Le Mas des Roseaux is a charming 5 bedroom vacation rental set in 3000m2 of beautiful landscaped grounds, all enclosed by reeds ('roseaux') and cypress trees. The property offers complete privacy and is not overlooked by others, whether swimming in the pool, playing croquet on the lawn or dining under the pergola. The pool is at the end of the garden with a lovely view towards the house, and if required for small children can be safely separated by a discreet barrier (removable).

It is a warm and comfortable holiday home for up to 10 people, perfect for a holiday with friends or a family get-together.

The owners often stay at the house which is therefore equipped for a family and maintained to a high level of comfort with all modern amenities. This makes for a welcoming and cosy house, highly recommended by previous renters.

The house has 5 bedrooms, one downstairs and 4 upstairs (4 of them with AC), all with views of the garden. The master bedroom has en suite bathroom with bath and shower and there are 2 other bathrooms upstairs, each with shower and toilet. The downstairs bedroom has its own shower room and toilet next door.

Downstairs you will find a spacious living area with comfortable couches, fireplace, office corner and a separate library area full of English books (and also a handy corner for children to play in!)

There is Wifi, satellite TV, video player, a Bose sound system as well as a printer.

This area opens onto a charming vine-covered terrace overlooking the garden with a table that can sit 14 as well as a small BBQ house.

As the owners love to cook the kitchen is extremely well equipped including a large Lacanche stove, and has a table for up to 10 for eating inside on a cool night.

The pool area has 10 lounge chairs and 2 hammocks. You can choose to sit in the shade of the trees or in the sun as you prefer. There are also plenty of pool toys for kids and even a sandbox in a shady part of the garden for the little ones.

Near the house there are deck chairs, benches and other comfortable chairs for the aperitif with a view of the garden.

The house has an extensive Guidebook not only to the house but to all activities in the area, places to visit, restaurants, markets, sports … , much appreciated by our guests.

About The Owner

We are an English/Danish couple who have lived in the Paris area for the past 35 years.

We come down to the sun regularly as do our daughters with their children (from Rome and Brussels).

The Owner purchased this villa in 2004

Why The Owner chose France

it has everything except the sea - and even that is only an hour away : Provence life and apparently the sunniest place in France, world-class music/dance/theatre/photography festivals in the surrounding area, possibilities for hiking and biking not to forget the good food and wine.

The proximity to an airport and a TGV station both for us and our children was an important aspect.

What makes this villa unique

We spent 10 years looking for a property in the south of France and Italy and ended up deciding on St Rémy. Why? Because of the sun, a great region with numerous and excellent cultural activities (music, theatre, photo etc) and also its outdoor life : hiking in les Alpilles and biking (many bike paths near our house). The Avignon theatre Festival is a fantastic experience as is the Arles Photo Exhibition.

This is a place that you can visit all year round which was essential for us.

We were met by a charming English speaking manager and immediately felt very

comfortable with our rental choice.

We visited with our family and the property was very well equipped for us all.

The location was very private but very accessible to St Remy and it's charming

surrounds.

Most of our time was spent relaxing outdoors and the beautiful garden and pool

we're perfect.

We couldn't have been happier and were very sad to leave but certainly hope to

return one day.

Our week in Heaven

My husband, and our two boys (age 3 & 6) decided to rent the fabulous villa with our respective parents and had a fantastic time. There is so much to see and explore in that region and I feel -despite daily excursions- that we're only explored a tiny part of Provence. The whole property was MAGNIFIQUE. Bedrooms are comfortable, A/C in all but one, with a lot of light. Pool is beyond-belief wonderful We worried about the pool being not hot enough without a heater but the pool temperature was always perfect. The summer sun is so strong in Provence so it's a non-issue. Kitchen is perfectly equipped, we cooked and ate outside every single night. Everything in this house was impeccable, and we plan to be back, if not yearly, several more times.

A Wonderful Surprise

I am usually skeptical of photos of rental properties but this Mas is exactly as the photos depict. If anything, the gardens are even nicer than shown and the house is spacious and so well equipped that our group of five adults quickly settled in. The house manager was there to welcome us and was very responsive and accommodating, but never intrusive. She is also fluent in English. The week passed far too quickly. It is obvious that the owners' family spends a good deal of time enjoying their house and that welcoming atmosphere is present throughout. We spent a lot of time outside on the terrace and around the pool. The house is conveniently located between St Remy and Mas Blanc des Alpilles. We ate well at several of the nearby restaurants, the highlight of which was Le Garde-Manger in nearby St Etienne du Gres. The local rose' wine was quite tasty, refreshing, and inexpensive, mostly from Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan varietals (not surprising because the property is just south of the Chateauneuf du Pape AOC).

Also we enjoyed shopping in the markets in St Remy and in Eygalieres and visiting Les Baux (nearby) and Aix (45 minute drive ). The house is equipped with bicycles and bicycling is easy on the relatively flat terrain between the house and nearby towns, although biking to Les Baux would be a challenge that no one in our group would even consider. A visit to a premier olive orchard and mill, Calanquet, only a few kilometers away was also a fascinating diversion. The olive products and some provencal crafts are sold in the gift shop. Finally, the house has great WiFi and a TV with several english language channels. The Mas des Roseaux is the perfect location for exploration and discovery in the region, at whatever pace you choose to set. We definitely expect to return!

Comfortable and charming family home with beautiful garden

Our first impression of the house was the strong feeling of peacefulness from the garden and that the house looked quintessentially Provençal. We felt very happy with our choice immediately. It was a great place to share with our friends. We all thoroughly enjoyed the many amenities of the comfortable and lovely house, pool, and garden and found the location to be ideal for the day trips around the Alpilles and even to the Luberon. We were sad to leave and would love to go back some day.

St Rémy has been described by Forbes Magazine as one of the 10 most idyllic places to live in Europe. With its numerous cafés, restaurants, chic boutiques, art galleries, bustling market, craft and artists market every Tuesday night it is indeed charming and the centre of town is all pedestrian.It is also the home to the Romans - the Glanum ruins go back to the 6th Century, as well as Van Gogh and Nostradamus.

Going a little further afield you have Les Baux de Provence, le Cathedrale des Images with its outstanding'Son et Luminières' exhibitions as well as the much sought after villages such as Eygalières and Mausanne set in the midst of olive groves and vineyards.

Less than an hour away you can explore one of France's biggest antique markets in Isle-sur-la-Sorques, visit Luberon with its picturesque villages Lourmarin,Bonnieux and Rousillon.

And then of course you have Avignon with its papal palace and its summer theatre festival, Marseille with its stunning new museum Mucem, music festivals of very standards (classical, rock, jazz) -you will need weeks to explore it all!
