Very Nice.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in Flagstaff. McKenzie helped with everything from the TV remote

to suggestions for dinner. Roof top deck was a nice addition to the tastefully decorated

townhome. Would highly recommend staying here.

Escaped the Heat

  • 5 of 5

The SkyDeck was the perfect spot to get out of the summer heat in Phoenix. We enjoyed the central location and the ability to walk into town for restaurants, coffee, drinks, etc. Plus the proximity to Whole Foods was great as well. The kids loved the roof top deck and watching movies outside. The fire pit was great for the adults. Mackenzie was extremely helpful and answered any question we had before and during our stay. She even went out of her way to assist us after we left something behind after our stay. All in all a great place to stay in Flagstaff!

Nice property, very uncomfortable experience with host.

  • 2 of 5

This property is as nice in person as it looks in pictures. However, after such an unusual, uncomfortable, experience with Mackenzie I wouldn't return.

I'll start by saying I've never had anything but positive experiences with HomeAway, VRBO, etc. Unfortunately, this was particularly disappointing.

First and foremost, I admittedly made a mistake our first day there by allowing friends of ours that were picking us up from the property to bring their dog inside with them. We immediately took them upstairs to the deck to show them the great views and how wonderful we thought it was and then left - they were there 20 mins at most. Since the pet policy didn't apply to us, I really hadn't thought twice about it and made an honest mistake. Shortly after leaving I got a call from Mackenzie asking if we had brought a dog with us because she lives next door and saw it come or go. I apologized more than once, reassured her that it wasn't our dog and that it wouldn't happen again.

The following day we were having some family and friends over to BBQ - which I got prior permission for well before our stay. We were all in town for my sister's very SMALL wedding and thought the sky deck that was so heavily advertised would be a great gathering spot one evening. I informed Mackenzie that we were there for my sister's wedding and that we would also be gone by 8:30pm for additional wedding festivities. She said no problem. However, the day of the BBQ I put a small 8x10 welcome sign on the front porch and soon after received another phone call from Mackenzie asking more questions about our gathering. From then on I had a pit in my stomach and felt like our every move was being watched. It was intrusive and extremely uncomfortable. We proceeded with our BBQ (while she and her guests coincidentally were hanging out on their conjoining patio the entire time), we were a very mellow group and as promised, moved on to our next activity around 8:30pm.

The next day I was contacted by her again asking us to move the chairs we had brought out to the deck back inside or if we weren't home she'd "pop over and move them". Again, I literally felt like we were being watched. Which in reality we were if she saw the chairs outside.

We are extremely tidy, quiet, guests. I take pride in always leaving places exactly as we found them and Mackenzie's property was no exception. Unfortunately we never felt fully comfortable there or that we were given a fair chance.

Owner's Response: Hi there potential guest! If you're like me I read the bad reviews first and then I expand from there. The reality is that this guest just broke the rules and misled me to the size and scope of their ‘BBQ’. I agreed to a small family BBQ but instead they had planned a rehearsal dinner on our rooftop with about 30 people. Never once leading up to this guest’s stay were the words rehearsal dinner uttered when referring to this ‘BBQ’ until I walked by our neighboring residence and saw a sign stating they were having one. I have no idea if our insurance covers events and always say no to rehearsal dinner requests, but at this point there was not much I could do. They also had a dog in the house and left our indoor leather barstools out to face the elements during monsoon season. I called them to address these issues to protect the integrity of the home for future guests. Apparently, they took issue with me addressing this during their stay and preferred that we overlooked this. I did not withhold any of their refundable deposit for the event or the dog and two phone calls and a text were about the extent of our interaction with this guest. All in all, it was a pretty mild inconvenience for a guest that ignored our contract twice (a party and a pet). However, I want to assure you I have been nothing but respectful to our beloved guests. This is apparent with every other review which I encourage you to read. I also manage properties full time for other homeowners in town and I have never had this said about me. We do live next door currently and have for the last two years. Guests frequently comment to the speed of our responsiveness and generally enjoy us being so readily available (as stated in our reviews). However, we plan on moving by the end of the year so I would not count on us being next door if you have future travel. In addition, all my other homeowners would expect me to address this situation the same way otherwise why would they hire me? Just know that if you do stay with us and you have a sign in front of the house for a rehearsal dinner that wasn't discussed, someone brings a dog that wasn't discussed, and you leave indoor leather furniture outside then you may expect a friendly phone call to ask for clarification.

Beautiful home, great location!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here with all the amenities of home. The rooftop deck was amazing; we enjoyed our happy hours up there and our evenings stargazing. The beds were very comfortable and it was great to have a well-stocked kitchen. The location is perfect for shopping, pubs and restaurants, which are abundant. And Mackenzie was quick to respond to all of our questions. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Flagstaff.

Great Apartment in central Flagstaff

  • 5 of 5

We chose Flagstaff as our base for visiting the Grand Canyon (1.5 hr.), the Meteor Crater near Winslow and the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert near Holbrook. Perfect location. This apartment is a 5 min walk to the old town and 1 block from a center that includes a Whole Foods, shops and assorted restaurants including a Wildflower Bread Company ( great soups, salads and sandwiches). Mackenzie was excellent to work with -- quick responses to all my emails and very responsive to all my questions. The apartment is on 3 floors with the top being the rooftop deck. Unfortunately for us the weather was very cold in April and we were not able to use the deck-- it is so lovely and well appointed we would have loved an evening on it. However temperatures in the upper 20's kept us inside. Not to worry, the living area of the apartment has comfy sofa and chairs that we curled up in at the end of the day. Our beds were comfortable, the apartment clean and surprisingly quiet for being on a main road. If you are visiting Flagstaff for the first time be sure to stop at the Visitor's Center in the train depot on Rt.66-- very helpful staff and lots of great information. To visit the Grand Canyon we booked a tour with All-Star Grand Canyon Tours--- they are an excellent group to tour with. Many thanks to Mackenzie for the rental of her great apartment ( and the quick refund of our security deposit!)
