Overview

About the property

3 Bed, 2 Bath With Mountain Views And Expansive Deck For Outdoor Leisure

Visiting Starview Lodge makes you feel a world away from the bustle of the city, despite being only 2 hours from San Francisco. Situated on Cobb Mountain – the tallest of the Mayacamas range above Calistoga - you will be treated to the scent of a dense forest, spectacular mountain views, and the best stargazing!

The lodge has three well-appointed bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a great room for entertaining. The master bedroom has a California King memory foam bed, while the second bedroom has a Queen memory foam bed and its own en-suite bathroom. The third bedroom has two bunk beds for a total of 4 twin beds, all with memory foam mattresses. All bedrooms are outfitted with premium linens and comforters.

The open great room combines kitchen, dining room and living room, all view spectacular views of the surrounding forest and Cobb Mountain. The lodge backs up to Boggs State Forest, and sits in a small clearing in the trees. There is a clear view of the night sky - it's a wonderful place to watch a meteor shower!

In the winter months, curl up by the wood-burning fireplace and sprawl on the couch to read a great book. You might also consider watching your favorite Netflix movie on the 40” HDTV.

In the summer, take advantage of the expansive deck with large gas grill, adirondack chairs and outdoor dining table. Read a book while listening to the birds and deer rummage for food, or invite some friends and have an outdoor feast.

Once you have settled into the relaxed mountain atmosphere, you can leave the car behind and walk to many of the great things Cobb has to offer, including:

• Boggs State Forest – hiking, mountain biking (1/4 mile, 5 minutes)

• Cobb Mountain Golf Course, Restaurant and Bar (5 minutes)

• Hardester’s Grocery (10 minutes)

• Mountain High Coffee (10 minutes)

• Brick Oven Pizza (10 Minutes)

You can also take a scenic drive through the mountains and discover other great nearby destinations, including:

• Pine Grove Family Resort – 2 swimming pools and a café (3 minutes)

• Moore Family Winery – Estate-made white and red varietals in the Red Hills appellation (10 Minutes)

• Loch Lomond Roadhouse – Food, drinks and live music (10 minutes)

• Harbin Hot Springs (10 minutes)

Your pet(s) are always welcome at Starview Lodge. There is a fully fenced deck and separate dog run in the side yard for your best friends to enjoy, and a state forest with thousands of acres to play is right outside the back door!

The cabin is equipped with cable TV, high-speed Internet with WiFi, HDTV, and central heat and central air conditioning.

Where is Cobb Mountain? It is less than an hour from Sonoma, Mendocino and Napa counties. It is two hours from Sacramento / central valley, and two hours from the San Francisco Bay Area. The town of Cobb is above 2600’ and receives several periods of light snow during the winter! And because it is inland and sheltered from the coastal fog, it reaches wonderful but comfortable 80s/90s temperatures in the summer. It’s a perfect escape any time of the year.

Simple, comfortable, and relaxing!!!

  • 5 of 5

We love staying in the lodge, very comfortable. WiFi keeps you connected, but you still feel the calming sense of being in the mountains. Very close to the local store and a pool (seasonal) at Pine Grove. The kitchen is very spacious; basic tools are available and you can definitely get by and cook for yourself. The master bedroom is very nice. The upstairs bathroom is great too. Two bedrooms downstairs, one is a great kids bunkhouse and the other works for another couple. A full bathroom is attached to the second downstairs bedroom. We love the AC for those hot days when being up on the sunny part of the mountain can feel a little too warm for coastal folk.

The deck is very serene. You can turn on the propane fire pit and enjoy the crisp evening air. This year they had a hammock on the deck. That was a nice addition. I spent quite a few hours on the deck reading and hanging out with friends.

A few things to note are the spiral staircase which requires a little caution especially if you've been sipping a few drinks (haha). The other is the driveway which is a bit steep, but there is a landing pad that fits two or three cars pretty easily. You can squeeze another car or two on the incline as well. It is nice to have plentiful parking.

A fun get away

We stayed here while visiting my brother who lived near by. The cabin had a fun set up. There were more than plenty of towels, linens and cleaning supplies. We had a great time. Thank you!

The quiet and tranquil environment was a welcome change from the busy city life.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our calm and relaxing family time on the mountain. Playing board games with the family was loads of fun. The kitchen had enough supplies for us to make our meals. We especially enjoyed sitting by the fire pit in the evenings. The only part we did not care for was having to sweep away the cobwebs across the stairwell leading up to the house and on the deck. It seemed as if the outside had no been cleaned in a bit. Otherwise, we were pleased with everything else at the lodge. Thank you.
