Overview

About the property

Cozy, converted barn completely renovated for 2017!

Private wilderness River Ranch on 190 acres of world-class swimming holes. Cozy, converted Barn completely renovated for 2016! Great for family reunions, yoga & corporate retreats, weddings and friends getting together. Four miles to the southern gate of Sequoia National Park with great hiking trails, high mountain meadows, and giant groves of Sequoia trees.

This is a working ranch with cattle, horses, donkeys, goats, peacocks and chickens (feel free to gather fresh eggs from our chicken coop!). We do have an occasional bear and deer wandering through as well as foxes, raccoons, and birds galore!

There is approximately 1800 feet of riverfront with many great boulders to lay on after a nice refreshing swim in one of our several massive swimming holes, where you can take an exhilarating dip in total seclusion with a valley of mountains surrounding you.

The Barn is located at the river's edge. It includes an upper self-contained unit consisting of 1 king bed and 1 full bathroom, a children's nook with a full bed (this children’s nook is a miniature room with it’s own door), a kitchen, a family room with a couch, a flat-screen with DirecTV, as well as additional seating, a table and a bar area. Outside the upper unit there is a large deck overlooking the South Kaweah River. The lower/ground floor of the Barn has 5 sleeping areas: 3 bedrooms with queen beds as well as 1 bunk-bed room with a full on top and a queen on the bottom. All of these rooms have doors. There is also 1 den connected to the living room (living-room has three large couches) that has a fold-out queen bed. This den area is not separated by a doorway but instead by curtains (for privacy and blackout) and connects to the living room through an alcove. Downstairs, there are 2 full bathrooms, a kitchen, a game room with a pool & card tables and a flat-screen with DirecTV and a dvd player. Outside, there is a large patio with an extra-long bench seating/eating area with huge 8-foot custom BBQ. Upstairs and downstairs, the Barn sleeps 16 comfortably. The BBQ has cooked for 100 guests! The rate for the Barn includes a 10% occupancy tax (required by the state) and $350 cleaning fee. This rental has a two-day minimum. We allow up to 16 guests for this rate- for additional guests or campers, there is a $25 per guest/per night fee. We also have pet fee of $75 per pet.

In renting Redwood Ranch, you will ensure total privacy and that you will be the only guests with access to the 190 acres, the 1800 feet of river frontage with breathtaking tranquil and secluded swimming holes and a hiking/jogging/walking trail that loops around the property.

We require half up front (nonrefundable) to reserve. The remainder is due 90 days before arrival.

About Andrew George

Our family is very passionate about the outdoors and once we saw this ranch, we never stopped thinking about it! We are very grateful to own such a rare and special gem. It's really like owning and experiencing a piece of Sequoia National Park...

Andrew George purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Andrew George chose Sequoia, Kings Canyon

There are so many special features but we would think that the 190 acres with multiple swimming holes, waterfalls and mountain tops at 6500 feet out your window with no noise but the birds, peacocks, horses and cows, is a welcome change-

What makes this cabin unique

Being 8 miles out along South Fork Road gives you the feeling of being in the Sequoia National Park. The other feature is the river being situated so close to the Barn, and with access to one of the only bridges on the South Fork to cross the river, you can just take off into mountains. No one else has this access so you're not going to see another soul unless you invite them-

Guestbook comments from the owner

If you love nature, peace and tranquility this is the place to go. This was the first time I got to experience the real beauty of the great Californian outbacks. Driving on the mountain road you suddenly spot the barn beneath you by the river, perfectly placed, looking exactly like on the pictures. The host lets you in and shows you around, you are immediately impressed how neatly everything is arranged and organised. The pictures don't do justice to the insight of the house, it's more spacious than you would expect - you don't know what to do, whether to hang in the beautiful and light kitchen, relax on the couch and look at the river or maybe play a couple of games of pool. There is also a whole apartment in the upper floor with the second fully equipped kitchen and a relaxing living room. Really a perfect place for pretty much any kind of a crowd, a family, group of friends, hikers, readers, philosophers,... I went for a run further up the mountain, just in my shorts and t-shirt, stopped for a second as I was already sweating, that is when I noticed all the snow covered mountain tops, just an impressive sight and a great feeling considering you are just a 3 hour drive away from all the hustle and bustle of LA. Thanks for having us Andrew! Loved it, will definitely come back, and, honestly I recommend it to everyone

