Whitewater River rafting, fishing golf great restaurants and a breath taking view of Black Rock Mountain and surrounding mountains. We are located 7 miles south of North Carolina and 5 miles west of South Carolina.If you are looking for Gatlinburg you might want to keep looking but if you would like to visit Gatlinburg we are an hour and a half due south.Most of the water in Georgia comes from our mountains and we are blessed with many lakes and rivers,the Chattooga being the crown jewel of the southern whitewater rivers.Lake Burton,Seed,Rabun,Tallulah and Tugelo,Yonah are all very close.Lots of activities in the area or just sitting on the porch and looking at a beautiful view.If you enjoy wine there are a good many vineyards. Helen the beautiful little Bavarian Town is 38 miles southwest and an easy drive.PLEASE NOTE being in the mountains this is a" mountain driveway "but it is short and all concrete and very stable.USE LOW GEAR.Note for newcomers to the area there are books in magazine form called "The Wayward Traveler"on site with many things to do places to eat etc. Very informative and for your use.We also send a packet "snail mail" with many things to do and see.

This property has it all. It is comfortable and cozy with a beautiful view.Large enough for a family with plenty of activities in the area or just sitting on the porch isn't bad.Firewood is always down below the porch for you to use.PLEASE NO MOTORCYCLES OR 4 WHEELERS.
What makes this Cabin unique
We purchased Williebear Cabin July 2008.It was built in 1999 but never used.We looked at many properties in the area and many had a 'winter view'.Not this one.The view is panoramic and the highlights are Black Rock Mountain,Pinnacle and Saddle Gap North Carolina.This home has the cozy appeal but also has plenty of room for 8-10 people.It is on 2 1/2 levels and is mainly wood floors and walls.The fireplace is stone and puts out a lot of heat.It is updated often and well maintained.All systems are checked regularly for best performance

- If you like to trout fish ask owner.Will send you to the right place depending on the time of year.Please no 4 wheelers or motorcycles .Will not be responsible for any accidents on premises.Also we have gone back to review booking vs on-line booking and will contact you to make sure our cabin is for you.The mountains are beautiful and there are lots of things to do.But frankly some people should go to the beach.The roads are windy and our drive is steep but short and all "rolled concrete" with very good grip.So if you are unsure of the mountain driving this place is probably not for you.Thanks

Comfortable, well stocked kitchen, great view
The driveway was intimidating at first, but we learned to navigate it. Gave us a good excuse to relax on the deck!

An Awesome Mountain Experience
We had a fantastic stay at Willy Bear Cabin. First of all the roads were really curvy and the driveway steep but after one or two times down the road to the city all was fine. Just had to get accustomed to the roads. We are from Florida and everything is flat. Next, we loved the rustic decor of the cabin. Living in Florida everything is beaches and it was a breath of fresh air to be in the mountains in this fabulous cabin. Then there is the view. Awesome!!! You could look across the mountain range every five minutes and the view would be different every time. Between watching the sunset and the smoke coming and going across the range the view was breathtaking and in the evening you could see a cross on the mountain that was lit each evening. Although we didn’t get to actually go see fireworks we did sit on the deck and watch as others across the mountains set off their own fireworks. As far as the cabin being equipped with dishes, pots and pans, toiletries, coffee pot, blenders, etc. there was plenty. Of all the cabins we have ever rented this cabin was the best equipped. We travelled to Helen and Dillard, Ga and also to Franklin, NC. All were short and beautiful scenic drives. And best of all, Mr. Bill was very accommodating. Any questions we had he was so eager to help us and was very pleasant to speak with. We appreciate Bill and Karen willing to open their home and share with others an experience we don’t get to have here in Florida. Thank you and we look forward to renting your cabin again.

We loved our stay at the cabin! Everything was perfect. Only thing we had a problem was the drive way since we do have a big and kind wide truck we drive, but other than that everything was good with us! the view was beautiful, hiking trails were pretty closed as well as the grocery store if we needed it! thank you, we plan on coming back as soon we can!!

Very nice cabin way up in the mountains
The owners are super nice and full of southern charm. A lot of detail is given to each guest including a welcome kit we received in the mail. Despite the curvy and steep roads, the cabin is easy to get to and close to lots of the outdoor activities offered in this area. The cabin was very clean and loaded with everything you could need or things you forgot. Beds were comfortable, ice maker worked well, and the views (day and night) were great. We have zero complaints about our stay.

Short spring break trip with our Gator family! Loved the location, cabin provided everything for a fun, stress free getaway! Will definitely return!

Please make sure to check our calender before trying to book.We get many requests for time already booked.Thank You.Note this cabin is very self-contained with almost everything you need except perishable food.ALSO it is a mountain driveway but is short and all concrete and very stable. Unfortunately we have had to add a damage deposit to our billing. While most of our guests are great we have had a few that have "trashed the place".Please note we don't expect you to clean up since you pay for cleaning.But if it is badly taken care of your deposit will not be returned and I will send pictures and explanation as to why.We try very hard to make this place nice and supply a lot of things the others don't so pelase keep that in mind.
