About Mary Gonzalez and Henry Vasquez

We are both BOIs (Born on the Island), and raised on the island. We currently live near this property. For us, this will always be home. We enjoy traveling, gardening, and time with family and friends.

Mary Gonzalez and Henry Vasquez purchased this house in 1998

Why Mary Gonzalez and Henry Vasquez chose Galveston Island

Close to beach which for us has a calming affect. It's nice to ride down the Seawall each morning on our way to work. It's an old Galveston home with a lot of character, which we love!

What makes this house unique

Proximity to the Seawall...walking distance. Some days you can hear the ocean from the front porch, which is a calming affect for us. The neighorhood is well established and safe.

2017 Rally Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Our 2017 Rally weekend was amazing in this cozy beautiful home.

Mary and Henry were amazing host. Mary came to check in on us the first day and showed us all that the home had to offer. We needed for nothing in this home. They truly have thought of all the home essentials that are needed for everyday life. The fully stocked functional kitchen was great and helped us to save money by cooking many of our meals and not eating out all weekend long.

Biggest bonus was that early on I asked if there was an air mattress since we were a party of three couples on the fluffier side and the bunk beds were really not conducive to the fluffies… Mary messaged me a few days later that an air mattress had been added to the home. This was a great a wonderful surprise. The air mattress was utilized and appreciated.

The garage parking for the three motorcycles was great so that we did not wake up to wet bikes. The location was a huge plus, just a few blocks from The Spot and right in the center of the island.

Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality and opening up this great home for others to enjoy.

Great experience with fantastic hosts

  • 5 of 5

My parents and I spent the entire month of March at Casa Es Mi Vida. Mary and Henry are fantastic hosts. They went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The house is clean, comfortable and in a great location. It’s just a short walk to the beaches and bars along the Seawall, but is far enough away to be quiet and ruckus free. We had some additional family stop by for long weekend during spring break. The house felt a little crowded with six occupants, but we never felt uncomfortable. I read a review that said this was a unsafe neighborhood, but that is simply not true. During our stay, we were able to meet several of the neighbors and everyone was extremely friendly and seemed genuinely glad that we were there. I highly recommend Casa Es Mi Vida. We’re hoping to stay there again soon.

Lovely home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was quite comfortable and has all the amenities. We also enjoyed relaxing on the front porch. It is located close to the seawall, restaurants and within walking distance to Pleasure pier. The owners, Mary & Henry, were great hosts and we look forward to coming back next year for two months.
