Romantic, serene and peaceful, with the most beautiful views on the island, Villa Indochine is a dream holiday destination. Nestled among tropical gardens on a hillside overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the many islands of the BVIs, St John and Thatch Cay, it is the perfect place to relax and unwind.
The home is beautifully decorated with antiques and original artwork, and a glamorous Far-Eastern aesthetic that gives the house its name. Centered around a large loggia and a smaller courtyard, both with their own stunning gardens, there is a large living room with six sets of French doors to let in the Caribbean breezes, three en-suite bedrooms (one with a king-sized bed, two with queen-sized beds), grand chef’s kitchen and charming dining-room, two glass-paned walls of which fold back to open it to the gardens of the loggia and courtyard. You may encounter the occasional hummingbird on its way from one to the other!
On a lower level is another en-suite bedroom with a king-sized bed, and an exercise/TV room with a convertible queen-sized sofa if needed. These rooms are decorated in the rich colors of the Caribbean, and are spacious and welcoming.
All the bedrooms have screened French doors leading to outdoor terraces, ceiling fans and ample closet space. The master bathroom has the additional attraction of an outdoor bamboo-screened shower.
Coral stone steps lead down to the pool terrace where you can sit in the shade of the magnificent old-growth turpentine tree, or lounge on the terrace between the sunlit pool and the stunning blue waters of the Caribbean. Follow the garden path up the hillside to the “meditation” pavilion for a view that will take your breath away!
Indochine is perfectly situated to enjoy the many beautiful beaches of St Thomas, or to take the ferry to St John or Tortola. St Thomas’s renowned restaurants are all in easy reach, offering everything from casual beach-side dining to an elegant gourmet experience. Charlotte Amalie is a thriving water-front town with delightful beckoning alleyways (locally know as ‘gades’) that lead to numerous art-galleries, high-end jewelry and clothing stores, bars, cafes and restaurants. The Pistarckle Theater, our local multi-plex cinema and the remarkable Reichhold concert venue offer further entertainment. But, be warned, you may find you never want to leave the comfort and romance of Indochine Villa!
All interior rooms can be selectively closed off and air-conditioned.
The hot tub (no jets) & the pool can be heated, if that is your preference. As electricity in the USVI is very expensive we regrettably have to implement a surcharge, but hopefully you will discover that they are not necessary to your comfort and enjoyment.
Provisioning and chef or baby-sitting services can also be arranged separately. As can day sails/charters or an array of water-sports at local venues.
The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, cookware, dinnerware etc and has an 8-burner, double-oven professional Vulcan stove.
There is a table-tennis table on one of the terraces, and the house is well-stocked with videos and docking stations for your iPhone or MP3 players.
You will be met at the airport by the estate manager, Chloe, who will introduce you to the villa and answer any questions that may arise during your stay. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and champagne will be ready to welcome you, and it will be our pleasure to provide a continental breakfast on your first morning in paradise!
A long-term tenant lives in a discrete apartment below the house. Your paths will only cross in the driveway, if at all.
