Cozy porch on the front of the house, with cafe table and wicker chairs for two, looks out onto beautiful front yard with rock outcroppings and trees. This beautiful area is fenced and also has a picnic table for an outside family meal.

2 separate yards both fenced. Large front yard with rock formations and trees. Side yard has a privacy fence, large deck, hot tub, hammock, table and umbrella, lounge chairs, cushioned bench and planted trees and bushes.

This house is large enough to provide spaces for everyone to gather or for guests to spread out and find a private spot to spend time alone.

About Scott and Diane Sutter

We were both born in Colorado. Scott was born in Loveland and moved to Estes Park when he was only 2 years old. Diane was born in Boulder and moved to Elgin, Illinois but moved back to Estes Park 31 years ago. We met in Estes Park almost 30 years ago and were married here in Estes Park at Diane's parents' house only about 1 mile south of our current home. We bought our home on December 23, 1987. We didn't tell the kids we were buying a house. Instead we had my parents watch them while we moved all of our furniture and things into the house and then picked them up. We took them to the house saying that we just wanted to look at the house and see if we wanted to buy it. Our daughter said, 'Hey, this is all of our stuff! What is it doing here?' Our home started out at only 1250 sq. ft. which was a little too cozy for a family of 5. We decided to build onto our house and did most of the work ourselves. The only things that we paid someone else to do was the excavation, foundation and some tile work around the kitchen counters. We added on the Master Bedroom, Living room and garage. We have spent the last almost 30 years raising kids and now enjoying our extended family in this home. We are blessed to have 2 grandsons who are 2 1/2 years and 10 months and another grandson due at the end of December. Our home has been blessed with much love and happiness and we hope that you enjoy your stay at our home!

Scott and Diane Sutter purchased this house in 1987

A great house and What a View!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from our one week stay in Estes Park, Colorado, staying at the Carriage Hill home of Diane and Dennis. We arrived just as the house keeper was leaving on Saturday PM. We moved in and looked the house over. We were extremely impressed by how well the kitchen was equipped. There was for want of nothing. I really admired the layout of this ranch style house and my partner and I are considering a similar layout in our future home. Everything was very clean and the rooms in this house are on the large size. The house is furnished with quality furniture and this house felt like a home.

The view from the back yard in all directions is beyond my ability to describe.

Getting to the house using our GPS was confusing, but manageable. I later learned how to get back and forth from town to the house in a much more simplified manner. One tip....if you want to avoid going through the traffic in town to get to the Rocky Man Natl Pk take the Mary Lake road as a bypass. We used it practically everyday.

The Hot Tub was a blessing after hiking and we used it practically everyday. The stars at night were incredible. We also used the convenience of the washer and dryer several times during our stay. It sure was nice to go home with clean clothes.

The entertainment systems in the house were every good. It took some work to figure out how to use the TV in the kitchen in conjunction with the one in the living room. And the basket full of remotes was quite comical. There is a top of the line Bose Entertainment System, but I could never figure out how to use it since no instructions were provided. There was also an extensive collection of DVD's for both movies and music. Their were also quite a few games to play which we never had the time to do.

A BBQ grille was available as well and we did use this a couple of times. Hard to pay attention to grilling when the views outside are so overwhelming.

There was no AC available but it was never necessary.

If there was any negative worth mentioning I would have to say it was amount of hot water for showering. Most showers we took never required a cold water mix. The amount of hot water we did get was enough to shower. I still give the Carriage Hills Property FIVE stars despite the shower.

All in all I would stay at Carriage Hills Again in a heartbeat. And I recommend and encourage anyone interested in this property to do so.

Beautiful home, gorgeous scenery and humbling wildlife

  • 5 of 5

This is a gorgeous, well maintained slice of heaven nestled in the mountains in Estes Park with gorgeous scenery and humbling wildlife. The jacuzzi tub and hot tub were very relaxing. There were 6 of us celebrating my birthday and we were very comfortable all week. The town of Estes was very welcoming, found a great place to watch the Chiefs game. I will gladly stay here again the next time in Estes Park. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

New Year's family retreat

  • 2 of 5

We enjoyed our time in Estes Park. We had excellent weather and took advantage of chances to hike and browse about in the village. We found the house to be adequate, though the hot tub was not in working condition and finding utensils in the kitchen was a bit challenging. It might be beneficial to place silverware closer to the other eating utensils. Also, given that we rented the home in order to use the kitchen for meal preparation, it would be helpful to stock the kitchen with a greater variety of useful tools (wire whisk, rubber spatulas, liquid measuring cups, ladle, pitcher). If the hot tub is being used as an attraction point for rental, please assure that it is well maintained and operable, as that was a strong incentive for our choice of this property. We have rented lodging through VRBO several times in various locals, including internationally. Every place that has represented that there is ample sleeping space for 7-8 adults has had 3 bedrooms. We take responsibility for choosing this unit for our party of 7, but we were assured that there would be ample sleeping space for a party of 7-8 adults. We found sleeping accommodations to be sub-par, despite the owners' assurance otherwise. We enjoyed the movie choices and generally found the dining space ample for our size of family. Despite the gorgeous view from this location, we would hesitate to rent this property again.

