SKI IN/SKI OUT - Don't waste your time walking!!! You won't find a better place to get away from it all. Ski home for lunch, sleep in and still make first tracks. No more standing in line for the bus, or sitting in traffic to get in and out of Northstar! A few minute walk or shuttle bus ride to the Village or Rec Center takes you to three hot tubs, a lap pool, video games, movie theater, you name it, you can enjoy it right here. Grab your groceries on the way in to town - then settle in for a true vacation. Don't worry about chaining up before and after your ski day. If the weather changes, ski home at lunch and change your jacket!
This is also the perfect place to serve as a platform to head out to all of your activities, or, if you just want a quiet relaxing couple of days in the mountains, this unit is for you. Stroll about the many shops, and find activities for the kids.
If we can make it work with the cleaning crew, we are happy to make accommodations for an early check in, or late check out - sleep in, or head out for a last day of fun - come early, and stay late - free of charge. Why waste your entire last day traveling?
This one bedroom, one bath has a queen size bed, and a couch with a queen size pull-out. The condo is fully furnished with all the amenities you could need. The condo is on the ski slope so if there is snow, no walking at all. Park the car, bring in the groceries, and you are set for the duration! If you just want to go to the village to enjoy the sights, and do not want to walk, call for the shuttle bus, and they will whisk you down to the village, Rec center, or anywhere in Northstar - with or without skis or snow toys.
In winter, no carrying your skis, or your kids skis, or your kids, across the village. No getting on and off buses, no walking across parking lots, no sitting in line as you drive into the resort. At the end of the day, no repeating the above. Ski home for lunch, or have a leisurely morning, and still make the first tracks in the snow! (Snow-pack dependent)
This is an upstairs unit, so no noise from the neighbors above you! The kitchen is stocked with minor items such as salt, pepper, seasonings, etc, pots, pans, utensils, fondue pots, coffee pot, tea kettle (for that all important hot cocoa), keurig and a few K-cups to start you off, toaster, microwave, all of which are available for your use. This is one of the few units with a natural gas bbq on the deck. Its not giant, but feel free to cook up some hot dogs for lunch, bbq up a few steaks or chicken breasts for dinner. If you don't want to lift a finger, take the short walk to the village for a wonderful dining experience. If you do not feel like walking, simply call the shuttle bus, and they will pick you up and drop you wherever you want to go at Northstar. Enjoy access to the Northstar recreation center ($2/guest). During the winter, you can enjoy the sauna, hot tub, lap pool, exercise room and game room. After you take a short rest from skiing, head down to the village and try your hand at ice skating or sitting by a cozy fire and have a warm drink while spending time with old friends, or make new ones. If you just cant get away from work, feel free to use the free internet. There are also DVDs, Netflix, Roku, board games, and a few books, if you want to spend some time inside.
For longer stays (or mishaps) there is a full size washer and dryer on the same level as the unit. There is no charge for the use of the washer and dryer.
There is a small bin with some snow boots, kids gloves, snow toys (Arctic Shields, snow ball makers, snow ball throwers) that folks are welcome to use, as long as the guests take care of them!
This is a non-smoking unit - no smoking of any type. Not 420 friendly.
If this is a special occasion, such as engagement, honeymoon, anniversary, birthday, let us know, and if you have any special requests, we can try work out your requests for flowers, chilled champagne, box of chocolates, new pair of skis, Mountain Bike, etc, with our assistant (payment would go to her).
**** We support our US Military. In honor of our USAF parents, we are proud to give a 10% discount for active duty and retired military members, as well as documented Wounded Warriors. Our parents bought this Unit when it was nothing but wooden stakes in the ground, in the early 70's. We became ski fanatics, and although we traveled up and down I-80 for many years, we ended up participating in competitive ski racing, and attending Truckee High School. Go Wolverines! We have scoured every inch of Northstar (and maybe drove Northstar Security bananas a time or two). Now us kids (who all have grey hair) are all grown up, and want to keep it in the family. However, we all have jobs and busy lives - so we don't get up as often as we would like. We thought we would try VRBO as a way to offset some of the costs. With a little help from an awesome friend who does the cleaning, we are hoping to make it work - as we know mom would want it to stay in the family. We also want other young families to have the same opportunity to build solid family connections and a lifetime of memories. A small cozy condo helps foster that togetherness. We hope you gain the memories and family bonds that were created when we were kids, and still go on when our families visit as well.
