Overview

About the property

Cozy, converted barn completely renovated for 2017!

Private wilderness River Ranch on 190 acres of world-class swimming holes. Cozy, converted Barn completely renovated for 2016! Great for family reunions, yoga & corporate retreats, weddings and friends getting together. Four miles to the southern gate of Sequoia National Park with great hiking trails, high mountain meadows, and giant groves of Sequoia trees.

This is a working ranch with cattle, horses, donkeys, goats, peacocks and chickens (feel free to gather fresh eggs from our chicken coop!). We do have an occasional bear and deer wandering through as well as foxes, raccoons, and birds galore!

There is approximately 1800 feet of riverfront with many great boulders to lay on after a nice refreshing swim in one of our several massive swimming holes, where you can take an exhilarating dip in total seclusion with a valley of mountains surrounding you.

The Barn is located at the river's edge. It includes an upper self-contained unit consisting of 1 king bed and 1 full bathroom, a children's nook with a full bed (this children’s nook is a miniature room with it’s own door), a kitchen, a family room with a couch, a flat-screen with DirecTV, as well as additional seating, a table and a bar area. Outside the upper unit there is a large deck overlooking the South Kaweah River. The lower/ground floor of the Barn has 5 sleeping areas: 3 bedrooms with queen beds as well as 1 bunk-bed room with a full on top and a queen on the bottom. All of these rooms have doors. There is also 1 den connected to the living room (living-room has three large couches) that has a fold-out queen bed. This den area is not separated by a doorway but instead by curtains (for privacy and blackout) and connects to the living room through an alcove. Downstairs, there are 2 full bathrooms, a kitchen, a game room with a pool & card tables and a flat-screen with DirecTV and a dvd player. Outside, there is a large patio with an extra-long bench seating/eating area with huge 8-foot custom BBQ. Upstairs and downstairs, the Barn sleeps 16 comfortably. The BBQ has cooked for 200 guests! The rate for the Barn includes a 10% occupancy tax (required by the state) and $350 cleaning fee. This rental has a two-day minimum. We allow up to 16 guests for this rate- for additional guests or campers, there is a $25 per guest/per night fee. We have a $100 pet fee (per pet) and all pets must be on leash at all times while at the Ranch.

In renting Redwood Ranch, you will ensure total privacy and that you will be the only guests with access to the 190 acres, the 1800 feet of river frontage with breathtaking tranquil and secluded swimming holes and a hiking/jogging/walking trail that loops around the property.

About Andrew George

Our family is very passionate about the outdoors and once we saw this ranch, we never stopped thinking about it! We are very grateful to own such a rare and special gem. It's really like owning and experiencing a piece of Sequoia National Park...

Andrew George purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Andrew George chose Three Rivers

There are so many special features but we would think that the 190 acres with multiple swimming holes, waterfalls and mountain tops at 6500 feet out your window with no noise but the birds, peacocks, horses and cows, is a welcome change-

What makes this cabin unique

Being 8 miles out along South Fork Road gives you the feeling of being in the Sequoia National Park. The other feature is the river being situated so close to the Barn, and with access to one of the only bridges on the South Fork to cross the river, you can just take off into mountains. No one else has this access so you're not going to see another soul unless you invite them-

Guestbook comments from the owner

If you love nature, peace and tranquility this is the place to go. This was the first time I got to experience the real beauty of the great Californian outbacks. Driving on the mountain road you suddenly spot the barn beneath you by the river, perfectly placed, looking exactly like on the pictures. The host lets you in and shows you around, you are immediately impressed how neatly everything is arranged and organised. The pictures don't do justice to the insight of the house, it's more spacious than you would expect - you don't know what to do, whether to hang in the beautiful and light kitchen, relax on the couch and look at the river or maybe play a couple of games of pool. There is also a whole apartment in the upper floor with the second fully equipped kitchen and a relaxing living room. Really a perfect place for pretty much any kind of a crowd, a family, group of friends, hikers, readers, philosophers,... I went for a run further up the mountain, just in my shorts and t-shirt, stopped for a second as I was already sweating, that is when I noticed all the snow covered mountain tops, just an impressive sight and a great feeling considering you are just a 3 hour drive away from all the hustle and bustle of LA. Thanks for having us Andrew! Loved it, will definitely come back, and, honestly I recommend it to everyone

