Comfortable, Gorgeous Views on Crystal Lake
This property was not quite as secluded as I expected as the main road was close and a little noisy. But with the nearly constant breezes from the beautiful lake we soon forgot about road noise. The little beach is delightful, and we had fires on three nights as we toasted marshmallows under the spectacular stars. The fishing was good too, but those tricky bass were hard to land! We released what we caught anyway. The first day there were fish spawning at the bank and ospreys kept up their continuous patrol, catching with much greater success than we had ourselves.
I was disappointed to find a note saying the washing machine did not work, but we made do.
My husband took the canoe out one day and the wind got the better of him...he couldn't get back to shore! A kind neighbor spotted his predicament and rescued him, bringing the canoe around by land.
Birdwatching was enjoyable with Baltimore oriole, yellow warbler, kingfisher, and red-winged blackbird to name a few that came right in front of the house. Hubby spotted a bald eagle as he waited for his rescuer. On the rocks, a chipmunk seemed to delight in playing hide and seek with our little dog!
Best of all...the loons! The pair didn't have a chick, but they came by at least once a day serenely floating, diving and calling. They gave us a real serenade one night after dark when they were quite close. It's one of nature's most ethereal and captivating sounds, and the main reason I came to Maine. Breathtaking!
This house is rustic and charming. Lots of comfortable seating for sitting around chatting, The kitchen is tight but perfectly adequate, and the enclosed porch with dining and seating areas was where we spent most of our time. That view just drew us out!
If you want luxury, look elsewhere. If you like homey, you'll like this. Just what a lake house should be.
We’re so happy you enjoyed your visit and that you were able to get the true Maine experience. The eagles, loons, ducks, and such are a mainstay for our lake.
Many, many years ago I had a boating “incident” in a motorboat which left me stranded across the lake and I experienced similar as your husband. Some good natured fisherman showed up and towed us home just for many smiles and thank yous.
We describe our property as “secluded” based on the privacy afforded due to the lack of active neighbors close by which can be unusual for homes on New England lakes.
We also were disappointed that the winter took a toll on our washing machine. It is now fixed and operating fine. Sorry we didn’t get that done in time for your stay!
We look forward to heading there for some rest, relaxation, and water fun ourselves next month.
Take care, Cathi
Great location! Loved the lake!
Great time, close to Camden!
Great vacation home
This house is situated on quiet Seven Tree pond and it is very clean and well maintained, with a huge grass yard in front and the water in the back. A nice enclosed deck gives a great view of the water and of the eagles diving down to catch fish. The interior was very clean and easily accommodated the ten relatives that we had over for the day. Just about everything that you have in your own home could be found here. The owners were a pleasure to deal with and we would definitely return and we would recommend this location to others.
