About Debbie Bartlett

Betty & Richard Bartlett created this magical place 25 years ago when they retired. They put together 550 acres of unspoiled woods with a family home and 2 comfortable cabins. Exeter has always been a family gathering place and we have had numerous family holidays, get-to-gethers and two weddings here. The younger generation of our family spent their childhood exploring the woods and streams, watching wildlife, eating apples and blueberries from the trees, sledding, etc. Stewardship of this property has passed to the adult children and we feel a sincere desire to share this beautiful, 'good for the soul' place with others who will enjoy it. Debbie Bartlett is the current resident and manager of Exeter Nature Cabins and environs. She is shown in the picture with her brother, Chris.

Debbie Bartlett purchased this cabin in 1995

Why Debbie Bartlett chose Kennebec Valley (Central Maine)

Our family has enjoyed this property for years, we are now opening it up to the public to enjoy.

Picturesque, Peaceful, Relaxing Space!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned home after spending 4 nights in the Main Cabin with our 2 dogs and 6 1/2 year old son (when not at his grandparents). Debbie is a super sweet host. The cabin was very spacious, more space then we needed probably but it didn't matter. It would definitely be a great space for family/friend gatherings. We were able to entertain our parents each night with cookout, badminton and fun! The view from the deck was just so breathtaking. Enjoyed sitting out with coffee every morning while the dogs played in the spacious yard. Enjoyed daily walks on the trails. Visited the many lakes near by and enjoyed swimming and even fit in some horseback riding at nearby stables. Everyone we came in contact with, was so friendly. If you are looking for a place to just get away from it all and unplug and rejuvenate, I highly recommend Exeter Nature Cabins. You won't be disappointed. Thank you Debbie for being an amazing Host!! Looking forward to coming back next year. May bring more folks with us next time... The Walkers..

Loved the Nature Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We loved our short trip to the Nature Cabin. We were greeted by the friendly owner and showed all the trails to wander and games to play for my kids.We were pleased to find that the cabin had everything we needed there and plenty of beds. If we ever take another trip back to Maine well defenitely try to stay at the Nature Cabin for a good central location.

Quiet, cozy, and lots of area to explore!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 had a great time at this cabin for 3 nights! The kitchen had everything we needed for simple meals. It was in the 70s during the days and 50s/60s in the nights and we were comfortable with the windows open and the ceiling fan going. The tall fireplace is quite impressive and very cozy with a roaring fire while we played games, did a jigsaw puzzle and watched a movie on our own DVD player. (There is no TV there, which is great, for a getaway!)

Debbie is a wonderful host! She has marked out different trails on their large property. We really enjoyed exploring the trails and saw grouse, hawks, and deer. At night, we loved star gazing and watching the flickering fireflies! It was also a treat to have a couple of thunderstorms come through and watch the dramatic changes in the sky.

Our daughters particularly LOVED the loft! They enjoyed hanging out up there while napping/reading/looking at their phones (The wifi is good, but we limited the time they could be on it.) and staying in their pjs.

The cabin was a great place to come home to after we hiked some of beautiful Baxter State park (2 hours away).

It sounds simple, but we also enjoyed washing/drying dishes together because there is no dishwasher. We had a great experience! Thanks Debbie!

The cabin was lovely.

  • 4 of 5

Debbie, the owner couldn't have been nice or more accommodating! The cabin was super comfortable but a little dated. The property is beautiful that the owners have spent much time in creating and marking trails so you can't get lost. I was hoping for some REAL hiking, this was more like walking a trail in the woods. But it beautiful none the less.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time on Friday night we sat by the amazing fireplace and drink wine and Watch the full moon rise . On Saturday we woke up to deer in the front yard . I made an amazing breakfast and a fully equipped kitchen . And then we hit the trails for snowshoeing . We had a fire in the fire pit we roasted hotdogs and marshmallows . And then I went sliding . On Saturday evening we played games and stayed warm by the fireplace. It was an amazing winter getaway that's only 20 minutes from my house but felt like I was in another world .

Just recently stayed at the Exeter Nature Cabins and I couldn't be any more pleased! There was plenty of wildlife and trails right outside your door! It was the perfect weekend and it was everything I hoped for! Debbie was super nice and very helpful! And the cabin itself was beautiful and equipped with everything I needed! I CAN'T wait to come back!