Best Trip Ever

  • 5 of 5

Given the unique location along with the photos, we expected a beautiful stay and yes, we got that...and more. It is difficult to explain just how much our family (7) enjoyed and got so much out of this experience, that we will walk away with a treasure full of fantastic memories. The 190 acre ranch is so beautiful that it is truly awe-inspiring. My son said to me while cooking steaks on the barbecue that "this is the best vacation he has ever had".....and I must agree. The 3 children fell in love with the donkeys, the peacocks and especially the extremely friendly cats. My granddaughter brought in fresh eggs every morning for breakfast, a truly wonderful experience for this city-girl. The care-taker couple just were terrific and added another adventure/education experience to our vacation. Of course, we visited nearby Sequoia but couldn't wait to return to our mountain ranch "home" to settle in and enjoy the evening sunset on the surrounding hills and mountains and of course the ever-rushing South Fork River that flowed by our ranch/barn/home. My 5-star rating doesn't accurately reflect the joy and pleasure this stay brought us; I only wish there were 10 stars. What more can I say....we will return!

Great Place for a Family Thanksgiving

  • 4 of 5

We spent 4 days in this idyllic spot over Thanksgiving. We were particularly lucky in having perfect weather. Our 6 grandchildren hiked and rode their bicycles all over the property, and swam in the chilly upper and lower swimming holes with their wetsuits. They loved climbing over the rocks while they explored the river. There is a lovely 1 1/4 mile hike around the property which takes you past the swimming holes, and the cows and horses. The pool table was well used. The two kitchens were fairly well stocked, and the appliances adequate. We thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit each evening, with plenty of firewood available. We would consider returning for a future vacation.

Beautiful and unique wedding venue

  • 4 of 5

Redwood Ranch is a beautiful place to stay and a beautiful and unique venue for events in the middle of the countryside outside of Three Rivers CA. I had my wedding here at the end of September and the event was everything I could have dreamed and more. The ranch house is beautiful inside and comfortably accommodated the 14 people we had staying there. The grounds are spectacularly beautiful and were the perfect backdrop for our small, intimate ceremony and reception. It is also a fun and interesting place to stay several nights, and I would highly suggest that couples that book it stay several nights (minimum 3) to take full advantage of everything the property has to offer--especially the swimming holes and the walking trails. We had a lovely plunge in the swimming hole on the morning of our wedding and many of our wedding party enjoyed a cool dip throughout the weekend. We also hiked the day afterwards and were able to spend the whole weekend outdoors. The sound of the river behind the house is lovely.

The large BBQ and two kitchens made hosting a rehearsal dinner at the ranch (and breakfasts in the mornings) a breeze and the picnic table outside was full the entire weekend with friends having lunch or coffee, drinking a beer and having a good time.

The staff at the ranch were friendly and helpful and did much to accommodate us over the weekend we were there. Tom was great and always creative and helpful when we needed something or wanted to execute an idea. Jalene is a ray of sunshine who definitely gives you confidence and positivity on your big day.

I would recommend Redwood Ranch to anyone who wants an outdoorsy wedding in a stunning location where they can really gather for a weekend with their loved ones. Thank you Redwood Ranch!

FANTASTIC FAMILY VACATION!

  • 5 of 5

A group of 8 adults and 7 children stayed here for a weekend get together. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, everybody loved it. There was plenty of space for everybody and plenty of room on the property for the kids to roam around and have a blast. The fire pit and barbecue are fantastic and hiking around the property with the kids was the highlight of the trip, there is a great trail that goes around the property. Tom (the caretaker of the property) couldn't have been more friendly and helped us with anything we needed. This is definitely a place I would recommend for any group of people and I will hopefully be back soon!

Unique property. Worked great for us!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and friends from high school get together once a year to relax and catch up with each other. After searching far and wide on VRBO I found this place and knew it was perfect for us. It is not super luxurious but the location and the swimming hole can't be beat. The barn house is exactly as described so no one should be surprised about the bedroom or kitchen set up. The backyard grill was amazing as was the ability to sit around a fire and talk and look at the brilliant stars at night. As did many others we spent one day in the Sequoia Park but then the rest of the time hanging out at the amazing swimming hole that was fun for everyone from age 15 to 55! Loved the eggs from the chickens, the nice string lights for in the evening that provided just the right amount of lighting and the very responsive owner (don't know how it happened but we locked the door to the bathroom with no one inside and the owner was there within minutes to solve the problem). It was such a popular spot we may well be back there again next year, and some of my friends can be picky! Thanks again to the owner for the wonderful time!

Beautiful property for a large group

  • 4 of 5

This ranch has everything you need. Its remote location provides privacy and gives you the opportunity to truly relax and get away from it all. Stargazing is great on this property! The highlight is the river and swimming holes, which are located right behind the house. We really enjoyed our stay here. I recommend it!