Best Trip Ever

  • 5 of 5

Given the unique location along with the photos, we expected a beautiful stay and yes, we got that...and more. It is difficult to explain just how much our family (7) enjoyed and got so much out of this experience, that we will walk away with a treasure full of fantastic memories. The 190 acre ranch is so beautiful that it is truly awe-inspiring. My son said to me while cooking steaks on the barbecue that "this is the best vacation he has ever had".....and I must agree. The 3 children fell in love with the donkeys, the peacocks and especially the extremely friendly cats. My granddaughter brought in fresh eggs every morning for breakfast, a truly wonderful experience for this city-girl. The care-taker couple just were terrific and added another adventure/education experience to our vacation. Of course, we visited nearby Sequoia but couldn't wait to return to our mountain ranch "home" to settle in and enjoy the evening sunset on the surrounding hills and mountains and of course the ever-rushing South Fork River that flowed by our ranch/barn/home. My 5-star rating doesn't accurately reflect the joy and pleasure this stay brought us; I only wish there were 10 stars. What more can I say....we will return!

Beautiful property for a large group

  • 4 of 5

This ranch has everything you need. Its remote location provides privacy and gives you the opportunity to truly relax and get away from it all. Stargazing is great on this property! The highlight is the river and swimming holes, which are located right behind the house. We really enjoyed our stay here. I recommend it!

Redwood Ranch is an amazing secluded retreat on the South Fork of Keweah River!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Redwood Ranch went far beyond our expectations! Beautiful accommodations and amenities, helpful check-in staff, and a setting that is mind-blowing. Our kids swam in the swimming holes along the river all day and we cooked and ate our dinners outdoors every night. Redwood Ranch is a magical place. Kudos to Andrew and his family for building such a special place a willing to share it with others!

FYI, bring everything you need. The house is in a remote location and it is not convenient going back to town for groceries or personal effects.

Unique private property

  • 4 of 5

The house itself is very roomy and accommodated 8 adults & 4 children comfortably. The kids loved the little kids nook during the day but were too scared to use to sleep in. It just depends on your children, mine are scaredy cats. The kitchen is great, I would recommend bringing your own knives as theirs are dull and a can opener. The have one toaster, 2 microwaves, the downstairs fridge makes ice. The upstairs fridge has ice trays and the sink has filtered water.

If it wasn't 110 degrees we would have enjoyed ourselves more, but that is not the property fault it just so happened that the weather was uncooperative. We would have gone in the swimming holes but because we had an unusual amount of snow it was too dangerous.

There were a few issues, but Andrew, Jalene & Phillip were very helpful. Make sure to ask how to work the air conditioner properly as we waited 2 days to ask which was our fault. Once shown how it worked great thankfully because we were stuck inside most of the time.

The ranch animals are adorable one of Phillips dog had puppies and he was so nice letting us spend time with them. The peacocks were cool just make sure you are careful were you walk as they poop on the balcony.

FYI if bringing children the tv does not have the cartoon network or we just couldn't find it. Normally I wouldn't have the tv on but like I said due to the heat we spent a lot of time inside.

This is very important and I think in future it should be warned. My brothers car got stuck going back up the road from the house. It is very steep hill. Make sure you have good tires as you can slip on the gravel. The road turns into a very long driveway and becomes one narrow lane. I would recommend getting there during the day as driving at night would be scary, plus there is no lighting.

Absolutely Perfect Wedding

  • 5 of 5

We recently got married on the Ranch with about 100 guests, and it couldn't have gone better. The property itself is so gorgeous and dreamy, it was worth asking our guests to make the three hour drive. The owner and staff could not have been more accommodating and wonderful. We worked with the wedding coordinator partnered with the ranch, and she was an absolute blessing. With so much natural beauty at the ranch, we didn't need a bunch of expensive decorations or gimmicks. Our friends and family are still telling us how beautiful and stunning our wedding was, and a lot of that is owed to the location. The spot was great for kids too, as there were baby goats and peacocks running around. Even the porta-potties were luxurious. It was a truly magical event, and we couldn't be happier. Thank you to everyone on the ranch who helped make our day perfect.

Wonderful stay right on the river!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at the home. Just returned today and we are ready to book again in the future! It's the best of everything the woods, farm life, and just about all you could imagine. We really enjoyed the fresh eggs from the chickens and being able to pet the horses. The river was beautiful. We hope to return in the future.
