The house was clean, and a nice place to stay, how ever be aware of hidden charges!!

  • 3 of 5

The house was a convenient, clean, was a nice place to stay. The only issue we had was the smell of gas upon arrival to the home. The

village Properties Management was contacted with a quick response. They contacted the gas company and had them come out to the house. The gas company found a valve on the fireplace had not been closed tightly. The Village Properties Management was excellent in keeping us informed about the gas leak. However my biggest complaint from the Village Properties was the extra charges on my final confirmation.

Accident Forgiveness

Housekeeping Fee

Resort Fee

Deschutes County Room Tax 8%/Oregon State Room Tax 1%

The above items listed above increased out total bill to more than a nightly rate!!!

The biggest surprise was the Resort Fee for a 4 night stay. I contacted the propriety management and asked them about the resort fee. They stated it was it help maintain the walking paths?!! I tried to put the amount of the extra fee's, but they would not post it with the dollar amount. I have stayed at Sun River VRBO before dealing directly with home owners. I was never charged a Resort Fee, they also had a security deposit that was returned after we stayed in their home. Not automatically charging us non refundable accident forgiveness!!

Just be prepared your final bill will be higher than, the nightly rate advertised!!!!

Should have been better than it was!!!

The house is a nice house in a great location. That is where things end. Our stay will be remembered for all the things not right with the house. When we checked in the back bathroom toilet was clogged. Although the rental company was very prompt in coming out to fix it set the tone for all the additional problems to come next. The queen bed in the back bedroom was the wrong size for the frame. The first night our girls slept on a tilted bed. The next night when they got on the bed the mattress collapsed through the frame. We were able to fix it ourselves. The following night the girls wanted to sleep on the hide-a-bed in the playroom. When we pulled it out there was a note that said "Missing Parts - Do not Use". Our coffee maker had a broken lid. After dealing with a batch of coffee that spilled all over the place with grounds that clogged up the machine we were able to figure out how to avoid the problem. The gas range top had a fire at some point prior to our arrival. One burner knob was completely unusable. The other knobs all would trigger the sparker for all burners so there was a constant clicking noise (upon complaining the property management acknowledged they knew about the problem). The ice dispenser on the fridge would knock open the freezer door periodically. The television in the playroom does not work. We had a power outage during our stay. Although that is unavoidable the battery backups for the detectors either triggered constant beeping or the batteries were dead. The power outage also caused the pilot light to go out on the water heater. We woke up to no hot water on the day we checked out. There were additional problems, but these are just the ones I remember off the top of my head. The property management company's (Village Properties) was fairly minimal. They did bring us a new coffee maker (dropped off in a box and did not set it up). In general the property managers were very apologetic, but did not do much. They kept repeating that sometimes one family gets all the problems. That is a pathetic response!!! The property management company also said the manager would call me after our stay. That never happened. Given how many problems we had I think the problems existed for quite some time. Don't think everything fell apart the night before we checked in!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!
