|Minimum Stay||2 - 5 nights|
This open, spacious cabin-style home is right on the bike path, with just a quick walk to SHARC and the Village Mall. There's lots of room for your entire family (including the four-legged members) to spread out and relax, and with three bedrooms and a cozy loft, it's great for a group, or large families with kids. The large living room features vaulted ceilings and a floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace, perfect for snuggling up to at night! Outside, the patio area and porch swing offer a great place to enjoy your evening BBQ or early morning cup of coffee.
Spring/Fall 4 for 2 Special!
We stayed at this property for 5 nights in August and were extremely pleased with how comfortable and centrally-located the house was. You can't beat this house in terms of location - it's a very short walk to both the village and SHARC, but on a quiet dead-end cul-de-sac where we saw deer every night. Plus the house comes with 8 SHARC passes! The kitchen was well apportioned in terms of dishes, appliances, cookwear, outdoor grill, etc. but there was almost nothing in the way of spices, cooking oil, etc. - just salt & pepper. Most rental houses we've stayed at have massive stockpiles of spices, herbs, sugar, condiments, etc. from past visitors so we didn't expect to have to bring our own. We just bought a small quantities at the grocery in the village but, be warned, the prices there are 2-3x what you'll find at your neighborhood grocery store. The bathrooms were also well apportioned in terms of towels & soap, but no shampoo or conditioner. Remember to bring your own.
We were happy the property had bikes but they were all adult bikes, none for children, and were pretty low-end. We rented bikes for our kids in the village. The adult bikes at the property were fine for us because we just used them to get around - not to set any world records. It would have been nice if they had come with a bike lock. Since we weren't bringing our own bikes, we didn't think to bring our own bike lock. But we quickly realized that no one locks bikes in Sunriver. Wherever we went there were hundreds of bikes parked and almost none were locked.
The house has no AC but we opened all the windows at night, letting in all the cold nighttime desert air, and then closed all the windows & blinds during the day. The temperature of the house was never a problem.
I would give this property a 5-star rating were it not for 1 thing which I feel is my responsibility to mention - my daughter got lice from one of the twin beds. We took her to one of those lice treatment places and they said based on the lice lifecycle and the timing of when my daughter got it, there's no way she got it anywhere else other than this rental house. I let the property manager know. They seemed to take the issue seriously and said they would take action to remedy the situation. I have no reason to not believe them - they were very easy to work with and professional in all of my dealings with them. Friends' kids have gotten lice from Sunriver rental houses - must a common occurance.
We enjoyed our week at #6 Killdeer, it was everything that was stated. The SHARC passes were a hit, the location was so close to both the village and SHARC. There were four adult bikes, one tire was flat but there was a pump. Kitchen was well supplied with equipment, a few spices, flour, and sugar in the cupboard.
House sleeps eight, with a bath in the master the main bathroom was very popular. If the house had another bath it would be a five star!
We really enjoyed the openness of the house, closeness to activities and the swing on the porch!. We will definitely come back.
Wish we could of stayed longer. 8 swim passes and four bikes made for plenty of fun. Well equipped kitchen allowed for many inexpensive meals. Had a blast. Thanks.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home. It is very well equipped and comfortable. Two new TVs to watch the Thanksgiving football games on along with new(or newer) couches. The bathrooms and kitchen, while older, are very clean. The heater works very fast for those cold days, however, we were very pleased when we entered the home as the heat was already on along with a light and soft music! Which brings me to the next subject - the property management company, Village Properties. We've rented a number of vacation rentals before and never had such a great experience as we did with them. They were extremely fast to respond to my emails and calls, quickly answered my questions thoroughly and helpfully. They happily allowed us to check in early. They had discount SHARC tickets for purchase and placed them in the home for us so we didn't have to pick them up. My parents brought a dog and they had a letter addressed to him, welcoming him to the home! There was also a dog tag, treats, a tennis ball for him along with a dog bowl for him to use while there. We stopped by Village Properties and they were very friendly and kind, and gave us a free growler and certificate for free beer. This company goes out of their way to take care of their guest. Such a great experience!
I rented the house on Killdeer to house participants in a conference held in the Great Hall at Sunriver Resort. It was the perfect choice. We were able to check in early and allowing us to set up our exhibit table and not miss the conference sessions. When we checked in there was soft music playing and the heat was on. There are 3 bedrooms and a loft so we each had our own bedroom. It is located near the village and the lodge. It just couldn't have been a better choice for us.
