Guestbook comments from the manager

This was an amazing cabin at a prime location. It had been recently upgraded and was very clean. I loved to charm and it felt so secluded even though it was close to town and all the amenities in McCall. The Manager was accommodating and when we had trouble starting the pellet stove she came right over to help. I will definitely be coming back!

Just add People for Magical Memories

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cabin, peaceful and perfect setting, everything you need for memory making--just add people. We loved the Back Cabin. We spent a lot of time on the lake and enjoyed taking the canoe and paddleboards down to launch just steps away from the cabin. Nearby beautiful running trails led to a lake and a stunning overlook. The kitchen table easily sat our 9 people for meals and games. It was nice to have a big fridge. We even enjoyed playing the piano. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked with equipment and utensils, and the deer that strolled by while we were doing dishes was lovely! The milkshake maker was fun and the porch really a masterpiece. You did a great job of creating an updated modern yet rustic, secluded yet accessible, spacious yet cozy cabin. We would definitely return to The Back Cabin to make more memories.

Paragraph just for the owners and managers--printed only as you desire:

Just FYI--when we arrived the door was unlocked. We finally figured out how to lock it the day we left. Luckily the neighborhood is safe. When we arrived the place was clean but the floor needed moping (we had a crawling baby). We just used a rag as we couldn't find a mop. The kitchen had most everything we needed although we could have used some kitchen towels and dish rags. We loved the milkshake machine and the clever hooks in the mudroom area. Thank you for supplying washing machine soap as we needed to wash the tablecloth. Thank you for having plenty of dishes, serving bowls, utensils, and pans. The alarm went off for water and we had no idea how to turn it off. Luckily my daughter guessed the code. The last night we also had an alarm in the main floor bedroom going off about every two minutes. I'm thinking that may just be needing a new battery. We took the batteries out so we could sleep. Fix as needed. Anyway, just a few little things. Overall an incredible experience, completely comfortable, wonderful neighbors, charming town, delightful family vacation. THANK YOU!!!

Very nice and peaceful

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this cabin in early September. The cabin was very well maintained and very clean. There were plenty of linens and bedding. The cabin was uniquely decorated with an antique motif. Our favorite room (and kids will love) was in the loft and had three beds built into the wall and 2 pullout beds. There were two other rooms, with a king and queen bed so enough for a large group. The bathrooms were very nice and clean. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here, however a few issues that could be addressed in the future. While we enjoyed the place, there were alot of breakable items around (antiques). Not ideal for those with very young children! There were knives and glass dishes placed on an open bottom shelf in the kitchen and also lower drawers in kitchen had several knives stored in them. We had to remove so kids wouldn't get them. There seemed to be several old antique rusty utensils in every drawer. Not sure if they were to be used or just for looks.

Better instructions/directions on how to use things would have been beneficial. Stereo system was hooked up to the TV. While there were instructions to get stereo to work if playing music could not get sound on TV to work. The thermostat did not have any directions on how to use. We couldn't figure out how turn off the preset temp so it was quite chilly in the mornings. I had to look up the thermostat manual online to figure out how to disable presets and turn up heat! Clear instructions to call management if problems (don’t email). The french doors to the back porch were difficult to lock with minimal instruction "lift handle to lock." That didn't work. Directions on how to get to the canoe and to the "private" beach although we think we found it. Also, the tree house, while very cool, had a bunch of large pieces of wood stored in it so that we could barely open the door to go in. The stairs up to the tree house could use a railing (treacherous for little ones and elderly!)

Overall, very peaceful and quiet in a beautiful setting about 10 minute drive from town. No big complaints just suggestions. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks!
