Classic Waterfront Home, Private Beach, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps up to 6)
This is a wonderful place to get away from the hectic world! A Magnificent View, a Private Beach, a nice yard, eagles, and marine wildlife. Bring your binoculars!
Our comfortable waterfront Orcas home is located at the end of a private road on 7 acres, on the east side of the island, roughly midpoint between Point Lawrence and Doe Bay.
San Juan County Vacation Rental Permit: 00PROV18
The property commands a magnificent, sweeping view of Rosario Strait, Cypress, Sinclair and Blakely Islands, the Peapod Rocks, and the Cascade Mountains. It's a wonderful big sky and big water view that captivates. Please see my website for pictures.
We offer you a very private, peaceful spot to spend time with friends and family. The sounds are seagulls, changing tides, and the wind in the trees. And, from the house, yard, and your own private beach, you can enjoy passing boats and marine life. Sea lions, otters, orca whales, deer, bald eagles, and seabirds of all kinds abound.
In warm weather a picnic table, lawn chairs and barbeque are put out. Because of a southerly exposure, the yard is a great place for soaking up the sun and dining outdoors.
In the winter months, a cozy fire and a good book will provide welcome relaxation while you watch the changing maritime scenery.
Guests who visit our house take away fond memories...like a full moon rising over the Cascades, a bald eagle landing right out front in our largest tree, a salmon doing a tail dance across the water...or the ultimate: a pod of whales on parade 75 yards offshore. And, no one forgets our view and the peacefulness.
We have been renting the house for happy vacations for thirty years. Over the years, many couples and families have returned to enjoy this wonderful place.

About Melinda McGee
I grew up in the South and was blown away by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Melinda McGee purchased this House in 1986
Why Melinda McGee chose Doe Bay
I fell in love with this place the first moment I walked into the yard. It has an amazingly open captivating view of the water and a private beach in a very private location. The house is very sweet and comfortable. I bought this property with the intention to eventually retire there. I am now living in California and will eventually sell this property to another family to enjoy. Please let me know if you would like to move to Orcas Island.
What makes this House unique
For the past thirty years many families and couples have had relaxing and wonderful times here watching the wildlife, especially the bald eagles. Getting away from the hectic, technology driven lives and refreshing and rebooting in nature.

Beautiful, isolated, yet close
My friend and I stayed at this property for three nights and had a wonderful time. The house was spacious and clean and the views from the yard were lovely. The kitchen was well appointed. We went hiking in the day at the nearby state park and in the evenings we came "home," made dinner, and relaxed. The location was remote, which we loved. We saw lots of birds and animals, but no people at all. Yet we were 30 minutes from a grocery store and 15 minutes from hiking. For us, it was perfect. It's a beautiful island for a getaway and a beautiful property in which to get away.
Awesome view. A perfect, private retreat.
Melinda McGee's lovely house is situated on a beautiful private grassy area above Rosario Strait. We saw dolphins swimming by, and many birds. There was a beautiful double rainbow one afternoon after a rain shower. We loved walking down the stairs to the beach, cooking in the large kitchen, and relaxing in the cozy living room. It was just a short drive to Olga, Moran State Park, and Eastsound. Melinda was easy to contact and very helpful with ideas about exploring the island. A perfect place to relax and unwind in a beautiful, tranquil setting.
Wonderful week on Orca's Island at this great property
My wife and I spent 6 days on Orca's staying in this house. The view off the back deck was spectacular and we spent most evenings watching sunset, watching the boats, sea lions, birds and "slappy" on of the harbor seals (who loved to slap the water). The house itself was very well setup, extremely clean and guest friendly. This was my first time on Orca's and we found lots of things to do including the ocean, lakes, mountain and roaming around the various shops and restaurants. The house is about as far away from the ferry as is possible on the island and is at the end of a small dirt road which made it very quiet and tranquil. Coming and going to the house we saw many deer just standing by the side of the road; I think our one way record was 10 deer coming home from dinner one evening. Besides helping the economy by shopping at the stores, we bought veg's from a farm stand and the Saturday Market; Lamb and Beef from a local ranch and shell fish from a great fish place. Melinda the owner was excellent to work with and all the particular's about the rental were very well handled.
I am considering going back off season and see what it will be like then.
Thanks, Bob. I'm so glad you found my house and the amazing beauty and peacefulness of Orcas Island for your vacation. Welcome back anytime! Melinda
Nice home and view !
Stunning view, spacious house
We had a great three day stay, relaxing and watching out over the water towards the nearby islands. The owner was very prompt about responding to our inquiries. The house is off the beaten path, but still within easy driving distance of Doe Bay Resort, Moran State Park, and Eastsound. Thank you!
We really enjoyed our very short stay. The views and the tranquility at the end of Peapod Lane were fantastic. We enjoyed the ability to cook our own meals and sit at the dining table overlooking the water.
Waterfront, Beach, Bird Watching (American Bald Eagles); Whale watching (Orcas); Other Marine Life (seals, sea otters)
