This vintage mid-century house has the classic living space of that period – a central wrap around fireplace and chimney that defines the open-beam living room, dining room, and the kitchen, all with an open floor plan, extensive skylights and picture windows that emphasizes the large size of the living spaces. Three bedrooms, all with queen size beds, are in their own wing. There are two bathrooms, one of which is in the master suite. There is a media room with HD TV, Blu Ray DVD, and cable TV. A daybed with trundle bed in the media room can be used as two twin beds for the kids. Also in the media room is a desk for writing or catching-up on your email. Hardwood floors and forced air heating throughout the house. Fast, large washer/dryer are available in the garage.

The private outdoor space is unsurpassed. The beautiful enclosed large deck sits among the redwoods, and the large private back patio is an ideal space for a barbecue-all surrounded by mature redwood trees. All rooms exit out into either the patio or the deck through glass doors.

This property is very tranquil and quiet. The house is nestled in a redwood forest, surrounded by mature redwood trees, a creek, and a truly peaceful, romantic setting. Every room in the house has a window facing the redwoods that circle the home, bringing in natural light. All three bedrooms have sliding glass doors: two face the large front deck and the master suite faces the large patio and garden.

Our residential neighborhood is tranquil and quiet and family-oriented. A ten minute stroll, along the Corte Madera creek and through massive 100+ year-old redwoods of Miller Grove brings you to the center of the quaint village of Mill Valley. Walk 5 minutes the other direction and you are into Blithedale Park and beyond up Mount Tamalpais to its many hiking trails.

Business in downtown Mill Valley include numerous high-end and casual restaurants, a grocery store/deli, a fantastic local bakery and a wide variety of boutiques. There are also many entertainment options: the historic Sweetwater Music Hall, the 142 Throckmorton Comedy Club, and a vintage movie theater. Marin Theatre Company is just a 5 minutes drive away.

Mill Valley has two Whole Foods markets, a Friday Farmer's Market, and organic sections in the historical market and two Safeway Stores.

For hiking, mountain biking, surfing and more, Mount Tamalpais State Park, Muir Woods National Monument, Stinson Beach, and the Marin Headlands are all just minutes away. Sausalito and Tiburon are both tourist destinations and also minutes away. The Napa and Sonoma Wine countries are only an hours drive north. And of course, the world-class city of San Francisco and all it has to offer is only 15 minutes away across the Golden Gate Bridge.

About Brent Lok

I grew up in Mill Valley in the 60s and recently came back purchasing my dream home nestled in the redwoods.

Brent Lok purchased this house in 2014

Why Brent Lok chose San Francisco Bay Area

It's been lots of fun furnishing this dream home in authentic mid-century furnishings, bringing back childhood memories. Now I'd like to share this dream home with you, my guests. I'd also like to share all the home and the beautiful surrounding area has to offer guests: hiking, dining, entertainment, sightseeing, and SF nightlife.

What makes this house unique

I fell in love with this home because it was a home nestled in the redwoods. From every window in the house and from the amazing deck and patio you see redwoods. While its only a 10 minute walk along the Corte Madera creek into downtown Mill Valley with all its shopping and restaurants, you also have all the hiking trails of Mount Tamalpais right at your doorsteps. Its a short 15 minute ride across the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco and all it has to offer. It's also only 60 minutes to the Sonoma and Napa wine country.

Great property with beautiful outdoor area. Brent was great to work with and always answered any questions we had in a very timely manner. We were able to enjoy the quiet of Mill Valley and experience the hustle and bustle of San Francisco!! You won't be disappointed with this property!

Awesome Home! Awesome Experience!

  • 5 of 5

Our family gathered at this beautiful home to celebrate a milestone in our daughter's life. I could not have asked for a better experience from the initial inquiry, the booking, and our stay.

Bret was prompt in his replies and provided valuable information. The outdoor ambience is spectacular: Redwood trees, running stream, and wildlife; but yet it's only a short walk to the village. The front deck provided a wonderful gathering place, for our family who came from Kona Hawaii, Los Angeles, and Palo Alto. The interior is so comfortable, with era pieces and artwork that compliments the home. The large TV in the family room provided a wonderful viewing of the streaming of our daughter's graduation for the family members who could not attend the actual ceremony in the city. Mahalo nui loa, Bret and Wayne. We will definitely stay here again when we return for future visits.

Great location and lovely house

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in May 2017 for 3 nights and it was a perfect place for four adults. We can tell the owners take care of the place and instructions/communication have been very clear.

My parents (who are from LA) were so impressed with the surrounding nature: tall trees and small creek and private outdoor area. I was little worried when I read one of the reviews below that amenity was old but that's not the case. They are not new as you see in HGTV home flip shows but everything was there and both living rooms, kitchen, and all three rooms were very spacious and clean. I do a lot of renting through homeaway.com or airbnb and I would say this was one of the best rental we did. The pictures you see on the website is accurate (which we know that is not true for many listings). We also walked to downtown Mill Valley for less than 15 minutes and enjoyed restaurants. Thank you so much for letting us to rent your home!

Very Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Our staying at Mill Valley was great!

The house is very comfortable, in a beautiful and graceful city and neighborhood.

We have spent just 20 minutes from there to San Francisco. Good place to stay.

The owners spent all attention before and during our staying, with information and details.

Although it was raining during all our staying, we could enjoyed the city and the house.

Hope to have the opportunity to be back and enjoy the beautiful barbecue place that the house offers to the hosts.

Great location. Quiet neighborhood.

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. The house is in a great location close to Muir woods and Sausalito. Negatives - Appliances are dated and hard to use. Garage not available to guests.
