We stayed 4 nights at Nuno’s and Maggie’s wonderful apartment. It’s so clean and comfortable, architecturally and historically interesting, while conveniently located to the best of old Lisbon.We absolutely recommend this stay! Love the balconies, Tagus river view, and all the newly renovated touches!

Really enjoyed our time at the apartment. Host was great and communication was on time and helpful. I would wholeheartedly recommend with two small caveats. First, if you are tall, the upstairs area around the master bed makes for a lot of ducking. Second, there are a number of bars and restaurants immediately below the apartment and the music and crowd noises go well into the night. If you are fine with a lively scene, you will really enjoy it.

Estela and Ricardo’s rental apartment was thoughtfully designed to make you feel at home, and the location is perfect. Both my sister and I are older and not as spry as we once were, so even though Lisbon is a walking city on seven, steep, cobblestoned hills, our location was perfect for us. Amazing, affordable cuisine, close by conveniences, lots of great shopping. I cannot recommend more highly the Chiado apartment, which is ground floor and relatively quiet (you’re in a busy city so it’s to be expected that there will be noise.) Two more things: our hosts were there to show us everything we needed to know about the apartment and made themselves quickly available throughout our stay, which has never happened before when I’ve rented from VRBO, and the best time to come to Portugal is February to April. Portugal is a beautiful country with beautiful people!

Great option in Alfama- communication with host was super easy and they met us at the apartment to show us around. Rooms very spacious. View of the water spectacular. Easy walking to various sites plus great food options. We had 6 people in the apartment and found it plenty spacious.

After getting our bearings, and learning how to get to the Metro, train, and tram stations from the apartment, we realized what a gem this apartment was. The stairwell down to restaurant/shopping district, Santa Justa elevator, and Rossio square right next to the door, and the tram 28 stop (Martim Moniz) a few blocks down the street. We saw everything we wanted to and then some, all accessed by public transportation (even Azenhas do Mar by train to Sintra and 1 bus). Do not get advanced tickets to Peña Palace, but get there early- we saw plenty of unhappy tourists not getting entry after paying for tickets, the entry gives you a half hour window to get to the entrance which is a good 20 minute walk uphill, and if you miss it too bad for you. You also have to by a 12.50 Euro for 24 hr bus pass to get to Pena Palace and other castles (stop at Moorish castle before Peña Palace- you have to go back down the hill to catch the other bus to Quinta da Regaleira which you can use the 24hr bus pass you paid for. We used mostly Green and Blue metro lines, and the train from either Rossio or Cais do Sodre- please research how to get to the places you want to see on public transportation, you do NOT want to drive in Lisbon. Don’t be dumb and wear heels, wear good quality athletic shoes. Hostess Filipa was helpful with restaurant recommendations, greeting us with pasteis de nata, and recommending using Uber app for airport transfer, and Pingo Doce a grocery for quick breakfast and beer.

Many things make this apartment perfect as a base to tour Lisbon. The first thing is Sofia - from the first email interaction to getting directions to information and help during my week’s visit, Sofia was there to assist. It was a pleasure to meet her and I recommend her apartment highly. The second is the apartment itself - has all the amenities for a week’s stay. The pots and pans are good quality, kettle, coffee maker, toaster etc were all of the highest quality. I have stayed in many apartments over the years where the kitchen set-up was truly pitiful. The third reason this apart,ent is perfect is the location- near everything, particularly public transit and a Fado bar, yet it is an oasis of peace and quiet.
