About Heidi Welsch

We currently live in Minnesota. We have two children - one in college and one in high school. Our next chapter will be in Estes Park!

Heidi Welsch purchased this house in 2014

Why Heidi Welsch chose Estes Park

We were seeking a private mountain home in Estes Park, centrally located, within town limits with easy access to RMNP, downtown, and all of the local attractions. We fell in love right away and knew this was the one!! The size and construction of the huge logs captivated us. We value our privacy and appreciate the very private setting of our new home!

What makes this house unique

We hope you will love the rustic charm and modern day amenities with awesome mountain views and, of course, a hot tub for relaxing those muscles after a full day of hiking or shopping.

Car: necessary

Walking distance to playground; easy access to bike trail into Estes Park; minutes from entrance to RMNP, downtown Estes Park and Mary's Lake.

Lovely home, beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

The home was lovely and seemed well kept. It was a bit dirty when we arrived. Sticky spots on the floor from spills in kitchen, floors needed swept. We enjoyed the home, played cards and games at the lovely dining room table. We were warned about bears being active so we didn't spend time outside. We did see deer out the kitchen window on our final morning. We would certainly stay here again.

Great cabin in estes

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a long weekend at the beautiful cabin in Estes park. The log home was clean spacious and beautifully decorated. We were very comfortable there. It was minutes from town but also nestled on a hill among a beautiful wooded area. We would definitely go back again.

Great mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family chose to meet up at this cabin and spend a week together. We had 6 adults and 4 children in our group. (We got special permission from the owner to exceed the limit.) The cabin was perfect. Every couple had their own room and bathroom, the big kids shared a room, each with a bed, and the baby slept in a provided pack and play in his parents' room. There was plenty of space to spread out. We enjoyed wildlife viewing from the porch and amazing star gazing at night. Everyone agreed that it was the perfect cabin for us.

A perfect location

  • 5 of 5

A great location far enough away from downtown Estes Park to avoid the noise and crowd, close enough to run in for groceries or dining! The home is clean and welcoming, and the wooded location invites gentle wildlife to visit at unpredictable time. Within 200 yards--and often only a few feet away--were visiting deer, elk and smaller creatures!

The interior design works well for larger families, the only drawback being the previously mentioned creaking roof; it really does snap, crackle and pop at all hours, day and night. This inconvenience would not stop us from staying again, however, so you should just be aware if you have someone who is sensitive to abrupt noises.

We can happily recommend the Log Retreat for those wishing to have privacy and convenience--we hope to stay again!

Great space & location!

  • 4 of 5

We chose this property for our vacation with both sons, their wives and 3 grandchildren under 10. It was a great choice. The cabin interior worked very well for us, the privacy and space around the cabin were particularly nice and the location couldn't have been better. We are frequent visitors to Rocky Mountain National Park and accessed all areas/entrances without needing to drive through the congested areas of Estes Park.
