Built in 1945 (not by Jack), this house is nestled on a quiet street 3 blocks off West Main. This jewel has been renovated inside and out (by Jack). Jack cut and milled the trees on the family farm creating every detail of the beautiful custom built kitchen along with each and every inch of trim and cabinets throughout the house. When it comes to one of a kind details you will find much to appreciate… The 'House that Jack Built' will speak to those looking for something more than merely an accommodation, it is an experience in loving craftsmanship.
The open floor plan offers plenty of seating in the living room, new central air/heat make the house the perfect stay in summer or winter. Vaulted ceiling in the kitchen with wonderful old farm table which seats 4 comfortably. A beautiful spiral staircase takes you to the open loft area with a double bed for additional guests.
The bedroom downstairs is a king. From the bedroom you continue outside to the large deck that sits in a beautiful private backyard. Grill some burgers, drink iced tea, or have a local LOBO beer. Tired of the backyard, sit on the front porch and watch the world go by and listen to the mourning doves and the roosters saying good morning and good night.
You are a 'walk away' from all the excitement called Main Street. Live music at Hondo's and Crossroads are a 'walk away'. If you don't want to make coffee before heading into your day. Ranch Roasters Coffee is just up the street where you will find the best latte, best scones and breakfast tacos in town. Tell Daniel Robin and Don sent you. The 'winery trail' is 15 to 20 minutes from this great location.
Any found items will be kept for one week and if not claimed will be given to a local charity. We are happy to mail anything you forget if you cover the cost of the shipping.
We live in this neighborhood. We love this neighborhood, once you come we think you will too. Come for a weekend, come for a week, come for a month or more...
NEED MORE ROOM... WE HAVE A SISTER (LITERALLY) PROPERTY TWO DOORS DOWN AND IT IS FABULOUS. "WINE DOWN AT THE PEACH HOUSE" #805501...
We moved here from Nashville in 2007, the call of a smaller town made us pack our bags, and we have never looked back. Robin is a producer in the film business, the majority of her work being with HGTV and DIY and enjoys the luxury of working from home. Don (aka Jack) is a contractor/builder/craftsman.His forte is restoring homes back to what they used to be… and enjoys every step of the process.
Robin Rucker purchased this house in 2001
This was a run down rental property when we purchased it… Don used it for his shop for several years making beautiful cabinets and furniture and installing them in other peoples houses… when we decided it was time to bring it back to life… which we did.
This place has it all in terms of being in town but also very quiet and private. It is a short 2 block walk to all the shopping, restaurants and wine bars. It is perfect for a romantic get away or a girls weekend! We do not live on site so you have complete privacy. We allow a self check-in with the key left on site.( Please treat our home as you would your own:)
We loved hosting you two and the pup.... Please come back soon... you are exactly the kind of guests we love to share our home with
My husband and I have visited Fredericksburg several times and stayed at hotels or b&bs. I must say that loved this house! I enjoy cooking, so having the kitchen was great. We were also able to bring our little dog, which was a plus. We stayed over new years weekend and they even had a Christmas tree set up in the living room. A few things that I never think to ask, but are always good to know : the bed was SUPER comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. The TV has basic channels, but there's a dvd player, so if you're planning to spend an evening in, bring some dvds from home or check them out at your local library (or stop by the redbox just a few blocks away). There's a good selection of books too. The owners texted to check in and make sure we didn't need anything, which was nice. Thanks for the excellent getaway weekend! Next time we're in town, I'll be booking here again.
Jack's House was very clean and comfortable, all as advertised, and in a convenient location. We enjoyed our stay.
We would have relaxed more with more privacy. People on neighboring properties and in the street had clear views into the house. With the exception of the master bedroom, the windows only had curtains on the bottom halves, and had no blinds, leaving the top halves completely without cover. We had to rig up full cover for the bathroom window. This was the first place we've stayed that didn't have curtains or blinds that could completely cover every window and we never got used to it. You may want to Bring Your Own Curtains.
Clean, cozy, quiet and comfortable. Incredible handmade woodwork throughout. Well stocked kitchen for cooking. A new grill outside. Great location, you can walk to main street. Hosts, Robin and Don are dandy folks. We'll be back.
Robin was so sweet and very accommodating of us. The house was clean and quaint and a perfect way to celebrate my birthday and getting out of my first trimester. It was very relaxing and all of the amenities were great. House is in a great location just a few blocks from Main Street. Hope to stay in this house again in the near future!!
We stayed at this very nostalgic home in Fredericksburg for 3 nights along with our little dog. Everything was spotless, well decorated and extremely comfortable! We really enjoyed sitting on the nice deck in back and enjoying the October weather. We will return.
We enjoyed our brief stay at "Jack's House". The property looked just as the pictures posted on-line. The owner made it very easy to gain access to the home, which we appreciated.
Enchanted Rock is 20 minutes away and offers hiking, birding, stargazing and much more. The antique town of Comfort is 20 minutes away, with wonderful shopping and charming restaurants. LBJ Nation Park is 25 minutes away and is stunningly beautiful. And don't forget that every third weekend is Trade Days, a must for those looking for outdoor shopping, live music, biergarten and is across the street from the Wildseed Farm. We have lavender trails, we have 13 award winning wineries on the 290 Trail.
Luckenbach is 15 minutes away… Willie, Waylon and the Boys aren't there, but LOTS of good music, LOTS.. Your days in Fredericksburg can be as busy as you want them to be….or stay home and read a book
