We've just finish remodeling ANOTHER Manzanita beachfront vacation home!

We couldn't resist this house - and we'll bet you'll love it too. First, there's the insane 180º views of Manzanita Beach with the scenic Neahkahnie mountain. Then there's the original beach rock wood burning fireplace to add to the charm and coziness.

We've opened up the kitchen to the views and modernized it just enough to accomodate the most discerning vacation cook. Of course you'll enjoy the honed granite countertops, brand new appliances (and yes, there's a dishwasher. It's just hidden) and everything you need to create your dining masterpiece.

This historic beach home was the Caretaker's Cottage for our Historic Reed House, now just two houses north of this enchanting bungalow. Equipped for 6, it has two cozy bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and one bathroom with shower.

This well designed cozy house is the perfect space for your small individal, couples or group vacation, or as additional space to large groups visiting our Historic Reed House.

About Kim Bergstrom

I'm Kim Bergstrom. My husband, Eric Bergstrom, have built on my father's dream of owning a beachfront house on the Oregon Coast. We now own three, and much to my husband's dismay we continue to grow. We purchased our family beach house from my father in 1996, and have thrived through sweat equity - most people think of us as rather crazy, but we've taken something we love to do and are making it our second chapter in life.

We enjoy taking properties with potential and great location, adding a facelift without removing the character, and introducing them to our expanding group of guests. Our latest endeavor is a turn of the century three story house which will sleep 20. We put a lot of thought and work into each house, and luckily have found guests who love the results. Like many of our guests we've come to know over the years, we hope you also come to think of this special house as your very own vacation home - without all the work!

Kim Bergstrom purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Kim Bergstrom chose Manzanita

With deep ties to the Manzanita community, we've watched this house over the years. Put up for sale, it needed love and attention, from the weedy front yard to the small windows and precarious route to the side deck. Kim and her daughter saw the potential and convinced Eric to join in the fun.

There definitely was a learning curve for all - by the end of the project we could have written a book detailing the fun and craziness with remodeling a cedar log house. With big windows and decks to take advantage of the beautiful setting and gorgeous ocean views, opening up smaller rooms to big open areas, designer touches here and there -- well, we invite you to see the results. Or check out our reviews. Our regular guests, and new guests, have awarded us great feedback. And every happy guest makes the experience worthwhile!

What makes this cottage unique

Spend your next vacation at this cozy beachfront Caretakers Bungalow on one of the most famous Oregon beaches. You'll love the modern updates to this historic cabin, including updated desiger kitchen with honed granite counters and awesome views!

Delightful, well appointed little cottage with amazing views and location!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the Caretakers Bungalow! The house had everything we needed and the proximity to the beach was great for frequent runs to the surf with our dogs. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and eat-in, and the main bedroom (we didn't use the 2nd bedroom) was comfortable and warm. Highly recommended!!

Great retreat

  • 5 of 5

It was perfect for the four of us. We had a wonderful view of the beach with easy access just across the road. It was roomy, with a great kitchen and new appliances. The beds were very comfortable. It is tidy and inviting. Everything that we needed was provided for us. Wifi, a smart TV, games and books to read. Great location for walking. Even the dog had a good time. This bungalow will stay on our list of fun places to stay. We recommend it highly.

Charming little cottage

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect house for myself, my daughter and two grandsons to spend 5 nights. We had wonderfully good weather - sunny and 65 degrees for four days! Got to watch a big storm roll in on the fifth day which is when I left. Great getaway and retreat during the winter!

Perfect Beach Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Great location right across the street from the beach at Manzanita and a ten minute walk to the retail district on Laneda Ave. The cottage is decorated in a contemporary style with no frou-frou. We always try to rent a place with a full kitchen and this cottage had one of the best we've come across. Everything you need to cook away from home was there with plenty of elbow room. The fireplace drew very well while a winter storm raged outside. Highly recommended.

Relaxing Winter getaway by the beach

  • 5 of 5

Great location to watch the ocean with the beautiful sunrises/sunsets (weather permitting of course!). The home is very clean with all the necessary kitchen stuff to cook meals and the rooms are appointed with nice furnishings and comfortable beds

Stock up on firewood and enjoy the fireplace to make the stay very cozy on a cold and wet day. We did not mind when it rained all day one day, as the home is just great to read a book, watch a DVD, play cards, or just watch the ocean and rain.

Our dogs loved the beach and ran off leash everyday exploring the driftwood and flotsam that washes up on the beach. There is a front and rear yard which is convenient if the dogs need to do their thing in the morning or before bed at night.

It is a short drive into the commercial area of the charming and friendly town of Manzanita where there are a good mix of stores, restaurants and bars.

After staying here for six days and getting into the beach life routine, we did not want to leave. Looks like we'll need to come back for another relaxing stay in the future!