Owner's Response: We are so sorry to see this review. We have never had problems with the hot tub before and it was working when the house and hot tub were cleaned and serviced before the renters arrival. When we were notified of the hot tub not working we tried walking the renter through some possible fixes. After trying these and finding that it was not an easy fix, we had an electrician come and check the connections. After the electrician found that the connections were fine and it was a problem with the hot tub we called the hot tub repair service. We spoke with the renters and they said that it was not a big deal because they were probably not going to use it anyway. We felt terrible that the hot tub wasn't working but since this happened during New Years weekend we couldn't get anyone to come until after the renters were gone. The hot tub is a good reason to rent our home and we certainly did not intend to have it not working. As far as the kitchen not having certain utensils, we will get those supplied as soon as possible. The silverware is located near the kitchen table which makes it very convenient but the kitchen is very large and it's hard to have it located so that it's always where you want it. Other renters have commented in their reviews that the kitchen is fully stocked and they were very impressed We are not sure why these renters where not happy with the sleeping arrangements? There are 3 bedrooms which include, a king-size bed, queen-size bed, full size-bed, queen size-size sofa sleeper and a futon. We are not sure why this renter didn't think our home was as advertised and didn't give them sleeping accommodations. Everything is listed in the ad and the pictures show each room and bed. I guess that you can't make everyone happy. Please see the other renters reviews to get a better feel for our home.

Roomy and comfortable for relaxing, dining and cooking.

  • 4 of 5

Well suited for the three of us. Two persons in the party use walkers and it was relatively simple for them to get about. Polyester is not very suitable for sheets and pillowcases so we purchased cotton products the day after we arrived. The timing was perfect for aspen color and the elk were in great abundance. Big crowds but it just added to the energy of Estes Park. We'll do this again and would stay here again.

Words cannot describe!

  • 5 of 5

The home is amazing!! Its located in a neighborhood off of the highway, the road turns into a dead end dirt/gravel road. You cannot hear any traffic. All you hear are the elk calls, its super super quiet!!!!! Its just stunning. The inside has it all. Coffee maker, popcorn maker lol movies, board games etc. The list goes on.....

A definite repeat for sure:)

We are located in Estes Park just minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park where there is great hiking, cross country skiing and snow shoeing, with more than 300 miles of trails. Check with rangers at the National Park Visitor Center for specific trail information. In the summer, it's a good idea to use the National Park shuttle, rather than parking at trailheads. Trail Ridge Road, over 12,000' at its highest point, offers a spectacular drive through the National Park. At 11,796', you can visit the Trail Ridge Store and Alpine Visitor Center. Depending on weather and conditions, Trail Ridge Road is open from around Memorial Day through Labor Day, unless weather permits a longer season. If you start early for your drive, you have a good chance of spotting wildlife. You can drive Trail Ridge Road to the small town of Grand Lake with its quaint board sidewalks, restaurants, and shops. Visit the historic Grand Lake Lodge for lunch and views from the deck. In the fall, bull Elk are bugling and defending their harems from rival bulls. The National Park is a good place to watch this annual ritual and listen to the bugling. You can also witness this in the town of Estes Park. Many have had Elk interfere with their golf games! For the sake of your safety and their need to remain wild, it is a good idea to enjoy Elk and all other wildlife from a distance.

Spend a day enjoying all of the shops and restaurants in Estes Park, or an evening meal out after a hike. There are many festivals and other events to enjoy in Estes Park throughout the year. You can also walk or bike around Lake Estes, or rent a boat and spend time on the lake. The views are beautiful! Estes Park Mountain shop rents bikes and also has an indoor climbing gym. This shop and other outfitters offer guided trips for climbing, hiking, snowshoeing, and fly fishing. Horseback riding is available at Jackson Stables at the YMCA of the Rockies.

After enjoying a day in the National Park or Estes Park, come home to enjoy another lovely place. The area around this home is perfect for a leisure walk and wildlife is all around. You can see Elk, Deer, Coyotes, Eagle, Hawks, Rabbits, Ground Squirrels, Chipmunks, and an occasional Badger. Sit back, relax, and enjoy all the comforts of home without worrying about sharing your space with anyone else!
