Overview

About the property

Beautiful NEW 3BR, 3.5BA home on 2 levels, breathtaking views, perfect getaway

This beautiful three-year-old home ("Fish Creek Estes Vacation Home") backs up to Fish Creek and has stunning 180-degree views of Fish Creek, the golf course and mountains, including Long's Peak, Mummy Range and Continental Divide as well as access to the creek. See more photos and info on our social media pages.

The open-plan main floor (living/dining area, kitchen, half-bath, master bedroom and bath) has oak floors, vaulted ceilings, large windows and a beautiful 12x16 deck with log railings.

The down-filled leather couch in the living area provides comfortable seating opposite the fireplace hearth. There are two swivel chairs at the end of the couch that can face inward to the conversation area or out to the view. The coffee table drawers contain cards, dice and a few other games. The dining table seats up to 8 and there are also two bar stools at the granite peninsula in the kitchen.

The custom-designed kitchen has knotty alder cabinets, granite countertops, limestone tile backsplash and stainless steel Bosch appliances (with a gas stove). The kitchen has been very well outfitted to accommodate guests who love to cook. A Weber gas grill is available on the deck, which has a table and seating for eight as well.

Details that add to the ambiance of the main floor include a fireplace of local stacked stone, a hand-hewn log fireplace mantel, and the railing to the lower level is made of rough hand-hewn logs.

The 12x16 foot deck has breathtaking views. Though the neighborhood homes are fairly close together, the decks are not visible from the other houses. Enjoy as many moments of the day as possible in this awe-inspiring outdoor 'dining room' where the sunsets and wildlife add to the enjoyment. (Elk and deer are frequent visitors!).

The master bedroom (on the main level) has a picture window framing the view of Longs Peak to the south and another window with a view to the Mummy Range to the west. There is a down comforter on the rustic mahogany-colored queen sleigh bed. There is also a dresser and a TV with a DVD player and internet for Netflix, etc. The master bath has two sinks, a glass walk-in shower, a soaking tub and is tiled in a neutral shade. A large walk-in closet and a linen closet provide plenty of shelf and hanging space.

The lower level (second living area, two guest bedrooms, two full baths and a laundry room) provides more comfortable space for guests to gather or retreat. It has a sleeper sofa and loveseat and marble-topped coffee tables. The large flat-screen TV is connected to an Apple TV. There is also a collection of puzzles and games to entertain family and friends on a rainy afternoon or in the evening.

The two guest bedrooms (one with queen bed, one with twins that can be made into bunks - both with down comforters) each have their own attached baths; one of the baths also has access from the family room. The countertops, floors and tub surrounds are all tiled, with a multi-colored mosaic backsplash, and vanities are of knotty alder. All beds have down pillows and synthetic pillows for guests who prefer one or the other.

The laundry room has a Samsung front-load washer and dryer and there is also a drying rack, iron and ironing board.

The lower level opens onto a 12 x 16 foot patio under the deck that has more wonderful views of the golf course and the mountains beyond, and access to the creek.

This home is a few minutes from the town and is about a 5-minute walk to the Estes Park Golf Clubhouse. Lake Estes is less than a mile away and the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is about 10 minutes by car. It is a 5-minute drive up Fish Creek Road to Mary's Lake, or another couple minutes to the beautiful Lily Lake and a delightful .8 mile walk around the lake - perfect with young children. Or take the hike to side of Lily Lake that provides a bit more exercise and even better views. There is excellent rock climbing in 'Jurassic Park' above Lily Lake as well as all across Mummy Range.

In general, the options for visitors to Fish Creek Vacation Home and Estes Park are guaranteed to provide many wonderful memories for years to come.

Since we back up to Fish Creek, we are frequently asked about the effect of the 2013 flood on our home. The home itself sustained no damage. Construction on the walking path is well underway and is expected to be finished in the fall of 2017. Check our social media pages for updated info.

About Judith Wencel

Mark and I, both Kansas natives, grew up going to Colorado for family vacations. Mark’s fondest memories of Colorado involve ski trips with family and friends and mine are of summer family reunions.

When we had children of our own, we began taking them to Colorado, too, whether it was for skiing in the winter or hiking, biking, climbing and fishing in the summer. We have continued the tradition with their husbands and have now introduced our first grandchild to joys of Colorado.

Judith Wencel purchased this house in 2013

Why Judith Wencel chose Front Range

We’ve known for a long time that we’d love to have a place in Colorado to retreat to, either by ourselves or with friends or family, and after a trip to Estes Park in July of 2012 we decided the time and place was finally right.

We chose this property because of its truly awe-inspiring views from the house and deck, a wonderful little neighborhood, the access to the creek and walking path to town (which was damaged by the flood but will be repaired!), the perfect distance to town.

What makes this house unique

Many wonderful memories have been made in this home, most of them (for us) around great food and time with family and friends. We have been particularly delighted by the nearly daily visit of elk and deer, the view of the stars from our bed on clear nights and certainly the many options for hiking for all ability ranges. The number of options for activities of all kinds is particularly wonderful - there's something for everyone, including those who aren't able to participate in strenuous outdoor activities! It's a truly wonderful, peaceful spot for reading and relaxing, too.

Our blog/website has lots of photos of our visits and activities and we hope to create a Facebook community of folks who have also enjoyed visiting!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed the home very much--very comfortable and well furnished. It was just right for our family! We will certainly consider staying there again.

Thank you!

Excellent Estes Park Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My three sisters, our parents, and one niece enjoyed this gorgeous home and surroundings. We enjoyed watching the Elk on the golf course, or coming closer to the back yard in the very early morning or late evening hours. They liked to hang out in the front of the house in the morning as well. There were also several deer in the area and coyotes howling in the evening. Very peaceful and quiet.

Estes Park Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed being in Estes Park at this beautiful home. It is easy access to the downtown area and the local golf course. The house has a beautiful view of the golf course and the gorgeous mountains. It is only a short drive to nearby trails and the Rocky Mountain National Park.

The house is furnished with very nice, yet comfortable furniture and the kitchen is very well stocked. Wonderful appliances you don't often get in a rental. I would highly recommend this rental.

Comfy place to relax and recharge, out of the craziness

  • 5 of 5

This home is so very pleasant and is well thought out. Quiet, basically very private, though just minutes from the beautiful excitement of Estes Park if that's in the plan. I felt so at home immediately there. Gorgeous wood, ideal kitchen, plenty of space and wonderful beds and bathrooms, too... there's just nothing missing about this very classy place. Kudos to the owners!
