About Lynn Connell

I'm an artist, entrepreneur, producer, organizer and co- founder of Majengo Children's Home in Tanzania, and an Artist Retreat in Dunedin, a few hours north of Toronto born, living on the first floor of the home you will love. I love yoga, reading, walking (the Camino in 2016!), cooking, traveling...have been in the city all my life. I enjoy meeting people from around the world..and welcoming them into my home..Happy to draw easy maps, and direct you, if that is what you would like..Private, and hospitable...whatever works best!

Lynn Connell purchased this apartment in 1990

Why Lynn Connell chose Toronto

I bought this property for its location, right in the heart of downtown Toronto, steps from the best restaurants, cafes, bookstores, galleries..Yorkville. Newly renovated and maintained beautifully...I love the beauty and quiet of my home, in spite of its being a few houses south of Bloor...incredible!

What makes this apartment unique

I love the big evergreen tree outside the 2nd floor living room window, especially in the winter, laden with snow. The back balcony is gorgeous in summer, facing west, with a great view of the sun setting, quiet, homey, comfy and safe…steps away from Bloor Street…with everything I need...

Best place in Toronto

  • 5 of 5

The owner Lynn was so helpful, lovely and caring!!! She went to the market prior to our arrival and bought us groceries! The home is very very clean comfortable quiet and fully equipped!

The location is central- very close to subway and tons of healthy, organic shopping! 10 minute walk to outdoor market and just super fun to be there!!!

Really felt like a blessed local staying here!!! Thanks Lynn!!!

Great home, great location

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in Lynn's home very much. It is well situated- very easy walking distance to groceries, shops, restaurants and subway. The home itself is comfortable and Lynn's great artwork adds to the feel of it as a home rather than a hotel! Lynn was very helpful and accommodating.

I would not recommend this home for anyone with mobility issues as two sets of steep stairs would be difficult. For us it was great and we would definitely rent there again!

Great Location in Toronto!

  • 5 of 5

This property is in a wonderful central location, close to all amenities and many good restaurants. The beds and linens are very comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and I liked the cozy sitting room to relax at the end of a busy day. I stayed with my two daughters (10 and 12) and they loved it - especially the upstairs bedroom which they thought was so cool! Lynn was an excellent host, and gave us a warm welcome. I would highly recommend this property for families - it was perfect for us.

Great stay in the Annex! Location, food and charm, all in one!

  • 5 of 5

We just came back from a 5 nights stay at Lynn's apartment in the Annex. The space is exactly as shown in the photos on the site. It's a very cosy and well equipped apartment consisting of 2 stories of a Victorian house and it is charming. Lynn's paintings adorn most of the walls. The large deck is very pleasant. Lynn is a gracious host and she is really there if you need her. When we told her that a tree branch touching the roof was causing a slight noise in one of the bedrooms, she immediately hired a worker who cut the culprit branch the next afternoon! The location of this apartment could not be better. The nearest subway station, Spadina, is at the intersection of lines 1 and 2 so you can access most of Toronto from there. We took the subway East to the Ed Mirvish Theatre for a Broadway musical , West to High Park, a large park with many hiking trails, a lake and a mini-zoo and East and North to visit people in North York.

We walked to Casa Loma, to the Art Gallery of Ontario and to Chinatown. There are 2 pubs nearby: the Paupers' Pub on Bloor St and The Harbord House on Harbord Street. Both good bets. The Hardbord House offers a roast beef dinner on Sunday nights complete with Yorkshire pudding. We also ate dinner at the Thai restaurant just around the corner from the apartment on Bloor St. Delicious! There is a good bakery across the street on Bloor St and a large grocery store open 24 hours very close by. We also walked to an all-day dim sum place on the East side of Spadina Ave, just before Dundas St.

So, all in all, we ate our way through the neighborhood, visited tourist sites, museums and parks and went to a theatre easily from this location. We would definitely stay there on our next trip to Toronto.

Fabulous and cozy close to it all

  • 5 of 5

Just home from our second stay at this marvelous gem tucked in the trees right off Bloor. Quiet, charming and comfortable! Lynn is a great hostess and we had everything we needed for our 5 night stay. The bedrooms are quiet and beds are great. Kitchen fully equipped with all you need to cook and loads of close by restaurants, museums, shopping and close to subway for further afield exploration. When I accidentally blew a breaker Lynn had it fixed pronto so we could have the fireplace on for a chilly fall evening. We also enjoyed drinking wine on the back deck. Overall this eclectic little hideaway is the perfect choice for those who aren't interested in a generic hotel room on a sea of concrete. Loved it!
