Are you looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of 21st century living, step back in time 200 years in order to enjoy the rhythms of nature? Come listen to the rain on a tin roof and sleep in the morning until you are finished.
You and your children can feed the chickens, collect eggs, milk goats or go for a long walk. Due to bio-security and health issues we have a strict no pet policy.
You can meet Sir Galahad, the Great Pyrenees, ring the dinner bell or hang out in the "Man Cave" with the 42 inch flat screen TV. Come away and relax with a glass of wine in the cool of the evening as all the stars in the Milky Way pop out to greet you.
The most amazing part of this saga is that it is available only a short 14 minute drive from the Rotunda at University of Virginia. Quarters Farm is also only 15 minutes from Pippen Hill Vineyard, King Family Vineyard and Pollack Vineyard. We are 45 minutes from Wintergreen and close to many fine restaurants.
One new addition is a catering service provided by close friends. They can have the frig stocked when you arrive, or cater a meal during your stay. Prices and information sent upon request.
The history of the farm only adds to the mystique. In 1745 King George of England granted 1800 acres to the Mills family who moved to Virginia and had a three story home built with 6 rooms for themselves and their three sons. This home predates the beginning of construction on Thomas Jefferson's Monticello by 18 years. In the 260 years since then, wings and additions have been added on to the original stone and log construction
My father purchased 180 acres, along with the house, in 1952. It is now a sustainable farm selling grass fed beef, pastured eggs, and other products which are all available to our guests. My wife and I live in a house close by and run the farm.
A beautiful kitchen attached to a large screened-in porch, along with a second story porch for enjoying the mountain views with your favorite beverage. 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms will comfortably meet your needs
We believe that you will find this home truly inviting and relaxing, well furnished with antiques and beautiful furniture. The house has a whole house generator, so you will not have to leave in the case of a power outage.

Great property and the hosts were incredible. Highly recommend!
Wonderful in every way!
This farmhouse is wonderful. Its peaceful, quiet with beautiful views. The fresh cut flowers were such a pleasant and welcoming gesture. Wonderful fresh ground coffee, half & half and fresh eggs in the refrigerator. The screened porch was a great place to relax as well as the front porch with the rockers. There was plenty of room for our 2 families that were sharing the space. We stayed for 2 weeks so we did a lot of cooking. The kitchen has plenty of room with new appliances. There's also a large dining room table but we didn't use that space. Darby Farms offers catering and we took advantage of that for a couple of meals. We had a fabulous baked french toast for breakfast and a ham and cheese quiche for dinner. We also tried her spinach and artichoke dip with her homemade bread squares. This is highly recommended. We had salads and homemade pizza that was excellent and she delivers! At Quarter Farm you see the goats and baby goats, chickens and cows. We also had the pleasure of spending time with Sir Galahad. We hiked on the property and hiked to the pond. The beds are so comfortable and the sheets and bedding were of a high quality. There were plenty of towels available. We had to do several loads of laundry since we had a toddler with us so the washer and dryer were easily accessible in the basement. This was a very stressful time for our family and Bill and Cynthia were the most understanding, comforting, caring people I have honestly ever met. My daughter said, "I think you have made friends for life." And I hope that is true because they are truly wonderful people. You won't be disappointed if you choose to stay here but plan to kick back and relax. You are only 15 min from Charlottesville so it's easy to take in some sites and good restaurants but head back to the peacefulness of the farm. I can't thank Bill and Cynthia enough for their hospitality.
Cozy, charming, relaxing, clean and comfortable, great views!
Our children and grandchildren stayed 5 nights at this wonderful place to ring in 2018 and it couldn't have been better! Sir Galahad the gorgeous white Pyrenees, the goats, chickens and yes, those roosters, and of course Bill ( and Cynthia, who I unfortunately missed meeting) made our visit complete. Due to weather in the single digits and my own broken ankle we stayed inside a lot.....and what a great house to hang out in! Trips to wineries, breweries, bookstores, artisan shops ( go visit the Barn Swallow!) , Beverdero on New Years Eve, coffee at the Mudhouse, a mass on New Years Day at the monastery, just driving around taking in the gorgeous landscape in winter......loved it. Want to return in spring or fall to sit on the great porch!!!!!! Thank you Bill and Cynthia, I hope to be back!!!! xoxoxo Cindy Wooten
We loved hosting you and your family. Cynthia is also sorry not to have met, but will do next time. Your review will also help future guests decide if this is right for them,
Thanks so much,
Beautiful region, friendly hosts
We had a great stay at Quarters Farm. The property is older, and the kids loved exploring all the rooms. Cynthia and Bill had the place all decorated for Christmas and we felt right at home. My daughter is still talking about the farm animals. We went on some neat field trips while we were in the area and we were heading home for Christmas, but on the drive home she kept saying, "I wish I was back at the farm. I miss it already!"
The only advice I would give for another traveler is that the stairs are steep, if anyone in the party has mobility issues. Also, it is out in the country, so there are insects and spotty cell coverage.
We had such a wonderful time! The house and property are beautiful! It was so nice to sit outside on the screened porch and watch the cows, goats and chickens.
The house had everything you would need. Plenty of linens and towels. Kitchen was fully equipped, there was even half and half, butter and eggs from the farm in the fridge for us.
Bill and Cynthia were wonderful hosts. The kids had a great time helping with daily farm chores, which included feeding the chickens and gathering their eggs every evening. Sir Gallahad (the dog) was always there to greet us upon returning to the house. We will certainly be back!
We loved our stay with Bill and Cynthia. The property is stunning and they were very accommodating. I would happily recommend a stay here.
We are 12 miles from University of Virginia, 18 miles from Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson, 20 miles from Wintergreen ski and golf resort. There are many winery tours, micro brewerys and restaurents.
