About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 4 , bike in bike out!

Romantic getaway, Tough Mudder, or just a weekend with your young family, away from the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area!

*** We have the winter still blocked out to give us time to set our dates first - if you are looking for winter fun, please check back later!***

This is the perfect place to serve as a platform to head out to all of your activities, or, if you just want a quiet relaxing couple of days in the mountains, this unit is for you. Stroll about the many shops, and find activities for the kids.

If there are no renters before or after you, and we can make it work with the cleaning crew, we are happy to make accommodations for an early check in, or late check out - sleep in, or head out for a last day of fun - come early, and stay late - free of charge. Why waste your entire last day traveling?

This one bedroom, one bath has a queen size bed, and a couch with a queen size pull-out. The condo is fully furnished with all the amenities you could need. Bring the groceries and you don't have to go back to town till you are headed home. If you don't want to cook, stroll down to the Village for scrumptious meals.

Once summer has hit, Northstar has world class golf and mountain biking - it doesn't get any better than this! This is an upstairs unit, so no noise from the neighbors above you! The kitchen is stocked with minor items such as salt, pepper, seasonings, etc, pots, pans, utensils, fondue pots, coffee pot, tea kettle (for that all important hot cocoa), keurig, toaster, microwave, all of which are available for your use. This is one of the few units with a natural gas bbq on the deck. Its not giant, but feel free to cook up some hot dogs for lunch, bbq up a few steaks or chicken breasts for dinner. If you don't want to lift a finger, take the short walk to the village for a wonderful dining experience. If you do not feel like walking, simply call the shuttle bus, and they will pick you up and drop you wherever you want to go at Northstar. Enjoy access to the Northstar recreation center ($2/guest). Enjoy the sauna, hot tubs, lap pool, pool, exercise room, tennis courts, volleyball, basketball court, and game room. After you take a short rest from biking, head down to the village and try your hand at roller skating or having a cold drink while spending time with old friends, or making new ones. If you just cant get away from work, feel free to use the free internet. There are also DVDs, Netflix, Roku, board games, and a few books, if you want to spend some time inside.

For longer stays (or mishaps) there is a full size washer and dryer on the same level as the unit. There is no charge for the use of the washer and dryer.

There is a small bin with some snow boots, kids gloves, snow toys (Arctic Shields, snow ball makers, snow ball throwers) that folks are welcome to use, as long as the guests take care of them!

This is a non-smoking unit - no smoking of any type. Not 420 friendly.

If this is a special occasion, such as engagement, honeymoon, anniversary, birthday, let us know, and if you have any special requests, we can try work out your requests for flowers, chilled champagne, box of chocolates, new pair of skis, Mountain Bike, etc, with our assistant (payment would go to her).

About Kristin Knutson

Our parents bought this Unit when it was nothing but wooden stakes in the ground, in the early 70's. We became ski fanatics, and although we traveled up and down I-80 for many years, we ended up participating in competitive ski racing, and attending Truckee High School. Go Wolverines! We have scoured every inch of Northstar (and maybe drove Northstar Security bananas a time or two). Now us kids (who all have grey hair) are all grown up, and want to keep it in the family. However, we all have jobs and busy lives - so we don't get up as often as we would like. We thought we would try VRBO as a way to offset some of the costs. With a little help from an awesome friend who does the cleaning, we are hoping to make it work - as we know mom would want it to stay in the family. We also want other young families to have the same opportunity to build solid family connections and a lifetime of memories. A small cozy condo helps foster that togetherness. We hope you gain the memories and family bonds that were created when we were kids, and still go on when our families visit as well.

In memory of our parents, ask about a 10% discount for active duty and retired military PRIOR TO BOOKING.

Why Kristin Knutson chose Lake Tahoe North Shore CA

The location of this particular unit is paramount. It is right on the ski slope - so when there is snow, you click into your skiis and ski down to the lift. On the way home, slip in through the trees, and ski right up to the pathway 10 feet from the door! No trudging across parking lots or streets. No walking down paths, no nothing! Northstar maintains their snowpack impeccably. You wont find better groomed snow anywhere. It is an upstairs unit... you don't have to hear the noise of the people above you all night. Additionally, this unit has a balcony - and we have put a natural gas BBQ out there. The Unit still has a fire place - real wood, with a little natural gas to help out if you are not a fire builder.

What makes this condo unique

Ski in, ski out - no carrying your skis, or your kids!

Fun Summer getaway

  • 5 of 5

The location of this condo was great. Nice little hike down to the village. The bed was comfortable and our kids seemed to like the pull out couch. We utilized the rec center and pool which was amazing.

Just a few notes, observations: So many items in the condo reminded us of the 80's which was fun. The large eccentric chandelier was something to behold, as well as the large tapestry. The bathtub/shower is set high so when you step out be very careful. My son feel into the toilet getting out of the shower. If you are bringing your own food, be aware there is not a pantry for dried goods, cans, etc. We kept our food in a large tub. Bring your own plastic spatula...we could not find one for eggs and other items we made on our non-stick pan. We appreciated the long wall of pegs to hang our hats and backpacks, that helped keep things off the floor. There were some games the kids enjoyed. The surrounding were quiet as well which was lovely.

Clean and functional

  • 5 of 5

The place was exactly as advertised and was great for my wife and me. It's walking distance from the Village and Northstar Sports. Check-in and check-out were as simple as can be and Kristin has been very timely with any question we had.

Overall it met all our needs.

  • 5 of 5

This condo is perfectly located. We saved lots of money by skiing to the condo every day to have our lunch. In the evening, we walked to the village for dinner and took the shuttle back to condo (line #4 below where the shuttles pick up from village). Very convenient and no complaints.

Great place to stay at Northstar

  • 5 of 5

My son and I rented this place for a weekend ski trip. Cozy, comfortable, incredibly convenient to the slopes (if you don't mind climbing through a little snow to get from the run to the condo).

Kristin, the owner, is very friendly and provides a very extensive and helpful set of instructions for the condo. We made a mistake about the checkout time and she allowed us to stay several hours longer, which was great. If I needed to find something to criticize, it would just be that the sidewalk from the parking lot down the steps to the condo building was very icy. But there has been a lot of snow (and then rain and melting snow) this winter in Tahoe, so this may not be a regular occurence.

Excellent value- great for family ski weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely ski weekend at this Ski Trails condo - it's exactly as advertised and was perfect for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 young kids - who don't mind sharing a bed). With the snow this year, it was very easy to ski-in/ski-out, come home for lunch, etc. Was also perfectly located - easy access to the Village, but away from the noise. We will definitely look to book here again if we are able to squeeze in a few more weekends this season. Highly recommend. Marianne
