Ocean breezes, palm trees, private beach

Space 1,440 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 28 nights

About the property

Close your eyes and imagine a tropical paradise. Now open them here, your home!

The view, the view and THE VIEW! Ocean breezes to soothe and regenerate your soul. Expansive elevated patios, one screened as a Lanai and one open to the night stars. Just steps away is the immaculate pool and clubhouse where you can enjoy billiards, shuffleboard, tennis and meet friends at the many social events for this active, vibrant inviting community.

Walking into the Great Room from the Master Bedroom, the commanding view astounds. You feel like your are on a ship at sea. Even a rainy day inspires with the classic romance of a serenading metal roof.

The community dock often has slips available for rent, particularly in the April to November season. Silver Shores is a safe, quiet community on one of the best locations in the Keys. The two island keys just offshore set the mood of inspiration. The private beach with picnic table is yours to savor. YES private. All yours.

There is also a community park and boat ramp about 300' to the north. The lot for this home is considered the best in the park due to the multi sided water views, cul-de-sac privacy and proximity to the community amenities.

The upscale floor plan is unique with Great Room and open beach cottage kitchen and adjacent dining zone. Full width windows frame THE VIEW!

Washer/Dryer on the main living level in dedicated laundry (not stuck in a shed or basement.)

Large master and guest bedrooms... king bed in master; guest BR also has king bed (makes into two twins). Guest Bedroom is as large as many homes' master.

Lots of parking, with high clearance covered port enclosing the main entry steps. Only a short run of steps, as the home is set low compared to many.

If you have stayed on the bayside of the Keys you may be familiar with flying pests... not an issue in this oceanfront setting. This is the place you've been dreaming about. Relax, you have arrived.

Please contact us for multi month rentals at reduced rates. Must be at least one month but may accept one month plus a few days or weeks if schedule permits.

About Barbie and Ken

Retired engineer and web site developer who enjoy scuba diving, fishing and boating in Key Largo. Have owned in the Keys since 1989, and finally attained this awesome oceanfront property we have been dreaming about.

Barbie and Ken purchased this house in 2014

Why Barbie and Ken chose Silver Shores

Key Largo has been a dream since we started diving in 1979. Not too many places that show up in songs, movies, high end art, TV ads and books as much as Key Largo. Have you seen the TV/Netflix series "Bloodline"? Filmed right here. There is a magic about this particular home that flows from the constantly changing breeze, the way the ocean responds to it, the clouds parading by against blue sky and swaying palms.

What makes this house unique

Private beach! Close to the renowned community amenities so you don't even need a golf cart or bike. Large kitchen and great room with amazing views all around.

Leaving Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Regretfully heading home tomorrow. We will greatly miss this amazing place. As I sit here on the lanai (screened patio), Frigatebirds float effortlessly by, at twice the height of the Pelicans and Seagulls (an incredible number of bird species frequent this place). As life-long water enthusiasts, we have stayed at a staggering number of water themed vacation rentals; this place is by far our favorite. Overlooking Dove and Rodriguez Keys, the ocean is simply beautiful here. At low tide it's a completely safe paddle to the islands, since the water depth is less than four feet (we had a blast windsurfing here). wife wants me to mention the splendid decor and updated appliances and furniture: Everything is top-notch and everything you could possibly need is right here.

Unlike the hustle and bustle of Miami and South Florida, the Keys have a much more relaxed atmosphere. If you enjoy the water and nature, there is so much to see and do here...And if you don't, there are many great restaurants and shops. Perfect for bicycling (bring or rent), as there is a bike path well off the highway.

Leaving tomorrow, but my heart will forever remain: Thank you Ken and Barbie.

Ocean Palms was the perfect location for our family vacation. The home is very spacious, well maintained and is fully furnished with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. It was an added plus that the home was just steps away from the pool. The unobstructed ocean view is breathtaking! And the private beach in front of the home was a favorite with my daughter. I especially enjoyed lounging in the screened in patio, enjoying the ocean breeze. Ken and Barb are extremely friendly and accommodating.

Nice location, beautiful views, but flawed property

  • 3 of 5

Overall the property is exactly as pictured. Beautiful views, right on the water and generally spacious. It's a wonderful place to launch a kayak with mangroves and islands nearby. The owner has a great patio and a new gas grill for evening dinners. The kitchen is perfectly equipped. The nearby pool is well maintained and great for lounging and laps. The screened portion of the patio was perfect for meals.

Now for the flaws (none are that bad, but cumulatively are annoying. Some are beyond the owner's control):

1) Musty smell. Of course, this happens on the water. But, the home has thick, shag, wall to wall to carpeting. The smell lives in the carpet, which appears very old. Tile or bamboo floors would be more appropriate. Perhaps the owner once smoked or had pets.

2) Furniture is likewise on 20+ years old and a bit musty, as well as dated.

3) The owner should have been clear the home is a double wide trailer.

4) There is no swimming in the ocean.

5) There are no umbrellas or shade own the outside patio. Most neighbors have an awning or umbrella.

6) There is no wif. The owner steals wifi from the clubhouse, but the signal is too weak to be practical.

7) The pool area can be very loud, they start with water aerobics every morning and blast the same Best Of Big Band and Oldies albums all day. After a while, I had to walk to the clubhouse to shut off the music. Fortunately, no one yelled at us.

8) Bring your own beach towels, enough said.

Overall, the place was fine was for the pricet, but the flaws above when added together were distracting on a daily basis.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to provide a review. We have completed upgrades including a water resistant hardwood flooring material that should perform better with our ocean front setting. Also replaced the furnishings and air conditioning system. The old carpet you mention is long gone. We do not steal WiFi. We pay a hefty monthly assessment to the association that provides for all the common area facilities, including WiFi. We have had two computers and two mobile phones connected and not experienced performance problems. All our other renters, all giving us 5 stars, reported the service was satisfactory. To the issue of shade on the patio, we have a large screened covered lanai to provide a shaded yet outdoor venue. In addition, we have added an umbrella for the patio table and one for the beach since your stay. As to the pool noise: it is only for a short time in the morning during water aerobic class, and not noticeable inside the home. It is a trade off to be so conveniently located that a short barefoot stroll takes you to this awesome pool overlooking the ocean, palm trees and two offshore islands. There are six beach towels, in addition to an ample supply for the two bathrooms. We hope your next stay where ever you choose will warrant a few more stars.

Every thing you could want & more!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough wonderful things about our stay at Ocean Palms! The view is amazing! We couldn't wait to get out of bed in the mornings for those amazing early morning sunrises! Ken was wonderful to work with & very accommodating. We had everything we needed. There was a place just a few houses or so away to put in the jet skis & right out front to put in the kayaks. The pool is conveniently located next door & was greeting us with water arobics & a friendly group of people. Socialize as much or as little as you want or not at all. We felt very safe for late night walks & fishing of the pier. Everything is conveniently located nearby. Would definately stay there again! Perfect vacation spot!

Breathtaking view

Coffee on the lanai every morning with endless water views. Steps away from your own private beach. Home has large rooms that are very open and comfortable. The home was well stocked. Owners were very accommodating. We would recommend this for a very relaxing vacation.
