About Debbie Bartlett

Betty & Richard Bartlett created this magical place 25 years ago when they retired. They put together 550 acres of unspoiled woods with a family home and 2 comfortable cabins. Exeter has always been a family gathering place and we have had numerous family holidays, get-to-gethers and two weddings here. The younger generation of our family spent their childhood exploring the woods and streams, watching wildlife, eating apples and blueberries from the trees, sledding, etc. Stewardship of this property has passed to the adult children and we feel a sincere desire to share this beautiful, 'good for the soul' place with others who will enjoy it. Debbie Bartlett is the current resident and manager of Exeter Nature Cabins and environs. She is shown in the picture with her brother, Chris.

Debbie Bartlett purchased this cabin in 1995

Why Debbie Bartlett chose Kennebec Valley (Central Maine)

Our family has enjoyed this property for years, we are now opening it up to the public to enjoy.

We had a wonderful time on Friday night we sat by the amazing fireplace and drink wine and Watch the full moon rise . On Saturday we woke up to deer in the front yard . I made an amazing breakfast and a fully equipped kitchen . And then we hit the trails for snowshoeing . We had a fire in the fire pit we roasted hotdogs and marshmallows . And then I went sliding . On Saturday evening we played games and stayed warm by the fireplace. It was an amazing winter getaway that's only 20 minutes from my house but felt like I was in another world .

Just recently stayed at the Exeter Nature Cabins and I couldn't be any more pleased! There was plenty of wildlife and trails right outside your door! It was the perfect weekend and it was everything I hoped for! Debbie was super nice and very helpful! And the cabin itself was beautiful and equipped with everything I needed! I CAN'T wait to come back!

Great affordable place to rent and explore nature at its finest

  • 5 of 5

I recently had the opportunity to stay at this location with friends and family and I can personally attest to the natural beauty of the acreage. The wildlife from deer, various squirrels, porcupine, owls, blue jays and many other birds made my trip truly wonderful. There were many marked trails for hiking/ walking which allowed me to easily walk through and see all this wildlife and beautiful landscapes. The cabins give you a rustic feel but are well equipped and clean, making the experience that much better. Further, if you are not inclined for a walk or hike you can still enjoy the view from inside the cabin or front deck. Debbie was pleasure to talk to and I will definitely return in future. Thanks again Debbie!

Family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful experience exploring everything that nature had to offer. We learned different things throughout the week about nature that I had not experienced in the past. I got to see and hear lots of wildlife such as owls, deer and squirrels. I was also extremely pleased with the accommodations. The cabin was very cozy and spacious. Debbie and family were extremely accommodating and a very pleasant staff. I highly recommend this area for anyone looking to experience all that nature has to offer. Although I was with cousins, uncles, parents and other family this time I am looking forward to coming back with my wife and children in the near future.

  • 5 of 5

Yes, Our second stay was even better than the first.

Weather was great, we got to sit on the front deck, just talking with friends and family.

Debbie is always a pleasure to work with.

Cabin is always clean and very comfortable.

We already have our third stay planned for this fall, can't wait!

We will be regulars.

We hope to have other family members come and stay, so they can admire what a beautiful place this is.
