was empty... Um, no). He also brought 3 highball glasses because we only had one. How did they not know we were arriving Friday evening and have this taken care iLife prior? Not a huge deal but was annoying to have him show up when I had just gotten out of the shower. Shower curtains in both bathrooms had significant mildew. If owner is absent, Wyndham cleaning staff has to be noticing this. Shower curtains are an easy fix. Fridge had lots of rust on the outside. Inside was spotless but it just gives off an "I don't care vibe" and is very noticeable. Two kitchen drawers broken, stains on carpet. Place was comfortable and we would go back - but for less than $1000 the place could be seriously updated! Checking in was a bit painful. Arrived at office at 5:16 on. Called number in Wyndham office's door. They could not find our reservation by last name OR reservation number. 15 min later they managed to find it and direct us to the lock box for keys. Again - location great and the condo has a nice setup. But needs some TLC. Apparently 10:00 am checkout in last day is a Wyndham policy. Ridiculous - I travel A LOT and 1100 or 1200 is standard. We asked for a later checkout and got noon, but this policy almost made me not book it. If you come for relaxing weekend who wants to be up, packed & out by 10:00 on Sunday? Kitchen well equipped. Living room furniture comfy but dated. Loved the dining table with beach motif. Walk off deck to boardwalk and just steps to beach. Parking right outside the door. Bring ice - ice maker in fridge works when it wants to and there are no ice cube trays. Beach chairs on deck were great to take down to beach.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the excellent discussion of the maintenance and other issues. I will forward these comments on to ResortQuest who should be taking care of the maintenance and poor cleaning issues. I recognize that much of the condo could use updating. This is why I have kept the rent as reasonable as I can (for example, I always pay for the amenity card fee and almost always pay for the cleaning fee). Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide such a helpful review. John Kessler

Not in optimal condition, and don't expect this view of the sunset from the condo balcony!

  • 3 of 5

I love Peligan Watch and was aware that the unit I rented had not been updated. But the owner assured me that there was a water view, which was not really true as the sea grass on the dunes blocked practically all of the visual aspect that I enjoyed from my second floor rental last year. The rental fee that I paid was worthy of a water view, especially since the condo itself was "tired". I am sorry that this was misrepresented by the owner!

Great vacation rental

  • 4 of 5

Seabrook Island and Pelicans Watch is the perfect combination for a great vacation! The unit was clean and comfortable. The check in process was seamless. The unit could use some cosmetic updates but it was cheaper than other similar units and I was happy with the lower cost. You should be outside enjoying all Seabrook has to offer!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. Yes, my wife and I are thinking about doing some remodeling, but until we do, we'll continue to keep our rates competitive. We're glad you enjoyed yourselves.

Perfect Get Away

  • 5 of 5

We decided last min to leave downtown Charleston and stay near the beach. So happy we did! First time staying in Seabrook and we will be back. This place is right on the beach, you can watch the sunset from the deck. Great space for a couple and child.

Great Condo

  • 4 of 5

Spent 3 days at your property this July. This is a very comfortable condo with everything we needed. You were right about the couch bed, it was probably the most comfortable one we have found in a condo. We had a wonderful 3 days on Seabrook and wished we had stayed longer.

The only problem we had was with the amenities. The first day we were issued the wrong cards. When we contacted the office they were a little rude and after driving the distance to the office there wasn't even an apology for their mix-up. We definantly will stay at your property again though because of the ease of getting it booked through the Resort Quest.

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed the condo, but am sorry to hear there was a problem with the amenity cards. I will let the folks know in the office that handles the amenity cards know about your experience.

Fun at the Beach except for the mean lady

  • 4 of 5

This was a nice condo. We have stayed at Pelican's Watch every summer for about 10 years. I am going back to Seabrook with a friend at the end of July. Several things that were not great: The bed, extremely uncomfortable and creaky. No pot holders, had to go buy a pot to steam crabs in, no crackers for the crabs, every other condo we have ever stayed in has these for use. The old lady down at the end screamed at my son for digging a hole in the sand. She also STOLE his shovel. The shovel was heavy duty and had sentimental value. We adopted Colby and it was the shovel we bought we first bought him to Seabrook when he was 5, he is now 11. Several adults on the beach said that she was extremely cruel to our son. I do not appreciate her screaming and stealing his shovel. I did call security...but it seems that it really did not matter to them because no one returned his shovel and no one apologized to him. This happened last year to another young man that is a friend of ours and they now stay at the upper part of the area. She is extremely rude and I really think condos need to be discounted in her area if we have to continue to put up with her attitude. I also would like my son's shovel BACK.

Owner's Response: I am terribly sorry to hear about the mean lady. That sort of thing can certainly put a damper on the whole vacation. I will inquire the next time I am down there. The last time I was at the unit there was a cooking pot and a pot holder, so those two things must have disappeared. I apologize, and will get them replaced the next time I am down there. I am also sorry you found the king bed uncomfortable. I will add it to the list of things that need doing.
