About Stephen & Jeanette Travis

Stephen is retired military helicopter pilot, barber, glazer, truck driver. Jeanette is retired Insurance Producer. We are so happy to have this property right next door on our spacious 4.5 acres. We offer farm fresh eggs (when our 'ladies' are in production). We desire to honor our Lord & Savior by providing a tranquil & clean cottage for guests to relax & enjoy. We are enjoying our retirement with gardening, family & our little mini farm.

Stephen & Jeanette Travis purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Stephen & Jeanette Travis chose Oregon

Love of outdoors, rural setting & horses. Home was originally built in 1927 as garage to main farmhouse then converted to living quarters in 1950`s. Newly remodeled & furnished 2014.

What makes this cottage unique

Quiet, peaceful retreat where you can watch horses grazing, enjoy the country air, panoramic view with farm setting. Gorgeous stair railing made from cedar tree our son-in-law cut with his sawmill. Newly refinished wood floor upstairs. All new kitchen. Use our bicycles & explore The Greenway from Ashland to Central Point. Try zip lining at Rogue Valley ZipLine Adventure, or rafting the Rogue River. Enjoy Ashland's Shakespear Festival & Jacksonville's Brit Festival.

Tranquil and cozy little house

  • 5 of 5

Once again, our stay at the cottage was wonderful and very restful!! We kept remarking to each other about how quiet it was!! There is everything you need (unless you really need a TV) and it's like a home away from home. Jeanette had just put the softest flannel sheets ever on the bed and had the heater on so the place was toasty when we arrived. Although the owners give us plenty of privacy, they are there if you need them for anything. It is also fun to interact with their sweet dog and feel part of the "farm". Plenty of space, short drive (15min) to Ashland, lovely setting!

Peaceful and comfortable getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is in a lovely setting and has everything that one needs for a very comfortable stay. The kitchen is very well-equipped, the beds are comfortable, the heater works well, and there is Wi-Fi! I had never stayed outside of Ashland before and was concerned about the distance, but the ride into Ashland takes only 15 minutes and is a pleasant ride. And we found that it was nice to get out of town into the quiet! Jeanette and Steve were very friendly and helpful! We enjoyed it a lot!

Adorable and clean cottage

  • 5 of 5

Very clean and comfortable cottage. Perfect for our mother/daughter get away. The cottage has everything you need for a peaceful stay. The owners were discreet but also very friendly when we had the opportunity to meet them. The beds were super comfortable! We will be back to this gem.

The cottage is close to Ashland and Medford. We had a fabulous meal at Sesame Asian in Ashland... close to Lithia Park.

Charming farm setting

  • 5 of 5

Steve and Jeanette offer a wonderful country setting for anyone desiring a close, comfortable stay near Ashland. The cottage is right next door to the home of the owners but we hardly knew anyone was even there. I did go out and visit with Steve and Jeanette when I saw them outside. They were warm, friendly and welcoming. The cottage sits on their small farm, easily accessible from highway 99 in Talent, OR. When we arrived it was sparkling clean and there were a dozen farm fresh eggs (provided by their chickens) in the refrigerator! In the morning, we awoke to beautiful views of mountains in every direction and a pretty farm with three horses, a couple of dogs and a cat. The pets were friendly but were mostly seen and not heard. The beds were comfortable (our adult daughter slept upstairs and my wife and I slept in the bedroom on the main floor). The bathroom was small, but very adequate, with a shower and everything we needed. Since we had fresh eggs we ate breakfast in. Steve answered any questions we had regarding local wineries and local food. It really was like a home away from home and so much better than a crowded, noisy hotel room. We will be back.

Tranquil, lovely home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this lovely cottage, and we enjoyed it just as much as our first visit. The hosts have thought of everything to keep guests comfortable in this well-equipped, cozy place. We especially appreciate the furnished kitchen and the covered, outdoor eating area (shady enough for breakfast outside even on hot summer days). Stephen and Jeanette are gracious and helpful and made us feel very welcome. It’s a great location, quiet yet close to Ashland and exploring surrounding areas. We hope to return!

Cozy cottage in a bucolic setting

  • 4 of 5

We had a very nice stay in the cute cottage. It was clean, the beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well-appointed. It was also a very good value. We didn't have much interaction with the owners except when making the reservation but it was clear they were available had we needed them. They left detailed instructions about the property including how to reach them. This was very much appreciated.

It is perfectly located for going to Ashland, Medford, and Jacksonville with their myriad of attractions including the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Britt Music as well as great hiking, biking and other outdoor activities. The only negative was the shower because of the difficulty we all had with regulating the temperature. Despite that, I would highly recommend.