In memory of our parents, ask about a 10% discount for active duty and retired military PRIOR TO BOOKING.
Kristin Knutson purchased this condo in 1972
The location of this particular unit is paramount. It is right on the ski slope - so when there is snow, you click into your skiis and ski down to the lift. On the way home, slip in through the trees, and ski right up to the pathway 10 feet from the door! No trudging across parking lots or streets. No walking down paths, no nothing! Northstar maintains their snowpack impeccably. You wont find better groomed snow anywhere. It is an upstairs unit... you don't have to hear the noise of the people above you all night. Additionally, this unit has a balcony - and we have put a natural gas BBQ out there. The Unit still has a fire place - real wood, with a little natural gas to help out if you are not a fire builder.
Ski in, ski out - no carrying your skis, or your kids!
A true ski in/out condo! We had a great trip to Northstar and a fabulous condo meeting our every need. The kitchen had everything we needed for quick meals and a warm fireplace to return to after a day of skiing. We loved sitting in the living room and watching the ski lift race by with excited skiers. The detailed instructions are welcoming and any question we had, was answered in the provided information packet. I love organized homeowners!
The owner is wonderful and responds to all communications quickly. I highly recommend this condo and owner!
Property was perfect for our needs and the owner was very accommodating!
My family and I just had a one night stay up at Tahoe for a quick, last minute get away. We were fortunate enough to find this great place. It was super clean, had everything we needed, an awesome location and a PHENOMENAL owner! The owner was incredibly accommodating making our short stay much longer with a super early check in and super late check out. She gave us all kinds of tips on beaches, places to stop and general helps within minutes of texts. One of the best renting experiences we've had because of her! Thank you so much K.K.!!!!!
There were 4 of us staying in the condo. It is a really nice place in the heart of North Star village, but i would say it is a little bit small for 4 people. The place was clean, communications with the owner outstanding. We even found a bottle of champaigne waiting for us. On the down side - the air flow inside almost doesn't exist which made it less pleasant to stay in summer.
Check-in was very accommodating, as I was simply emailed instructions on how to enter, housing instructions, and Northstar guidelines and activities. Upon arrival, the door code worked on the first attempt, and the inside was just as the pictures advertised. While there was space for 4 (pull-out couch), we only needed the bed. However, the only recommendation for change would be a more comfortable mattress. Now, I'm not a picky sleeper and have slept on many a couch and floor. But when it comes to actually being able to rest my tired body on a bed, it's nice when there is a little bit of firmness/body to it. Also, bring your own pillow if you are wanting one with the same firmness/body.
There were plenty of towels, linens, etc. and the kitchen had all the utensils, and then some, that we could ever need! Netflix was such a cool option to have, although we only watched cable the little time we spent there.
And the host was very prompt to reply to a request I had Saturday evening. A friend came into town and had no place to stay, and I sent the host a text and had an almost immediate reply. I vouched for my friend, and the host had no qualms about an extra person, seeing as how we had the room for him anyways.
I would highly recommend this property for the location and the price! Even though we didn't have time to check out all the amenities, they were outline in the directions and within a very short, short walking distance. Great location if you are looking for a short drive to Truckee and/or Tahoe Vista area.
The host even left us a little special something in the fridge for our weekend getaway.
We had a wonderful long weekend at this apartment. We were a family of four and the apartment fit us all easily. It had everything we needed for a great summer vacation, and being so close to the village and the swimming pool was a huge bonus. The kids had a great time, and I would think it would also be great for winter, as it looks like you can ski down to the lift. We would happily stay here again.
